Shoot, I was just looking at local stocks for Kermee a couple days ago, and I think one of the dealers here in Seattle has that exact same car on the lot. Or at least did, knowing how fast these are selling it may be gone already.

Just got back from the local dealership which has been a trek in locating the car I want since late June:

* 1.8 SL in Super Black w/Charcoal Interior ($15,055)* CVT ($1,000)* Convenience Package ($700)* Floor Mats ($150)* Total MSRP: $16,905 USD* Price: $16,378 ($200 over invoice)

Got it with 80 miles which is okay with me. It went through two dealer trades. Its life started at Tacoma, WA then to Burien, WA and finally to Renton, WA where I bought the car.

I was ready to pay MSRP when they located the car and the Internet Manager instantly said $200 over invoice without me even asking!

Cheers,Kermee

Paid $15,575. No TTL. They brought it in from another dealer 200 miles away. They tried to charge me 1k over invoice but in the end I won.

hi everyone!i'm proud to say that my first new car is a 2007 nissan versa sl. i got the onyx blue, with the 6-speed manual transmission, convenience pkg (6 cd changer, blue-tooth, smart key, etc.). i had to drive 3 hours (austin to corpus christi, tx) to pick her up, but she was well worth it. the ride back was smooth, so great in fact i couldn't take the ****-eating grin off my face.i don't know if i'm gonna do any modifications to it, maybe some sportier looking wheels & tires in a few months.i paid $17100 for my versa.i did loads of research, considered the toyota yaris (too small) & the honda fit (less power, a bit less room, more $ & not as many amenities)incredibly happy w/my purchase.

It is impossible to get the Versa I want. So I went and leased a new Murano. Maybe next time.

Fingers crossed that I'll be a new Versa owner in the next week. Going tomorrow to haggle and hopefully get a deposit settled. Right now I'm at $200 off MSRP, hoping to get 500-600 off. Also need to get my trade-in value up a bit... we'll see!

Here's the Versa:SL w/ CVT, black ext. charcoal int.Conv. package, floor mats, mud flaps.sticker is $17,015, I'm hoping for closer to $16,500. We'll see. Anyhow, its a super cool car and I'm really hoping this works out!

Upgraded audio as in the subwoofer package?

Or just the MP3 player, no sub? (because that's not an upgrade, that's standard on the SL)

If you do have the sub package, you might be able to help us shed some light on a question regarding the 6 remaining speakers in the package. there seems to be some disagreement on them.

Oops! You are correct sir!I forgot that the audio package I got is standard on the SL.I originally looked at the S, but switched later to the SL. My mistake.I guess I need to edit my sig.

I asked the dealer about the subwoofer upgrade, and he told me is wasn't worth the money and really didn't sound that good. That's only his opinion, since I have never heard one to compare.

Sorry for the mix-up.

Just got my Versa SL about a half hour ago. Superblack with beige interior, CVT, Convenience package, mudguards, dealer installed sunroof (not yet installed though... have to take the car back Thursday). I should mention that the dealer installed sunroof automatically closes when you shut the car off (or so the dealer says... we'll see), which is cool, and not something the Versa sunroof does as installed by Nissan. Total price was $16,559... which I paid cash. I wanted the ABS package, but it's not yet available so I was told, and I considered waiting for the sedan a few weeks back, but decided I didn't like the side view, which made me think of the Yawn... I mean, Yaris. So far so good, but then I've only got 17 miles on the car. I've got to commute 70 miles each way to work, so we'll see what my opinion of the car is come the end of the week, when it has 700 miles or so on it...

Oh, and I should point out that I also traded in a 1999 Hyundai Tiburon with 150,000 miles on it. And just a question relating to an earlier post: doesn't the 6 disc CD player come standard with the SL? I know I didn't pay for mine... Also the dealer told me it won't void the warranty to have a local custom shop put in foglights if I don't want to wait. I don't, and I bet they'll look better than what Nissan puts out whenever anyway. I also plan to put a more appropriate exhaust on the car, and tint as well. We'll see about upgrading the tires later on.

I'm modifying the car in steps over the next few months, starting with adding tint to the windows, a better looking exhaust tip, a K&N filter charger, heavy duty front and rear floor mats from Weather Tech, a Turbonator to increase horsepower and fuel economy, pseudo-HID lens covers, paint protection shields for the front and sides, wide angle signal mirrors from Muthco, and the aforementioned foglights. Sometime in November I plan to address the tires, and I'm looking at a company that does custom interiors. Will let you all know how things work out...

Electric superchargers.. gimmick.

If you say so. I was impressed with the Turbonator in my brother's Maxima, having driven it several times both before and after it was installed. I mean, it's not gonna turn a Versa into a Viper, but that's not what I'm looking for. What I'm looking for is what I said before, more horsepower (even if it is modest) and even better fuel economy (which the Maxima had with the Turbonator, according to my brother). So if anyone can provide me a list of all available "gimmicks", I'd appreciate it...

This sums up every single electric supercharger product.

http://forums.carreview.com/showthread.php?t=507

make your own decision. Most people seem to be in agreement that these products are nothing but schemes.

I'm not averse to people modifying their cars. I did so to my last 3 cars, it's fun and gratifying. You've got some cool ideas there of what you want to do, but I'm just saying that this particular mod you have planned is a complete waste of money... something you could use to spend on another, actually worthwhile modification.

Edit: also, never trust your own butt-dyno. I've found it to be inaccurate, and been a victim of that myself. Example for me was the intake I put on my last car... felt like it gave a decent power boost from freeing up all that restrictive piping. Turns out it actually DROPPED about 3HP. whoopsie!

Interesting article, indeed. Even so, I contacted my brother about the Turbonator sure he would back me up, only to be told that it was among other minor modifications he made, one of those including an air intake kit. So, I would say that it is POSSIBLE the Turbonator aided in increased horsepower and fuel economy, but I must admit the air intake was most likely responsible. Nonetheless, before giving up on it, I'll ask my body shop guy, who is an experienced mechanic and well versed in these matters I'm sure. If he laughs at the Turbonator, it's a dead duck...

Alright, sounds like a plan.

I noticed you were also talking about tint regulations for your area, and you weren't sure of percentages. Oddly, your state's government website does not list laws and regulations online. This is kind of weird.

From what I gather from searching, any tint that is legal under Federal law as stated in FMVSS205 is legal in PA.

Title 75 of PA statutes 4524(e)(1) says that it's legal as long as it doesn't prevent someone from looking inside the vehicle from any window.

http://www.berksweb.com/users/dmv/tint/

Stuff you might want to read.

Interestingly enough, if they sell Hyundai Tucsons in your state with factory tinted rear windows, then 35% should be legal all the way around, as my wife's Hyundai's stock tinting is darker than the 35% I just had applied to my Versa.
