Since no one is making a supercharger kit, I'm thinking of doing my own. I like the Jackson Racing / KraftWerks kit for the Fit. Turbos have been done already, and still a viable option too.

I dont think the transmission could take that kind of a power bump - the 6speed or the 4 speed and forget about the cvt trans -

So I heard wind of a conversation at Jackson Racing... sounds like the supercharger kit for the MR18/20 will be out in the Fall. No exact price yet because it hasn't been created. The Fit kit is $3,000, so I am hoping it will be close to that. Stock MR18 should go 122 (stock) -> 200hp (+50% hp) easy at 6-7psi of boost. MR20 should go 140 -> ~210hp. Should be OK for manual or auto trans, not sure on CVT.

I'm salivating at just the thought of the car with 200hp. Get your wallets ready.

Had a meeting with Oscar this morning of Jackson Racing (friend of mine for a long time) and have gone over everything with him and we are both on the same page.......the system will be a plug and play setup with no need for different injectors etc.. It will work with MT/AT or CVT...we are going to meet up in a few weeks (after the holiday) with my Versa and extra mtr I have to put a piliminary set up together and after that we will find out pricing to get the various pieces needed to fit on the Versa/Cube (yes it will fit a Cube) and how long to get those pieces machined etc.. It will be CARB approved...reliable because of it’s simplicity and yet still yield a 50% in HP/TQ....again all of it will be just a bolt on....no need for any computer work or injector changing manifolds etc.. I will be putting an MR20 in the car then the Supercharger so effectively the Versa will be putting out approximately 210 hp and we will dyno the car to see hp at the wheels after installation. :bigthumb:

This sounds AWESOME!!! Hopefully the $ to hp amount is sensible. If it is, i will be saving my pennies.

Sorry to invade! but i have a question. Are you going to be bringing a MT 2.0L sentra with you as well? Since we both have the same engines should have no problem with the kit besides fitment of the tubing??

not sure if the motor mounts are the same for the versa, but over at another site. Someone is making custom motor mounts that will be 10 million times stronger than the OEM ones..

Okay, just to try and clear up some questions posted and emails I’ve received I’ll try to take care of all concerns and questions.

This system will be based on the same proven system that has been used in Mazda’s and Honda’s for over the past five years...on displacements ranging from 1.5 to 2.5 liters without causing any failures of the following....engine/transmission (Manual/clutch assy/CVT/Auto) or to differential gears and last but not least motor mounts. And I’m sure Nissan is as good if not better then Mazda or Honda. And yes we have the Sentra in mind also.

“This supercharger setup combines the throttle response of the Roots supercharger with the compressor efficiency of a turbo, but without the lag. And the Rotrex does this without noise, without oil lines connected to the engine, and without the heat common in turbo applications”. The Rotrex is a more modern system with less plumbing and heat issues that turbo’s have to contend with. The reason behind choosing this system and Oscar a genus when it comes to supercharging setups.

As for gas millage....if you drive the car normally.....it will be the same as you get now only when you get on it will it suffer.....but that’s true without any mods.

Cost for the system will be in line with those for Mazda and Honda...in the three thousand dollar range but long term it will be a simple and reliable but effective setup and not changing the basic Versa/Cube ideals of good fuel economy and plenty of interior room it’s just now you’ve given it some BA%#S the factory failed to address!

My philosophy is simple for anything I plan for our cars....quality, reliability and things that just really work that will make the cars more fun to drive yet still can be used as “grocery getter/kid transport” if so desired!

Well, I hope I’ve covered everything.....

Just a side note to those that are asking about a "Short Shift Kit"....I read this article about the Juke in auto blog and this is what they had to say bout the Juke's manual transmission which I believe is the same as our cars.

"A six-speed manual gearbox with surprisingly short throws is available in front-wheel drive models".

Enjoy!

I have a new MR18 and new parts to make it into a MR20 and when were rebuilding it we will massage it to get a few extra hp/tq out of it....once that's done we'll put the pieces for the supercharger on it.....pull the motor out and install the new MR20 and hook up the rest for the supercharger and be done....this way I can keep driving the Versa till everything is done.

I'll have a "kit" available for those that want to make there MR18 into the MR20 with all factory parts...if you can't find a MR20 or would rather work with the mtr you have then trust a junk yard piece....at least you'll have an option.

Just a question. When you say the Juke's STS is the same as " our cars ". Are you talking about the versa or also the sentra? :ohno:

Yes, I am talking about the Versa/Cube/Sentra 2.0 version...I'm pretty sure there all the same.

If it's anything like the Honda's and Mazda's around three thousand.....and that's adding around sixty more hp/tq to the car before any other mods you may have done. ;)

Would you or Oscar recommend a tune after installing the supercharger kit?? I guess its not needed but would it be worth the hp gain? How much would a tune effect mpg/engine life?

for 200 horsies, I doubt 3" is necessary.

Not necessary yes, but it will help in the long run if the tuner wanted more power. It's future planning for me, why go with a 2.5" catback now and then buy a 3" catback later. Just buy a 3" catback now and be done with...the catback won't need to be changed at all for future hp upgrades.

Just a quick update.

Received word on Wednesday afternoon about new Speed Records....and notice the engine sizes 1.5 (entry Versa HR1.6) 1.8 (Versa/Cube MR1.8) 2.0 (Sentra MR2.0)

"BTW, my Miata powered Roadster set a new Land Speed Record at Bonneville this morning. 1.8 liter Miata 2001 model ran 206mph with the Rotrex supercharger on it. Pretty cool. Our Acura RSX with our 1.5 liter engine went 202mph for a record and my 2.0 liter Acura ran 234mph for a record".

This Saturday we should be finished with all the prototype fitments..then we can start making the pieces to mount and plumb.

And I think that a 3 inch exhaust would hurt Torque too much. Don't forget...were still dealing with only a 1.8/2.0 liter motor.

so i was talking to the guys at AMS motorsports, which is like 20 min from my house, and they said they would absoulutly love to tune the versa after a supercharger was put on it to see what they could get out of it, if there reputation is as good as what i hear, i will be one happy camper.

So what? any update on this Supercharger? I am very interested. also, what are the supporting mods it will require? like fuel injectors, filter, line, etc.?
