Ugh, another person that thinks centrifugals don't give low end torque. Anyone who doesn't believe this should come to my house and drive the '98 Mustang GT that is in my garage. It has a 10PSI Pro Charger kit (installed by yours truly) , exhaust, king cobra clutch, and 3.73 gears. Come on over and watch how fast the boost gauge hits 10. Geeez, were're talkin about a butt slow 98 Mustang GT with the 1st gen 4.6 (non-PI heads) The car ran like mid-low 9's in 1/8 with bolt ons......now it runs high 7's with only the addition of the Pro Charger. For God's sake.....the thing is using an FMU and a stock ECU program......stock injectors. I'd like to know where the hell you people are getting that cent. blowers don't have bottom end??? Maybe that's a problem with Vortech blowers, but, I assure you this car doesnt have that prob.

Once again we're not looking for opinions Nismo, we're looking for facts. The FACT is that an FMU is a cheap and effective way to increase fuel supply to a low-boost application. Increasing the fuel pressure over 100psi is not safe. If it was 'horrible' why would Corky Bell list in it his methods of fuel injection? Have you read the book?

Thats cool Cory thanks for sharing your experience with the centrifugal on your V8 Mustang. Don't forget we're talking about a 4 cylinder here...Your already high low-end torque of the V8 is complimented by the linear boost of the centrifugal. Can you tell what rpm it hits full boost?

Check this out: http://www.sportcompactcarweb....ivic/

Looks like that Honda hits full bost at 5000rpm. I'd rather have mine at 2000rpm. To each his own.

You're right on about the FMU, however, we are running the stang at a max of about 70PSI of fuel press. The stang gets to full boost pretty darn quick, first gear is gone before you can blink an eye, you hit 2nd and the car goes all over the place..lol. It's my brother in law's car, I had a Buick GN that was highly modified (and didnt get full boost til about 3,500 if i was lucky) His car would kill my Buick from a light. I had more HP and could easily run him down (but I had ALOT more done to my car) I'm kinda tired of arguing this issue. Those who don't want to supercharge thier car, just let us go our route, you go yours. It's just all prefernce, I guarantee there won't be but a tenth or so difference in 1/4 mile times between turbo and a Pro Charger. I just think supercharged cars are more fun and more reliable, and they have the type power band that I prefer. Have you ever driven or ridden in a 4.6 Mustang??? Do you know it doesn't see peak torque til 4,000 RPM??? See, before you go saying it's a high low-end torque V8, know the facts first please. Remember, this is a SOHC V8, not a pushrod 5.0.

You run your FMU... I'll do it properly. Thats why I said it was my OPINION.

Every dyno I've seen of a cent. S/Ced 4 cyl. showed very minimal low end torque gain.

What type of supercharger is the G60 model from the VW corrado and golf? Twin screw? I have a buddy giving me his old one. I was gonna toy with it and see if I could get it to work. If not, just rebuld it and sell it for turbo parts.

I'm pretty sure that is a twin screw. you may be able to get it to work, gonna take some fabrication though, but, it is possible.

Not yet. I plan on using a Pro-Charger and my car is an S-14. Not sure if there is much difference between my 96KA and your 91KA. I read on here somewhere that a guy had an S13 with a powerdyne. Mounted it where the A/C compressor goes (I guess he removed it or didnt have A/C to begin with) I'm currently working on other things, so, I havn't had much time for my project. I may buy another KA and put all the goodies in it before I install a blower. Not sure, gonna wait til spring to do it anyway.

Best place I have found on my S-14 is just below the alternator. It shouldn't be hard at all to fab a bracket to mount it there.

yeah, it sure does. The 4 rib belt that drives the alternator should be able to be used too, just have to get a longer one and may have to add an idler pulley to the bracket so that the belt to pulley contact area is sufficient. :)

no template yet. I'm trying to get some physical dimensions from ATI for thier blower. Dunno if they will give me that info or not. Hope that they will, if not, I'll have to wait til I buy one.

Intercooling always helps, no matter the brand of supercharger or turbo, even N/A gets help if the air ain't hot. So the answer should be yes; now, how much more horsepower you'll get, probably the manufacturer can help you there.

I see some people planning to do the supercharger thing, finally the pocket rocket will be created. I just wish someone saw the Kennebell Miata kit picture and transfer the idea to the 240SX, I think it should be easier to work at the top of the engine than at the bottom (the Pro Charger isn't a very small unit).

Nevertheless I say godspeed to Mr. Cory, he may very well create a complet sucess for a 240SX Kompressor (as Mercedes would say).

Intercooling is always good!! As for the Kennebell Miata, I've seen that. I wanted a Miata for a while, but, decided it was too small to drive daily. I REALLY want a Pro Charger NOW, but, I just have some other things to do to the car first. Just ran the car at the 1/8th mile track again tonight, went from a 10.39@67 with a 2.3 60ft. a few weeks ago, the timing was at 17 degrees. I hadn't checked it until after that night. I ran a 10.12@68 with a 2.17 60ft. tonight after advancing the timing to 24 degrees. BUT...my clutch is slipping now :( So, it should run 9.7s I'm sure. Factory clutch with 97,000 on it. Trying to decide what clutch to go with......

I'm sorry Mr. cory2081, I didn't mean for you to get a Miata...God forbid!

I was talking about Kennebell's kit for the Miata; see, the Miata engine and bay layout are essentially the same as ours. Intake tubing goes from driver side to passenger side, exhaust is at the driver side in a double overhead cam engine mounted to feed the transmission at it's back.

Kennebells kit mounts the twin-screw charger at the exhaust side of the engine, attached beside the valve cover...nothing's eliminated. Kennebells unit is quite small and permanently lubricated and, supposedly, very efficient.

The 240SX has a bigger engine (more power) and bay, more space to locate stuff (like you're doing with the Pro-Charger), virtually the Miata kit should fit, just a matter of modifying the bracket and driving pulley size. There's another plus, the twin-screw doesn't have back pressure losses (at least almost 0), centrifugal chargers have some losses.

So, Mr. cory, you or anyone decidedly going to install a supercharger, may want to check with Kennebell's technicians and see what could be arranged for the 240SX. I think the choice is a better one, and anyway nobody has a kit for us, so it's all experimental.

oh, I didn't buy a Miata, I bought a 240 :) That's why I am here. Yeah, I understand what you are saying about the Kennebelle. I am not a big fan of thier supercharger. I've seen them in action on several different cars and I am not impressed one bit. As I said, I am going to supercharge mine, just not at this time. It will be next year sometime before I get around to it. I'm probably going to build a bullet proof KA before I supercharge it. I'm looking for about 350HP to the wheels.....daily driver.

Hmmmm, interesting statement about the twin-screw not being impressive Mr. cory. What happened, what did you experience that makes you say that?

This might help change my point of view.

Let me suggest also checking the Miata kit from Jackson Racing, almost identical from Kennebell's, the difference is the charger. Jackson uses a medium size Eaton Supercharger, which in fact is a variation of the twin-screw. I don't know the performance differences between these compressors, we do know is the usual choice for OEM. It's also a little bit bigger than Kennebell's.

So Mr. cory, what's your oppinion on Eaton's charger? Check Jackson Racing's site, maybe that's it.
