Since I'm driving my daughters 240 this week instead of my 240 5 spd, I'm shifting at whatever speeed the A/T finally decides to shift at. I'm not sure sometimes if it's even going to shift. I have to get up to about 4000 rpm then let off the gas a little to get it to shift. Gotta do that with every gear except the last one. It is soooo time for a swap...but she's not sure she wants a standard. Guess we'll decide when it finally croaks....

2k normal driving, you must have a really happy CA.My CA is lazy as F*** 2k is like im just off the line, no way im shifting now.3k minimum.

If i even try shifting at 2k my CA flips me off, laughs then grunts till i give it more gas.

Just noticed that, and lol'd my a** off. Then googled "240SX Vtech", just in case you know? pressed "Im feeling lucky" and got this:
Yeah, shifting at 2k with a restored CA is still pretty low. It would be ok, it just would grumble a bit and not really go anywhere. Seems like it is just step above idling along. I mean fuel economy is good and all, but how much more fuel economy do you need from a mostly stock 4 cylinder vehicle?

<offtopic>It is going to take some getting used to driving an SR powered fastback because I am used to my CA. Hopefully they have similar habits. If not, I am gonna ditch the SR and get another CA.</offtopic>

DD - 3000-3500 RPMS

On Ramp/Merging - 4000-5000 RPMS

I've only bounced it off the rev limiter a handful of times.

204K miles on stock KA.

tell us what your engines are, 3K on a KA is totally different from 3K on a rotary or a CA

putzing around town i shift at 2.5k usually ill take 1st up to around 3k

when im trying to make it move a lil ill take it somewhere between 4-5k (i do this alot)

highway onramps 6.5k

shifting w/o clutching i usually take it to 2.5k before letting it drop and shifting

cruising on local streets i sit just under 2k, the car feels alright anywhere between 1.7-2k

stock ka and ive put about 23k miles on it in the past year and a half, did a compression test about 6months ago and got 185 across the board... no idea where it sits now but its got 165k on the clock.

i dont look at the tach much unless im trying to save gas or flooring it, i usually shift by ear and feel. i did notice driving my boys sr, that it seemed to be happier shifting somewhere between 3-3.5k for average daily driving

Daily driving I shift at 2500RPM's which in turn nets 28mpg city and 35+ highway.

Anyone who cruises around at 4000+rpms in the city or neighborhoods... Congrats, You're a ricer!

nahh, 1500 rpms on a ka is fine as long as you don't floor it in 5th at 1500 cuz then your car will vibrate...the ladys love it tho so that's why I shift at 1500

shifting below 1.5k risks lugging the engine which can result in engine/ transmission damage. Which ever is the weakest part, ususally the clutch.

I shift between 2 and 3k after the car is warm. I've only hit the rev limiter a couple times; smoking the tires and hitting third instead of fifth. 160k miles. n/a KA dreaming of boost
