What are the high and low pressure's on the steering of 95? Also, where can I get custom power steering lines made? Or can I make some myself with AN pressure fittings and line?

Ok now that I know where. If I run a traditional or aftermarket chevy power steering pump with the stock 95 steering. Can the increase/decrease in pressure damage the steering?

It won't be different enough to cause issues. It may not perform as well.

you're going to have to chase that wiring gremlin with a multi meter. Check each joint to see where you do have power, and where you don't have power. Then you'll have to pinpoint what/where the problem is, and fix it.

I've recently bought a truck for work and stuff and i am keeping my 240sx to play with, since i no longer have to worry about fuel economy and reliability for a daily driver, would a 1JZ-GTE or a RB20/25 be better for a 1998 s14?

What are you seeing? Broken images, or just nothing at all?

If I were to go through all the trouble of swapping to a different platform, I'd either do an LS conversion, SR20, or 2JZ. Out of the 3 you chose, I'd probably opt for an RB25.

Yeah man, NICO (as well as pretty much everywhere else) hates IE.

Well i learned to drive on a 1JZ-GTE 240 that's why it's there, I don't like the SR20 it feels funny at the wheel (yes i know that sounds really weird it just doesn't hold turns as well as the 1j) but i hadn't thought about an LS conversion, how much fabrication would it take for an LS or the 2J?

The LS has been done more than the 2J I'd say. As far as how much fabrication, I'm not sure, check out the "hybrids" section of NICO.

Is 230,000 miles on a 240sx too much to consider buying it? That is on the chasis not the motor.

I searched all i could find was the most useless thread were there was arguing. So is there a actual write up with pictures for the less imaginative group of us for redoing the s14 door cards?

Hi everyone, i'm new here and i have a simple (i hope) and probably very common question.

I recently bought a 93 240sx with a it has a "knocking/rattling" problem. I bought it with 140k miles on both engine and chassis ( i think). The seller told me it was the tensioners that were bad. After buying it i looked online for possible causes and found a thread about the guides on this car that can cause rattling so i decided to try using that to see if it could be the problem. After removing both top guides it still rattled. But i did notice that the lower timing chain was loose and the left lower guide was all loose and i could easily smack it against the block with my finger making a similar noise.

The noise gets faster with higher RPMs, since i bought it i haven't drove it for more than a few feet.

Some people have told me it could be Rod Knock, others said valves. But i really have no time money to go fixing everything at once.
So that is why i am here hoping that this community can help me pinpoint the fault before i buy any parts. I have a video showing the noise.

Hopefully you guys can help me and i plan to become a member of this community. If you need to know anymore info to diagnose the problem please ask, i will try to get the info as best as i can. Please and Thank You!

IIRC its just a single piston caliper. Typically instead of rebuilding them, people just upgrade to 300zx calipers.

I'm not going to lie man, that sounds pretty horrible. You'd probably be best off just finding a used KA for like $300 and dropping it in there.

So I posted a while ago, thinking my miss meant my motor was screwed. But only sort of, it turns out. But I don't know what else to do, and neither does a local garage (that I think knows their stuff?)

cyl 2 was missing. Getting spark. Garage determined the injector was bad. Did that. Ran fine for 90 miles (note that it was cold)

happened again.

Did the fuel pump, thinking that low fuel pressure was making the worst injector fail first. Seemed to work, again, in the cold.

I know 2 has compression, I forgot the plug and turned it over, and it shot the wire.

the plug is coming out covered in gas, and there's white VERY gassy smoke, in rythmic puffs.

So now I've got gas, spark, but no fire.

Starts easier if I turn it over first to get the gas out, maybe actually rich and not getting oxygen? Sounds fine, would be a good idle, aside from not having a cylinder.

........What do I do? It gets hot and 2 just stops igniting, but keeps getting spark and gas. Also note, it's still missing on 2, now a brand new injector. And by hot, I mean sits in the sun for a few minutes.

If I can find some batteries I have a multimeter, though I have no idea how to use the thing. If it could help.

*edit* any votes that my next lottery ticket is an o2 sensor? I could get a video, but there's really nothing to see, no funny stuff or noises.

Sounds like a crack in the head or in your head gasket.

What I'm thinking:
Your engine gets hot and the cooling system builds up pressure (roughly 15psi) and coolant is being forced into the failing cylinder, hence the white smoke, the misfire, etc. A new plug will help for a while, but will become fouled quickly.

^yup.
Don't throw money away on an O2 sensor. If that were at fault, all your cylinders would be messed up. You either have a cracked head/headgasket, or something is seriously wrong with your valvetrain (bent valve, worn cam lobe) that isn't letting enough air in.
