HUGE UPDATE ( i know, finally)

there have been a lot of things on the 240 ive been working on that i could show you, wire tucking, cleaning up the engine bay, interior and lighting work. but im not going to show you these things for one simple reason, they arent relevant anymore. some of you may be looking puzzled at this point but the thing is, im completely done with that 240, sure it wasnt done as in finished, but regardless im moving on.

i thought about making a separate build thread for this, but it still falls under the current title. so here it is unveiled for all of nico....my new project!!!!1!!1!its a 1990 base model, 92k miles, the interior is in good shape (besides a cracked dash) and the exterior is pretty good besides some faded paint. it does have some rocker panel rust that i will get fixed up soon enough. but the frame rails and underside are the nicest ive seen for any area that gets snowyou might be able to tell from the monster gap, but its engineless. i just bought it as a shell. its completely bone stock (not even an aftermarket radio) and had nothing done except for the engine taken out. so the task ahead is swapping my engine and other good parts over to this shell and getting rid of the old s13 with rusted frame rails.the main trouble spotno spoiler, so no hatch rust. there was some water in the spare tire well so its obvious the tails leak (what a shocker ) clean frame railsmore of the rust spot. it'll be professionally fixed and im fine with it since it isnt structural he had some tools inside the car but besides the cracked dash and less then perfect seats (they werent too bad, but my current ones are better)the interior was mint. i keep being amazed by the lack of issues with this car. the sound deadening stuff under the dash is entirely intact and looks new, not shattered into pieces like normal. every nut and bolt comes out with no fight and is clean and rustless, after cleaning the water out of the spare tire area it was in amazingly good shape. besides the rocker panels, its almost like this car was preserved in time.

well before i get ahead of myself, i paid for it and did the title transfer on monday. he was asking $800 for it and i think i got a good deal (go ahead, guess what i paid). i then went with a trailer, my dad and my brother on tuesday to pick it up:strapped down, and happy to go homemy dad and bro helping outwe made sure she was nice and tight. look at that effort!!1! and the beast that did the towing

we got it home tuesday at like 4pm (the car was about an hour away). my brother and I starting on it right away. in the next 3 hours we removed the ac components, stock ac fan, slightly dented driver side fender, annoying battery tray (gotta give props to my brother on that one. he showed it who's boss with a hammer and chisel), emissions components and front seats. we also started to clean the interior up some.

Today (wednesday) my wife and I had off all day so we picked up some supplies at advanced auto and got to work on it by 9am. we tag teamed the work, my wife did interior and i did exterior. i started by removing the front bumper and the other fender (that fender is good i just wanted it off to get to wiring and thoroughly rubberized up in there. the last owner had cut some of the body harness, and i want power options anyways, so i decided to pull the whole body harness and swap to power options (feel free to help answer my body harness questionshere i got all the wiring for the body harness out, both inside and outside the car. my wife vacuumed and cleaned the interior as well as take out the dash (by herself) and clean and rubberize the spare tire and trunk area. i didnt take any pics of it with the undercoating down, but thats clean as a whistle for sitting with 8 months of water. clean interior (before the dash was pulled)annnnnd with the dash out. i'll take more shots, but those wires are all gone too since the body harness is outthe clean trunk being used for storage

thats what was happening on the inside ( the antennae also got removed but i didnt snap any pics) but meanwhile i was toiling away under the hoodthe engine bay was pretty stripped down to get ready for cleaning and painting. I also starting pulling the old brakes off to prepare to swap my q45 stuff and ss lines on

just me being dumb and doing who knows what

here she is ready to be pressure washed

the engine bay was dirty but rustless and i want to keep it that way, so i sprayed a whole can of engine brite gel in there and pressure washed it off. it came out pretty good for not scrubbing it and i'll be sanding it to paint anyways so i didnt need it perfect. i also sprayed the whole car off whiel i was at it.its nice and clean and ready for paint or undercoating. i bought 4 cans of rubberized undercoating and i may need more. im going to go ape **** on undercoating just to make sure it stays mint down there.

Agenda for Thursday - junkyard run for fender and other small parts- sand and paint engine bay- pick up z31 bmc (oh yeah should be in tomorrow)- remove the rest of the brake components- work more on body harness swap

thats a pretty optimistic list and i probably wont get to everything since i have to go to work at 4 pm, but i'll do what i can. I promise to keep the pics and updates coming since theres a lot to do now, and im being very meticulous and sure to do everything pro.

Well nico, what do you think?

Goddamn man, what a clean rust free chassis! Great find jeff! I hadnt seen the frame rails in person and seeing the lack of rust really is amazing for a PA car. Probably was someone's garage baby .

Awesome. Nissan did a great job with these little rockets. I just gotta get my hands on another shell!

BTW yea don't mess up that hatch with holes. its perfect.

edit; monday afternoon wiring harness pull still? from my car to yours

in a nutshell, blackie is too rough and has seriously messed up frame rails, and this shell was $300. any questions?

hahaha this is evil, but it kinda makes me happy to know someone is a little jealous of this shell. i'll show you the frame rails / underside area tomorrow, but they are mint as all hell. funny thing is this car wasnt babied or garaged by most owners.

to my knowledge heres the car's history. the original owner purchased it, put most of the miles on it and took good care of it. the next guy bought it for his daughter to drive around in and she ran the engine dry and seized it. her dad then let the car sit out back behind his used car lost until the last owner (guy i bought it from) saw it and bought it. he kept it outside at his friends house and removed the engine and trans and some interior. the last owner had it for 6-8 months and the car has NOTHING aftermarket on it, not even aftermarket radio

as far as your wiring diddy, the sooner the better man. this beast wants open roads

theyre hard to come by. i was extremely lucky especially since this was the first car i looked at after looking for only a week or so
