So the first event of the season was april 11th, and i have some pictures to add to my story!

this event was mainly to shake down the "new" chassis. i put new in quotes because i had drifted this car before, but that was before the major changes like the cage and new power numbers, so it felt like a whole new animal. Im happy to say that the car now is better than it has ever been, and im loving every minute of it. Everything is so smooth and precise, just like its supposed to be. like always, if you have any questions about the current set up, feel free to ask!

now pictars!

yes, this is me after i woke up at 3:50am and drove 5 hours to the track

Tech line, dads in the passenger seat lookin gangsta.

first few runs

you will notice i seem to be missing a large chunk out of my bumper, i was running a fairly tight line all day and sniffed a cone just hard enough to break the center piece off, oh well ziptiesFTW

after that session was finished, i decided just to ditch the bumper all together. it was a hot day anyway and extra cooling would be beneficial.

ps. i hope my pics work cause this is my first post with the new forum software

as much as i love the low low, this car is going to stay at this height. it works so well where its at that i don't want to mess with it really, plus i can get it on and off the trailer fairly easily right now.

So want to give an update of whats on your car now? Engine/Suspension/Drivetrain
Whats your plans for it now? Paint or stayin with the flat black? Going to go lower later or enjoying this ride height? How about the bodykit, any idea to change? Good build!

surely, most of the parts haven't changed tho.

Im still running my trusty turbo KA24DE, and there are no plans to change anything about the motor set up. It seems happy right where its at, so im going to just keep it at the 394whp @19psi

Same thing suspension wise, im running KTS coils and all SPC arms and everything is holding up extremely well. Im also running PBM knuckles and they are awesome!

as far as drive train goes, the only thing i really want to upgrade is my diff. im running a welded right now, and it works great for me but i wanna try a true 2 way. everyone says its a night and day difference so im just going to have to bite the bullet and get one i guess.

Paints staying flat black for now, if anything happens it will get a vinyl wrap instead of real paint.

As far as the ride height, its gotta stay where its at for practicality reasons. Dont get me wrong, i love the low, but when your father/mechanic/crew chief owns a suspension and alignment shop, you learn about suspension geometry and its importance in a well handling car. plus getting on and off the trailer right now isn't too hard. holy cow i kinda forgot about this thread! im bored on a friday morning so lets do an update shall we? lots of new things have happened!

soooo since last post i have done tons of events and the season is actually over for me now here in Washington, so let me recap for you.

As far as car changes go, i finally took the leap and bought a true 2way differential and its awesome, i finally see what all the hype is about. I also am running 25 millimeter spacers all the way around now, the car not only looks better but the increased lateral grip that comes along with a widened stance allows me to be more aggressive as well. Other than that, my car has been pretty solid and its preforming well so i dont wanna mess with too much. (notice how my car is NOT being worked on right before qualifying, i love that.)

Image

I finished the Evergreen Drift Grassroots series second overall, with podiums in the last two rounds. In round 2 i was top qualifier and finished second, and in round three i qualified 5th and finished 3rd overall. It was a huge confidence boost to finish so well in my first full season after my wreck. Needless to say Dad was also pretty stoked, and im glad i could show him that he built a kick a** car that is competitive with anything else out there.

Doing well at Evergreen got me enough recognition to be invited to a couple invite-only events, which was exciting. NOS forum fest at pacific raceways was one of those events and it was a BLAST! super challenging course. The first annual Bigfoot bash was the other one of these events which i unfortunately wasn't able to attend because i was already back at college.

Forum fest:

The best news though is.............I GOT SPONSORED BY ASD AKA AUTOSPORT DYNAMICS!!! ya know, the people who build the team falken cars?
im so excited to be a member of the ASDMob prospects for 2011, being able to talk car set-up with the 2010 formula drift mechanic of the year is an amazing opportunity that not many drivers get the chance to do.

Image

I cant wait for the 2011 season already, im going to run the full Evergreen drift Pro-Am series and hopefully compete to get my formula drift license. 2011 promises to be exciting and i hope everything keeps going the way it has been!

As always, questions/concerns.... post em up!

Sick man. That is all I can say. Congratulations on everything and the car turned out nasty. One question I have is what kind of internal work is done to your motor? I am building my car and am most likely going to have the ka rebuilt and slap a turbo on it. I was looking at the advanced rebuild kit that AMS has for about the last year or so and have been thinking of going with that. Do you have head work? Sorry if I missed it but I looked thru the whole thread looking.

Nice, well its good to know that you can accomplish very stout numbers on a rebuilt ka with basically a factory head. What kind of turbonetics turbo are you running?

awesome build, just read ur entire story, sucks for the coupe, but the hatch came out nice. good luck in the 2011 season, seems like things have been going you way since the crash. i have 2 questions... the spoiler u had on the coupe and on the hatch for a short time, who makes that? and also would u suggest a welded diff as a starter? or save for a 2way?

thanks man!

the wing i had was a carbon creations wing, i bought it used from a member on here and i havent seen another one for sale. to be honest it fit like s*** but i paid alot of money for it so i was trying my best to make it work.

Also, i would definitely recommend a welded for a starter. the most important thing really is seat time so if you can get it locked up on the cheap i think it will help you more in the long run than saving for a 2way right off the bat. some people will disagree with me on this but i dont really think weldeds are that bad.

about 5 or 6 of my friends are also runnin welded but i havent really discussed it with them, so ill look into that. i like the wing but if it had as bad fitment as u say it did then i wont really look into it, cause i dont need a spoiler just like the look of it. as for seat time, i just started drifting but a guy i was driftin with was sayin a welded diff with def help me learn faster. thanks for the advice
