heres how i got my money story.....my mom DID give me 2500 for my first car and i worked at mcdonalds since i was 15....when i was 16....i found my first 300z for 3500....i had 4500 saved....bought it put 1000 in mantience just to make it worse and sold it for 2500....that leaves me with 2500....saved like a mofo through christmas, bdays, work etc...saved up 6.5k....found the mr2 for 6.....had 500 dollars and out it in some mods.....wrecked it, insurance gave me 6k.....so that leaves me with about 6100....saved some more till i got to about 7k.....found the TTZ for 5500...needed paint, got a paint job for 950 bucks..so that means i had about 6300 in the car.....sold it for 9500, that leaves me with about 10k....just had graduation and got about 700 dolalrs plus work money i had left over b4 i got laid off....now i have around 12k.....where is my parents help commin in? overall that leaves me with about 1k of parents help......

so it basically seems like you save a good bit of money, and got a damn fair amount for Christmases and birthdays?don't think that your earning so much your self man. and that's not a bad thing, you were given it why not? But you have gotten way more then most people.Hell I consider myself to get a damn good amount from my parents but the most they did for my first car was sell my the 88 Plymouth station wagon that my grandma had sold my brother for $500. When people say "you dad is buying you a car" they know you are putting in some money too, but even a fair part of the money you are putting in came from them and other family as presents. you've already gotten way more then most people and you still don't seem appreciative.

$12k is plenty for a reliable, fun car. Hell, you can still get yourself a WRX, probably a few years old with 50-60k on the clock if you hunt a bit. I see 98-99 2.5RS's with 82k on the odo for $7k, so 5 more would give you say a 2002 WRX.
