Wes, congrats on the new Buick. I'm so happy for you. A new car, no matter what, is always cool. Better than what I had when I was your age. Not what I would pick, but, man, you can't beat the price. $8500 for a 2 year old car with 20,000 miles, that's great. It shows the depreciation of American cars. How much was that car new, $23,000? This will be good solid transportation that's cheap to fix. My friend that did the shocks and brakes was trying to convince me to get an Impala SS for my next car, after the Q, because it's so cheap to fix. He owns a Meineke and he tells me all the time, "Wait till you have to have the exhaust done on your Q. It will cost you a fortune." You will have that car for many years. So what engine does it have? The 3800 V6? Good, low end torque pushrod engine. Does it have good power? 16in rims? We want the full review.

So Wes, do you still have to get rid of the old Q? Are you going to try to repair, or just part it out? I still think, if you have the time and space, take the Q's engine apart and see what makes it tick, and see what broke. Might be a good learning experience. Well, good luck with the new car.

I shouldn't tell my secrets, but if you Microsoft Photo Editor, you can use the "Gamma" adjustment to lighten up the pic and see a lot more details. I use it all the time when I'm taking drive-by pictures of foreclosures for my business... seems like I'm always doing that at sunset.

Yeah I always liked PhotoDraw v.2, the only program MS has ever published that required no updates! Well, forgetting about Bob, which didn't do anything anyway.

Speaking of which, shouldn't this thread be in General Chat? Has nothing to do with Infiniti.

Alert a moderator! Oh wait, one started it. As Pogo said, "We have met the enemy, and he is us."

Congrats on the new car Wes. My cousin has a Silver 2002 Regal and her husband has a tan 2002 LeSabre. Both are very nice cars. But Wes, we need some pics taken during the day. Too hard to see at night or in the garage.

And nobody better start talking smack about IU. The Hoosiers are 2-0 right now and play UK Saturday in which they will move to 3-0. I smell the Rose Bowl. Hahaha.

One more thing to note. Wes here is a Moderator on the Cadillac forums and doesn't own a Caddy and now he is a Moderator here on the Nissan/Infiniti forums and he doesn't own a Nissan or an Infiniti. Hmmm, sounds a little strange to me. What's next, the Buick forums?

That's liable to stir up some controversy. What's the matter? Buick & drag racing can't be in the same sentence?

Im going to clean it up a little later this afternoon (it rained today), and I'll get some more pictures.....

The car has many options, doesnt have heated seats.. the sound system isnt real great (its good for listening to classical music, crystal clear but not real great for my type of listening), and you have to fight it to do what you want... It also doesnt like burned CDs... 16in alloy wheels... The 3800 is what i would call fiesty... its always ready to go but it just isnt really fast... I miss the SC in the GTP, maybe if I find another good deal I can get that.. Low end power is VERY good but it just runs out of steam...... The transmission shifts so buttery, at lower speeds you just see the tach move, you dont feel shifts, but at WOT i dont think it shifts quick enough.....

Im now kind of unsure what Im going to do.. Id still like to part it out (most likely) and then get what I can... I mean hell, if I have a chassis with nothing in it, why not try some sort of swap.

Must be nice to have a nice car when in high school. I was driving a 10 year old possesed Ford Escort when I was in high school. The thing had electrical gremlins that could never be found. It would be dying one minnute and then the next the thing would rev till it sounded like it was going to blow. Ahhh, the good old days. See, you won't really have those memories. They make you appreciate things much more when you have a nice car.

I will always remember the 1988 Sentra that I was rear-ended in three times. I'd be driving up a hill and hear a "clink clunk" sound. Friend would look back and say "Uhh Jesda, something fell off."

Our family bought it as a demo model back in the late 80s and took it all across the country. It was our only vehicle at the time, and even in my hands it refused to die.

Sure you can. Rev the engine in park and take the picture quick. You don't want to redline a new car that long.

Thats cheating, besides the 3800 is electronically limited to 4000 RPM in neutral/park.....

I took my redline pic while it was under load... I have the picture to prove it...

OK, I'm gonna go ahead and call BS on this... the later pics are definately not of a car that was cleaned up at a car lot recently! Leaves under the hood? Dirt on the floor mats? Oldster compas and mirror? Something tells me Wes's grandparents are in town for a long weekend.

Are you going to take the pie pans off the Q and toss on the Regal?

Oh, I got it. You could debadge the Regal and the Q and switch badges and make the Buick JDM tyte.

Yea, so do they make Tokico blues for the Regal and a modified Front strut bar from a Maxima. Maybe Level 10 Regal transmission mods. Time to start modding the Regal. All kidding aside, does the sc version of the Regal come with a beefier suspention? Or from the Impala SS? They're almost the same car. No reason you cant improve on what you have. Make it more fun to drive. Must be easier and cheaper do do things to the Regal. When are you starting a Buick Forum on NICO?

Well Wes your in luck. Eibach makes a set of springs for all W-body GMs from 97 to 02. That includes your Regal. Woo hoo!

Wes looks like you get to play with a true waste spark system. And I thought the Q engine bay was cramped.

Nope! The dealerhsip does!!!!!!

I think Im going to save the money for something else..... May look into a SC swap? Prolly isnt too hard, but thats like saying its easy to put a VK in a G50

I actually was sitting in the car today after school waiting for my brother, I had my avaiator sunglasses (right from top gun) and was blaring the darkness... I had some girls come up to me, and say "wow wes your car is really nice"... never got that in the Q! One girl actually made it a point to come by a SECOND time and say it again (still avaiators, no more darkness)

Ive fought the sound system and finally I am happy with it... I like the automatic tone control, but I wish I could tweak the stock customizations....
