I just orederd those black/reds in 18x8.5 and 18x9.5.... Fitment could be an issue, especially when considering 300ZX brakes. I will keep you guys posted as not too many people run those sizes with 35 offset. Rears shoudl fit, but fronts may need spacers, and the fact that I want VR4 or Cobra rotors may also mess with the spacing.

I am looking into buying these sportmaxs like within one week, running a 235/40/17 on a 9 up front and a 255/40/17 on a 9 out back? I know I am gona need around a 5mm - 10mm up front and the rear I should be good right? I have coilovers so I can raise and lower as needed. but will the fender lip be a problem at all?

As you can see, the 35 offset brings the wheels a little outside the fenderwells, but I hope to fix that with a good old baseball bat.

They are 18x8.5" 35 and 18x9.5" 35, with 225/40/18 and 235/40/18 respectively. I went with the slightly stretched option due to potential fitment issues and because I like the control it gives. I will figure out how much I will have to spacer them with the 300ZX calipers/Cobra rotors, hopefully no more than 10mm up front. The rear needs no spacing, I've been told, as long as I have coilovers.

Did you ever get the wheels put on? If so, did you end up having to use spacers?

yes he will need at least 10-15 for brakes most likelybut i dunno, since he is running stock suspension (like 90% of SM owners) he will need spacers for hte sus also

they weigh like 32lbs a piece in 18s.....make more power to the wheels to turn em, and learn if it needs adjusting toowheel weight is for racecars...and 240s arent racecars
I've read removing unsprung weight can carry up to 3 times the advantage of removing sprung weight. That's something to pay attention to when racing against the clock. Which hundreds of 240's in America race against the clock, I guess that makes em race cars too.

In addition, the further the weight is from the center of the hub, ie: 17" to 18", the negative inertial effect will increase EXPONENTIALLY. Of course it's probably not something you can feel by seat of the pants, but by watching the clock.

Too bad you don't deal with 17"s

Hey i just got my Sportmax 006 Black with Red lip in and i'll be putting them on and posting some pics soon. 18x8.5 and 18x9.5 +35 offset on s14. I happen to like the look of these wheels, I already hate this forum because of ***holes who make d!ck headed and narcissistic ****ing comment about how lame someone is for getting sportmax. Not everyone has 3-4 thousand to put into just wheels for someone who is building a budget car, which i'm sure most of us are. no one would be posting these forums if we didn't want your opinion to a certain extent but to be a ****ing c*** about it and put your ego into it and act like your something better than us for it, well i'm suprised this many people are still on this site. for those of you who do have everthing handed to them and have lots of money to do whatever they want with it than good luck to you too just leave you *** hole comments out.

xhimsa12x, sentiment appreciated, but the best way to deal with people wh are offensive to you on the board is to ignore them and continue doing whatever you're doing. don't give them more fuel for the fire. just do your thing.

good luck on the rims and let us know how the s14 fits, especially brake caliper clearnace, be it 300zx or not.

Sweet, those are the ones I want to get too. For the Sportmax haters, I prefer to spend my hard earn money on what makes the car fun and respected, TORQUE & HORSEPOWER!!! But, at the end of the day, it's what the person likes.

xhimsa12x, hook me up with some pics man:[email protected] post them here.

thanks.

PROBLEM:18x9.5 contacts the rear stock springs on an s13. I would say I'd need a 5-10mm spacer to clear that, but it would mean they would stick out more on the outside, which will make me have to really pull my rear fender.... I expected that, but not due to spring clearance issues. On an s14 they probably won't hit. also, the stock spring is had a larger diameter than a coilover (by about 2-3mm), so hopefully when I put in the coilovers, I will really only need a 5mm spacer. It kind of bums me out, as I didn't expect to have to put spacers in the back, but the 9.5 looks damn good and spacers are only $100 (if you get the good, bolt-on with their own studs kind). Or I could get a cheap 5mm spacer, but I prefer the good kind, that are hubcentric. with wheels that cheap, u can afford to get those spacers.

The front don't fit either. Or rather they fit in so tightly under the stock strut, that they actually rub the inside of the strut housing. There is ample clearance on the brake caliper side, and I wouldn't doubt that even the 300ZX caliper would fit. I probably will need a 10mm spacer to clear the stock strut housing, and maybe more to clear a coilover. When I put in the coilovers, I will update this with the fitment as well, and post it to the sticky when it's all said and done. I guess 18.x85 and 18x 9.5 are quite large, especially when running 15 offset. The ironic thing is that the wheel is perfectly flush with the fender on the outside, in the front. It's as near perfect as it gets. but I figure if I move it 10mm out, I can always pulland roll the fender to accomodate.

Does anyone know a good free pic hosting, where you don't have to sign up and upload one by one?

sportmaxx 006 FTW!! My next 240 will have these in some wild color (takata green). Man I dont know it you are into color rims or not, but royal blue or purple with the chrome lip would look nice with the color of your car. As for the sportmaxx haters, so what if they are knock offs. When I bought 22" Asanti's for my chevy years ago that I worked all summer for, my dad was against it. One morning I was heading out the door to go to school and seen my car sitting on blocks. I was sick to my stomache, pissed, took a bat to our mailbox, and was almost in tears. From that day on I looked at rims different and said I would never spend a bunch of money on them if I can't have my car watched 24/7. A week later my rims appeared back on my car and it was my dad who taken them. After him I sold them. Long story short, not everyone has a garage, or even live in a house where they Know their **** is safe. Replacing $500 rims, no big deal $2-5k on the other hand.....

It's all about the performance, IMO!!! Haters won't have time to see what rims I have, they'll be spinning too fast. A wise man told me once, "Slower cars need nicer rims, for they will be seen more..."

sil80drifter & xhimsa12x, would love to see some pics. A friend had an s14 with 8.5 and 9.5's 35+ offsets and he didn't need any spacers; for you guys with s14s that might be asking.

sil80drifter, FYI, I saw this s13 on Zilvia.net with some Sportmax (diff. style, same measurements). They look pretty flush with 10mm spacers all around:

[QUOTE]1. S132. Megan coilovers3. 18x8.5 & 18x9.54. Sportmax Racing 9625. +35 F/R6. 10mm spacer all around (+25 effective all around)7. 225/40 F 245/40 R Falken ST-1158. Alignment= nightmare. To be taken care of. Decent camber in the rear (at least -2.5-3) Fronts still need more spacer and more camber.9. 30mm Z brakes/coilovers10. Fenders rolled all around

Here is what I have been trying to fricking figure out for the past few days. I finally found my rims (and they are getting here REDICULOUSLY) fast due to how awesome SGmotoring on Ebay is with shipping wheels. I am trying to determine if a 17x8 +35 will clear my coilover and my fenders in front with a 235/40/17 and a 17x9 +35 will clear the same two objects in the rear without rolling.
