Because not everybody wants to lay that kind of change down for a car!koukicody wrote:glad youre ok Jesda. damn, this is like the 2nd "i wrecked my car" thread ive posted in today.
why a 325 or 330? why not a new 335i vert, and embarrass some older m3's?
No, no you don't.koukicody wrote:You get what you pay for though
Yikes, lol. Buying new is expensive, not just the transaction but the depreciation. After something's been on the road for 2-4 years, the depreciation is a bit slower, making 2002-2005 the sweet spot for newer used cars, though by then most factory warranties will have expired.koukicody wrote:glad youre ok Jesda. damn, this is like the 2nd "i wrecked my car" thread ive posted in today.

Yeah, it should be. They're pretty much all like that.mmm240 wrote:Also, did your e46 have dual exhaust all the way back to a single muffler? That's what made exhaust mods so expensive on the e36 328
I like!Veriest1 wrote:

My route would be a straight through 3" magnaflow dual in/out muffler or similar with factory style tips attached to a custom 3" center section/test pipe. Keep the 02 sensors happy by spacing them up and out of the exhaust stream. There are pieces for raising spark plugs you can get at just about any auto parts store that should work perfect.
When I did mine I used glass packs in place of the cats but kept the Borla catback that came on the car. Sounded pretty good but since the Borla was 2.5" I've now replaced the whole system with a used 3" Euro Supersprint Exhaust.
Here's the Borla with glass packs in the center section for an idea of what it sounds like. It's on an e36 M3 but the engine is pretty similar.
i see your point. just wishful thinking on my part because i like the new 335i's. its a joy when one pulls into valet with meJesda wrote:

Paying down a 15-25k loan is doable, but 40k... ouch. If I was able to really throw money around, I'd have an XLR-V and a GMC Sierra and never need anything else.
The 335 is such a stealth rocket. I <3 it, so much.koukicody wrote:i see your point. just wishful thinking on my part because i like the new 335i's. its a joy when one pulls into valet with me
I'm not spending $10k on a Reagan-era car, because there's more productive things to do with cash. And the bank won't finance an E30 M3.Nismo_Freak wrote:Your limp-wristed convertible BMW made God angry. You have been given another chance to purchase a suitable BMW, like ... an E30 M3.
No M... no care... unless it's a 2002 w/ 2.5L S14.
Unless you're in a Rust-free zone, stay away from Pathfinders and 4 Runners .Jesda wrote:I'm not spending $10k on a Reagan-era car, because there's more productive things to do with cash. And the bank won't finance an E30 M3.
Now with 4-6k to spare after the settlement, I'd like a Pathfinder/GC/Cherokee/4Runner/Blazer/Silverado/whatever as well as my old Seville, which the guy I sold it to has posted on Craigslist with a bunch of new parts.
A sedan + a pickup/SUV = bases covered. I can have fun with expensive toys later in life. I'm still a student.
And the maintenance on e36's isn't to bad as long as you keep them rather close to stock. I've seen them still running strong at 110k miles with just fluid changes but normally you'll need to do something about the plastic radiator by that time. And bushings. Bushings will be shot and the car will feel like a limp wristed convertible.gniknave wrote:Damn sorry to hear about your accident Jesda. Gotta love that German build quality though. My advice is to stick with the brand that saved your life.
Wow I had to go back to look. Kinda cool, imo. (I mean that in the best way possible)Epod wrote:Notice in the close up picture of the door, you can actually see the Kia's front license plate stamped into Jesda's door
you came up the 101 and didnt even stop to say hi, what the hell man. i would have shown you a good time, and i say that with a perfectly straight hetrosexual record. i live a stones throw from highway 101, hit me up next time you travel through.Jesda wrote:
The car is now at Plaza Motors getting checked out. The Saturn Aura I'm renting now is nice, but I miss the convertible. It would have been nice driving it up 101 through the California and Oregon coast last week instead of the rental.
