I wrapped some electrical tape aorund the MAF connector, and removed the air filter just to be sure they didn't get sprayed with cleaner or water. Aside from that I made sure I didn't spray any engine cleaner into or near the vents along the driver side wind screen as this is the intake for recycling air in the cabin and I didn't want that smell inside the car. Griot's makes a leather scent spray that I periodically spray that vent with - it keeps a hint of leather inside the car.
Looks very nice. I need to do this again but I dont want to put any engine dressing on it, I actually havent checked up on it but I will assume its dusty and greasy feeling again. I'll just clean it and possibly just put engine dress up to the center cover and all the other top covers but nothing underneath.

What vent are you talking about? Can you put an arrow on one of your pics? Last time I cleaned my engine my car smelled like engine cleaner for a good 2 weeks. I also have a leather scent spray but its from chemical guys. I want to try this.

The latter. What a small SLOW car. Mind you it's the Sport (non-turbo) model with an automatic transmission. I would love to try the ABRATH version but based on photos I can tell you I would not nearly enjoy it as much as the M. If you want small and fun go cooper S.

Did most of my 60K maintnance today.
Oil+Filter change M1 oil and M1 filter
Differential oil change (oil was never replaced and came out nice and clean, lot of metal shavings on the drain plug ) put in Royal Purle 75W90.
Serpentine belts GY Gatorback
Spark plugs NGK Double laser platinum
Seafoam

Everything is fairly easy on these cars but still have to do upper & lower radiator hose, thermostat (lower temp) coolant flush/fill + radiator cap and pcv valve.
transmission flush can wait till 70K and for that I'll take it to the dealer.was thinking of replacing the power steering fluid is there a drain plug or is it done by vacuum ?

I have a set of those as well and they are brilliant! They don't puff out form the window like the cheap ones, LOL, and they allow you to leave the car in the drive with the window slightly open on hot days. Great choice !

Today completed all the fluids on my car. I had the power sterring, cooling system, diff and gear box fluids changed. The Infiniti guy told me all the fluids looked to be in very good condition (about 40k miles on them.
I already had the brake fluid changed in June when I had the brakes serviced so now ALL of my fluids are new.

Not-so-good news: Tires will need to be replaced soon. I'll probably stick with the Michelin Pilot Super Sport A/S Plus, but the my M56 loaner had less expensive Bridgestone Protenza RE97's and it handled unbelievably close to my Michelins.

Larz, sorry to hear about the impending expense, Can you tell me how many miles you got out of the Michelin Pilot Super Sport A/S Plus? Was it 40 Miles?

Larz,
Let us know where you get the tires and how much. I too am in need of new tires around October. I will either go with the Continental's or the Michelins that I have now but I know the Michelins will be in the neighborhood of 1100-1300 vs the Conti's at less than 900.

TXT, I answered your post, but I feared when others respond to our current discussion, it will turn this thread into a tire thread and shouldn't be in here.

Hello guys I am new to the forum as well as Infiniti, just got a 06 m35 65k miles...love the car....I have been pondering buying one for a while because I have always purchased 7 series, and Jaguars.I have worked on Jaguars for many years and now I am getting fimiliar with with the brand. I replaced my matts, installed 20" velocity rims, tinted windows, and order a trunk lip. I really like the car and I am enjoying it greatly. Also I would like to ask a question,my passener side headligh keeps dropping even after I adjust it, do I need to replace it? I am not sure but seems like something is not holding it...

Replaced both belts (ps and serpentine) last night on the 45 while the engine was still warm.
Was too lazy to jack up the car and did everything from up top. Parts were less than $40 total and about half an hour's worth of work (might have been faster if I worked from underneath) for the ps belt.
The estimate that I got was for $175, but that included oem belts... I can use cheap belts and change them myself more often and still come out ahead.

changed the oil and diff fluid... on the way to take the car out on the fwy for a quick run....I had some fun with a G35 sedan...he had - I think - 20"s and as I was going to the lane which enters the on-ramp to the fwy he decided to jump in front of me...so I slowed down and got behind him.....once we merged on to the fwy he decided to step on it and try to lose me....oh well...I switched the Uprev into sport mode and got on it...he cut across all the way and got into the carpool lane (driving by himself) thinking he could out run me....I noticed he was maybe one car length in front -- as I was in the middle lane...once the fast lane opened up I got next to him and then I opened it up -- c-ya dude....

I'm sure he was surprised to see an over weight family sedan run like that.... :rotfl

Nice idea (Painting the hats), unfortunately they will still rust (I did this previously). Albeit it takes a bit longer for the rust to perforate but it does eventually get under there as well.

dropped off my set of M sport wheels to get the scratches and imperfections taken cared of....then powder coated. I'm going with a semi-gloss Anthracite and will get the emblem & lug nuts done in black

thought it'll be a nice contrast against diamond graphite. I'll run the stock sport wheels just in time for the fall and garage / or sell my Concept 1's (19" staggard set up).... :gotme

should be done by end of next week and I'll post pix....

Cant wait to see how that looks, would you mind sharing the cost too?
I plan on doing something similar since the clear coat is peeling off.

My clear coat is also peeling/peeled off. Its actually very very bad but the color helps a lot in masking how bad it is. I put some wheel cleaner on the wheel while it was still hot :(

I guess you learn the hard way.

the pix I saw (done on an M6 wheel) the car was silver and the anthracite -semi gloss wheel looked really good!! my car is diamond graphite so the wheel color will go well :dblthumb:

I got a good deal since my buddy knows the owner of the shop....so with the special powder coat color choice I'm going with along with the semi-gloss coat, black powder coat of the lug nuts and paint the center caps, as well as the wheel repairs for the curb rash -- I'm paying $80. per wheel. not bad compared to other quotes I received around L.A. it's crazy how some places were charging $150 per wheel .....

these M sport wheels were my original wheels that I previously sold a few years back...then the owner picked up another set of wheels, so the M sport wheels just sat in his garage...I picked them up for $250

I don't have a copy of the pix with the color choice I selected, but here's something close to it...but this has the matte finish...
