Well finally got around to it, after being bumped in parking lot a piece of headlight housing was jarred loose from the impact. Took headlights out to glue the housing piece back in while I was there decided paint housing black (left chrome rings) and added led halo and ddm tuning 5500k ultra hid bulbs, still running stock 35w ballast however still looks pretty good. Also threw in some led super white halo I had laying around, tinted them as well. Came out pretty nice i think. Biggest headache aside from prying them open was trying to sand and polish inside of headlight lens which was in need of help. Soo decided just re. Clear coat inside and outside. Using whatever I could find at local auto parts store that was uv safe and non yellowing formula, believe it was rustoleum. The install probably took total of 20 hours, i tried my best not to rush and take my time.

Hey LOODA,

looks REAL nice...
how hard was it to take out the headlights? any tips or tricks for doing this job?

I have to replace my driver side headlight because it was chipped by a chunk of metal thrown up by a truck on the highway... :tisk: lucky it didn't smash my windshield. I bought a replacement one on Fleabay and it's been sitting in my office for like a year.

there's only one post on removing the bumper and getting to the headlights, and only like one pic, so needless to say I'm afraid I'm gonna mess something up. I don't need a every single step DIY, but a few more pics would prolly ease my fears about tackling this.

Was actually easier than anticipated, removed wheels, inner wheel well covers, bumper then headlights in that order. Had whole thing apart headlights out in two hours. I used a heat gun to remove lenses and baked em at 220 degrees for 10 minutes to reassemble, didn't add any extra weather strip there was plenty there from factory to reuse, i washed it other day still no moisture in headlights. Should be fine

To remove bumper fairly simple start inside wheel wells and follow along bottom of bumper and four on top under hood, about it really

I used the meguiars clay bar and detail kit on my M the results were incredible, the clay bar took off all the overspray from when I painted my bike plus all the bugs, road dirt, and chip marks. next weekend I do the headlight restoration kit.
