I got mine today and am wondering if my nismo GT knob on order is going to fit. Anybody who has one installed have a knob on besides the one that came with it. Or do you know how large the threading on the shifter is. The megan knob didnt want to go onto my stock shifter so Im suspecting the Megan is threaded with 10mm. Correct me if Im wrong.

As I am looking at the pictures, you have to reuse the pivot cap on the bottom and the plastic retainer ring? Do you have to cut it or can it be popped off? how do they get them on the shifter in the first place?

Hey Underground, you get my paypal payment and shipping address?

thanksjw

you don't have to use the plastic tip but I would recomend it for tight shifts.the plastic retainer ring must be cut off.I'm not sure the the shifter is prob assembled with the ring on it already.

He drove from AR to CA last weekend for the Formula D. He's probably on the road somewhere on the way home.

Are these nicer than the OBX? I was going to get one of those till i came across this thread. I have $80 burning a hole in my paypal account. (and i believe in offsetting paypal fees outside of eBay ;) )

i installed mine a couple of days ago.

*make sure you do not overtighten the top 4 bolts*

it has to be somewhat loose or you will not be able to shift into gear properly. other than that its goodtimes.

i was just wonderin if this deal was still goin. i really hope it is. but i had a question. no not about the quality of this SS (i'm sure its great), but a question about the use of a short shifter. i know every1 uses them for drag racing, but i don't drag at all. my main thing is touge, and drifting. i was wondering if ne 1 could tell me the benefits of having a short shifter for drifting, that would be great. i still want 1 hella bad. thanx again. 1

no benefit besides a shorter throw. depending on your skill level it may or may not lead to shorter 1/4 mile times.

Installed mine. Really tight, I guess its going to break in cause hitting 5th and R is a little awkward. It will pop out of gear if I dont shift just right. That could be the fact that the trans has 180 thosand on it, and the trans support bushings are loose. The plastic ring, nipple and bolts should have been included with this package. I have to keep the bolts kinda loose so that the blue retainer ring doesnt push the plastic ring too hard and make the thing too stiff. I removed the C ring and the snap ring that were inside. I could not see that they needed to be used. Is that C ring and snap ring supposed to go back in? The inner most dust boot cant really be clamped, the intermediate boot does a good job of pushing the inner boot on top of the well, I wouldnt worry about that one too much. Besides, my inner boot was cracked and broken already, which is typical.

Since its a stiffer piece without dampening (the stocker has a rubber insert to cancel vibes and noise), you can hear all kinds of zings and clicks and hums from the end of the stick. Its hellah weird. I like it though, its tight and direct and connected. Stil scares me cause I dont trust its actually in gear.

7/10 stars because I think they're factory mistakes because somebody forgot to put the plastic retainer collar on the stick and they didnt include the nipple. But then again, thats nothing and any opposable-thumbed primate couldn't figure out on his own with some good bananna rum.

I might get one too, I think stock stock throw is a bit long and I feel it keeps me from good times sometimes.

Just make sure that you put the pieces down in this order, I think my nylon cups had some wear (car's got 180 thou on it):

wave washerspacerbottom cupshifter ball (with slippery nipple on tip)top cup ( the side with ridges DOWN, it doesnt matter really)snap ring (put that inside the groove inside blue plateblue retainer plate

bolt her up, and you dont have to bee loose. If you put the spacer on top of the cup it will never feel right, though the shifts will be damatically stiff and you wont be able to hit 5th or R correctly. Shifts are VERY direct and shorter. the cups should spring just a little out of the shifter well with the wave washer in. It almost feels as good as my buddy's FD (RX7) C's SS. Mazda makes such good shifting.

the only leftover piece is the "C" ring.

I got my shifter and installed it today... thanks for the prompt shipping.

I suppose I tightened down my plate too much because the gears dont quite engage fully... i'll loosen the plate tomorrow to see if that will help but im not sure it will.

Aside from the stiffness and minimum gear engagment I like it very much. I'm able to move to each gear just by using my wrist... Its a nice click into gear sensation. It almost feels like a toy. I like how the shifter length itself isnt much shorter, but the travel is dramatically shorter.

...why isnt my sig showing anymore
