Ryan... **** you.....

Lou... Yes I konw... I was saying with moderate mods they do 12s easy... IE exhaust, CAI, underdrive pulley kit and some other various things...

The grand prix GTP and regal GS are VERY easy to make VERY fast.....

That's a tall order to get those numbers. Even if you could get that power, I would question the logic of putting the power to make a 3600lb car go 12sec on a FWD car. Torque steer like you wount believe.

Thats true, and it could be a fanboy comment anyway (BTW WTF does that mean)

thats just what ive been told that with some pretty minor mods you can get into the 12s..... I have no way of proving that, except the words of others that are into those cars as much as we are into ours!

*Over*drive pulley?

Uh, have a little experience there, Wes. GP GTP, SoFla Pulley HQ pulley, headers, no cats, SLP Y pipe, exhaust dump (a La PMQ) drag radials, icebox style intake, secondary o2 sims, Comp Cams stage II camshaft, etc, etc, etc, low 13's (13.2? forget mph, sorry) at sea level (Orlando).

Those aren't minor mods, buddy. That's a lot of work & money to achieve those numbers. Cam install alone is around 8-10 hrs.

Have you ever driven or ridden in a 12 second car?

Please understand I'm not trying to be antagonistic.

Use Rob's 1/4 time sheet, throw out the 10 second 87 GN and the 98-00 16 second Regal, average the rest & you get 12.80's. Maybe that's what he meant, Regal as a breed.

There's a joke there somewhere, hope y'all find it.

BTW, I posted that smokemup calculator, dammit!

Those Grand Nationals were truly fast cars. That 87 model was the fastest street car you could get back then, at least as far as American cars go. Then when they put that 3.8 into the Trans Am, it was genius. It got faster. Amazing how detuned that 3.8 is today compared to the 3.8 of the late 80s. Buick should get one of those Caddy RWD platforms and get that old 3.8 the way it was. I'd be first in line.

The GNX is going for $40k now, drooping headliner and all. If I was a car collector, that might be my first choice.

I've seen some other Grand National for cheaper. I don't know if it was a GNX, but the first ones were fast, also.

Fast*est* American car in 20 years preceeding it's production in 1987.

They're around.... rattly, leaking T-Top, (unfortunately a lot were T tops) consistently broken 200R4 trans, clunky doors, 10bolt diff, body on frame, Fisher in all it's glory.

I was 20 years old when the X was released.

I would have gladly rendered myself unable to have the children I have today to own one at the time.

Jesda, I guess you where right. Look at this minty GNX with about 3000 miles on it.

The GNX was actually faste than the gran national. Not much but still. It also had little suspension tweaks and the GNX is very rare moreso than the gran national

GNX was much faster, rated a 310hp, GN & T-Type 240. It also included dual exhaust, larger turbo, 16x8 mesh wheels, 160 mph speedo (as opposed to 85) and other stuff not available on the GN.

GN's are dime a dozen.
