Appaloosa.

it's a kick a** western.

Uncommon Valor! (this was an 80's action movie with Gene Hackman, Fred Ward, Tex Cobb and Patrick Swayze)

Some of my favourites that many may have not seen. Lots of cult classics. Just off the top of my head.

Amalie
Go
Ghost World
SLC Punk
Memento
Evil Dead 1 and 2
Army of Darkness
Trainspotting
Donnie Darko
Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels
Snatch

I know a lot of people dont like, or dont know anime. But there are some very very good feature length anime films. At a glance they can seem campy, but if you look at the underlying story, they are very deep.

Akira
Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind
My Neighbour Totoro
Castle in the Sky
Princess Mononoke
Howls Moving Castle

Yes, I am a Miyazaki fan.

to me, this thread seems to have strayed off topic as a lot of these movies were pretty popular.

also, A Better Tomorrow.

this is Chow Yun Fat's breakthrough movie as well as John Woo's.

This.

And I may be one of about 5 people on NICO to have seen this movie, but would highly recommend it:

Koyaanisqatsi

You guys do realize that the are making a live action version of Akira right... in 3D. Way to go Hollywood, just continue doing what you've been doing for years, taking awesome Japanese movies and ruining them. In this case repeating the suck that was Dragon Ball Z and the Last Airbender, taking an awesome Anime (in this case a cult classic) and turning it into a live action 3D suckfest.

Chinese Blood Opera's are one of the best genre's ever done. Kinda like a Spaghetti Western only 500% better.

I wouldn't go far as to call it a cult classic...it was pretty much the Anime that cemented the culture for America.

Yep, I've been following this. Zac Efron is being cast as Kaneda. Supposedly he is an anime fan, so there may be a chance he can play him well. Leo DiCaprio is one of the producers, is an anime fanatic, and he says that Akira is one of his favorite movies ever, so hopefully he'll have some pull on the direction and storyline getting done correctly.

Oh, and I agree with the previous statement about most of these movies being very popular. I want more suggestions about movies that I have not seen.

Hot fuzz <--- Its a perfect movie and surprisingly not everyone has seen it.

Night of the Living Dorks <--- Its german but I have a copy that is dubbed in English, funny in both languages. Oh did I mention its a Zombie comedy?

Ten Canoes <--- Movie that has good story telling also there is a documentary of making it that is pretty interesting as well but not as good as the movie.

Heroes for a Day <--- MWAG Documentary of Team XSV trying to unseat Dynasty.

Adam <--- Movie about a guy with Aspergers and a girl in his building, was better than it sounds but obviously its a drama.

Once Upon A Time In The West <--- Great cast and soundtrack Story was good, I could imagine this being remade to be more watchable but westerns tend to be slow in general.

Yeah,The Pest, while not being a great film is underrated.

I'd like to add

Stickmen<--- Poolhall Classic out of New Zealand
Its All Gone Pete Tong<---World Famous Dj goes deaf, alot of people still need to see this one. Coke Badger.
Harold and Maude<--- A lot of you younger ones might not have caught this classic.
Zerophilia<---Akward comedy of sexchangelings.

VV Other than Red vs. Blue, Everyone has probably seen them. VV

Snatch is a great movie
Momento is one of Chris Nolan's best outside the batman series

What about the movies American Psycho (christian bale version), Equilibrium, Rolling Kansas, and Legend of the Drunken Master

I think Baseketball is the best Matt Stone and Trey Parker movie, I cried the first time I saw it laughing so hard...

Running Scared

Before you hate on it for having Paul Walker in it, watch it. The acting is good, lots of action, plus it looks great.
