My freeze plugs arrived. Came with some extras...idk why?
My turbo drain bung + cap came too.

I figured I'd do a write up about this, since all the other threads are old and the pictures no longer work, or something of that case.

This info is from a 240sxtechdvd's video on youtube, I'm just putting it in text form.

Materials needed:
Earl fitting: 967110ERL
Earl fitting: 992910ERL
Drill with 3/4" unibit, or whatever you want to use to make the hole (i didnt have a 3/4 inch so i used a 1/2 inch and a file..)
Grinder

Here are the fittings
Image

Here is the location you will be drilling, if you want to keep your a/c. If you dont want to keep your A/C, drill where ever you want, but make sure it is as high as can be.
This is 8 1/2" to the center of the hole, 1" down.

Image

Here's a better picture of the location, when you drill, it should be going through this baffle.

Image

Next, get your drill, start off with a pilot hole, and eventually you will have this. Keep checking to see if the bung fits in, dont make it too big. Get your grinder/sandpaper and remove the paint so you have bare metal. You will have to grind the lip down a little bit, so you can fit your welder in there to get the top of the bung sealed. (as seen in pic)

Image

Now you're pretty much done, you just have to weld it in.

Image
Image

The last picture is showing that you want the bolt to be straight, like that, so you can access oil pan screws easier.

Sorry for the lack of an update, not like anyone cares :X
I've been trying to get my car smogged, so that's where all my money has gone.
I finally got it to pass so my KA will be done soon. Then I'll start on wheels/suspension, then after that I'll start to piece together my turbo set up.

Anyway, all I have left to buy to finish the KA are head studs, a gasket kit, a timing kit, and a clutch. :dblthumb:

I'm digging this build Stryfe. You see to really know your stuff, like the PVC and intake stuff.
What are you doing for fuel?

For right now...I'll probably just leave the stock fuel set up.

But when I go turbo it'll all be changed accordingly. i.e. walbro, ecu, z32 maf, injectors, etc

I got a pair of sportmax 006's today for 100 bucks, mint condition. they look gay on my car though cause it's not low enough to make an 18" look good. But I don't really care...coilovers will come later, after i finish the motor.

Image
I'd post pics of them on my car but it's a 4X4 truck and they look horrible.

Here's how it looks. Really needs coilovers, sits way too high.

I will probably get $hit for this, but I honestly like the wheel fitment in the last pic.
Besides the undercarriage sitting high the way those wheels fill out the fenders looks nice.

And here's where I left off today. Tomorrow, I will assemble the whole bottom end. :)

My bottom end is pretty solid.

-Rock main bearings
-ACL duraglide rod bearings
-Eagle H-beam forged rods
-Supertech 8.6:1 forged pistons
-ARP main studs

at least do aftermarket valves alone. it would suck to skip those and end up needing them after. I cannot tell you how many times I come across people selling KAs and SRs with bent valves.

Answer: ...the key is a half moon shape and you can just push it straight. Lol. And the other thing goes in your idler sprocket.

So I started assembling the block today...checked my clearances, they're all perfect, lubed up the bearings, installed the crank..But then I noticed something...

Is this even a KA24DE crank!? I have never seen the key slanted, like that. It spins smoothly and has no trouble whatsoever spinning...so I think it is the right crank, but that slant is confusing me.

Image

And what is this thing?

Image

EDIT: LOL Im an idiot.

the key way is removable and is in the shape of a half moon. it will slant a little, just tap it flat with a hammer. and yes that looks like a kade crank. your good. the "thing" in the second picture is the piece that goes inside of the idler sprocket on the timing chain. i think there is a washer that is associated with it. cant remember where exactly.

Got bored today and sprayed the valve cover.

Because its only the base model the 160 hp k20. And i can still beat him now even with my full bolt on ka. So he's gone sc, and im gona boost. Plus im gona have almost non lag as well. So im hoping i will burn him off the street.
