So I put the 240 on ramps to remove my exhaust manifold/turbo setup today....and that turbo has got to be F.U.B.A.R. there is oil all the way back to my muffler. I decided i should check my compression in my cylinders to make sure no internal damage occured, which none did, but not before I had a heart attack. My compression tester decided to not seal properly at first and I only got a reading of 60 psi on cylinders 1&3 ( commence curseing) After getting my wife to help me with the test I managed to pull between 158 160 psi on all cylinders. (big sigh of relief) I managed to remove all manifold bolts and heat shield bolts with no issues, disconnected my down pipe and the two front lines, all in the hour before i went to work. I ordered a used T25 with 18,000 kilometers on it and bought a rebuild kit 2 days ago for the blown one (provideing the shaft and blades are not crapped out)I also ordered new turbo gaskets. Hopefully I can get them in by Saturday, mid week the latest. Wish me luck! Happy 4th NICO

First thanks for all of the info I have gained through you guys ! After going through the ringer with my engine I found it to be blown. Not at the fault of the distributer but me ....always the glutten for pain I hooked my catch can up wrong and after a week of boosting at about 12 psi I blew my bottom end due to crank case pressure I guess it is a lesson learned, now I am going to start a rebuild which is kind of a blessing for 2 reasons. Reason 1 being that I never would have pulled the engine to finish body work in the engine bay and reason 2 being that my motor will be fresh and ready for what ever I want to do to the top end. I will try and get some pics up this weekend, I just got internet at my house so I am not restricted by my work, and my wifes camera is at my disposal..mine sucks and keeeps formatting my memory card deleting all of my pictures I either love this car or I am stubborn and refuse to let a good s chassis die...stay tuned for more

[IMG][IMG/]#4 rod bearing spun and fell out of the rod upon disassembly

[IMG][IMG/]no damage to block thank god, #1 sleeve was scratched from piston slop

[IMG][IMG/]#1 piston all F'ed up

[IMG][IMG/]pistons 2 & 3 bot had oil blow bye

So I ordered a new crank with OEM bearings, OEM rod for #4 cylinder a complete gasket rebuild set minus the head gasket. The rod and spark plug well gaskets are back ordered from japan for 60 days. I have plans for a 2.2 stroker kit consisting of C/P pistons, pins, Darton sleeves and a Cometic head gasket. The machineing of the block will be done by Flat lander racing in NH. Hopefully I can save enough to get this done bye the end of the summer if not a set f 264 cams z32 maf larger turbo and injector with a rom tune to keep me busy over the winter.

I need a reputable machine shop in Maine Flatlander racing is busy right now, and I am planning to get my engine finished by the end of september..West covina Nissan just got all of my parts in, and I am placing my order with Enjuku this week for all of my other goodies Any Northerners know of a good shop up here? I have been busy with other stuff so my 240 has been on the back burner for about a month, but the other day me and the wife started doing some more work on the engine bay (cleaning, painting, repairing rust, and getting ready to move the fuse boxes!) and I am now back on my 240 like a fat kid on cake If anyone has any suggestions please let me know, I live in Lisbon falls and will drive up to an hour for a good shop.

damn this was a great build, one of few with correct spelling/punctuation lol. but if your going to stroke it why go with 264's? obviously your going for nothing less than 400hp. go with 272's and a HX40 top mount:) there use to be a srt4 with a built bottom end running one and it was dead even with a 1000gsxr w/ power commander and exhaust. and *** for mazworx's ive been to there shop here and talked to one of the guys and i was very impressed. the owner mark is very helpful and knows his ****. but yea i got the same plans as you when i get back from my deployment make sure to update this.

I found a machine shop locally... Morgans machine shop...RPM Racingis going to bore my block .20 over and balance my rotating assembly. I decided no sleeving will be done. I am still using c/p 8.5:1 compression pistons, and building everything else with the intentions of adding a 2871r turbo, 740 NISMO injectors, B.C. 264 cams and spring combo, and Enthalpy R.O.M tune. I am hopeing to produce a 350 whp car by next summer. I am ordering the following products this week from enjuku to complete my rebuild...

OEM timing setCircuit sports turbine outletMegan racing manifold (they all break so I figured go with the most cost effective)Brake cylinder heat shieldARP head studsTomei 87mm 1.2 thick head gasketDME coolant plate (Help with radiator efficiency)Steel braided turbo oil and coolant linesATI super damper (help keep rotating assembly vibration down)C/P pistons 8.5:1OEM water pumpEnjuku Racing rocker arm stoppersFidanza short throw shifterMegan racing aluminum pulley setARC oil pan...

My back ordered parts are being shipped on monday From West Covina Nissan...Complete gasket setnew nissan rods...

I already got a remanufactured nissan crank, and bearings: KING race series capable of handling 700 hp (should do fine in my SR).

I can't wait to get my car back, I have been driving a KIA sephia for the last month and a half. It is good on gas, but is not a drivers car

I am trying to be conservative with the HP #, it is a daily driver and I am using stock rods. I have heard of some people putting down upto 500 hp to the crank on stock internals, but I honestly don't want to rebuild this engine again in a year

lol, it has been a learning experience for sure. Thanks for buying those parts off of me. I can't wait to see the hood painted and installed on your white car. I should start seeing most of my silvia front end this week, along with my engine components. If I get my new cpu I will post pics of the fuse box and wiring harness relocation. Stop bye any time before 1pm durring the week, I will most likely be finishing the rust removal and welding of my engine bay.

I only drive the KIA on rainy days, I use my bike for every thing else. Besides, I gave the KIA to my wife and now the interior is all tinkerbell and it has a big fairy on the back window. The looks I get driving that car on a military base are priceless.

LOL suga momma FTW! Yup she sure has been a helpfull wife! It's deffinetally fun learning all the stuff from this build...All those saturday and Sunday mornings watching powerblock sure help, and so does the abundance of information on thid site I just got done cleaning my block with greased lightning and a tooth brush, it really was a P.I.A but it came out pretty good. I will put the pics up soon, I am trying to finish a capt. and coke right now . Morgans Machine shop in Auburn Maine said they could balance my rotating assembly and machine my block and have it back within 2 weeks. I am pretty excited about it. I was reading some stuff about my ATI damper. Did you know that they require honeing to match your crank?! `

just curious... didnt you say you were getting it machined? arent you going to get the block hot tanked? so you dont have to clean it, or paint it until after it gets back?

but other than that.... im jealous of your new bike!!!!

Yeah I am getting it hot tanked, but it still looked like crap to me so i figured I would show some of you what some household cleaners and a little alcohol induced boredom could produce. The rain is bumming me out and I can't keep my hands off of the car. Plus I don't want to put it in my wifes car with all the poo on it.... The bike makes me even more stirr crazy on a rainy day too. As far as paint goes it depends on how the hot tanking comes out, I really don't know what to expect because I have never had it done.

lesson learned for the day.. When bringing your rotating assembly down for balanceing bring your flywheel too (includeing bolts). I never realized or even thought about that. The engine however is at the machine shop and getting tanked and prepped for machineing. Tomorrow I will be dropping of the above parts, includeing my key way for my crank which I forgot. I was told they would be starting the process in a couple of days

wow 50 more hp...yea dont listen to this guy. a 2871 is tooooo small of a turbo to run on a built motor as yours. like i said id look into an hx40 or 35r.

I will have to look into those options as long as they can meet my criteria.I want full boost around 4000 rpm, would like to stay bottom mount, I would also like to be around 350-400 whp at about 19psi, keeping the T25 flange is a must for me due to ease of keeping things simple. With that being said the Gt series turbo's are pretty much everything I am looking for... I know my bottom end is going to be solid, but it is a platform that I built to handle much more power then I would ever really put at it. This car will probably never be anything more then a street car. It will deffinetally never see any drifting events except from the parking lot. It's main purpose is weekend cruising...... A hx40, isn't that used on cummins diesel engines? The link here doesn't show effieciency past 300 hp .... http://www.holset.co.uk/files/...0.phpThe 35r sounds pretty beefy though might have to look and study more, I thought R.O.M tunes were only good upto 500hp? I don't want to go stand alone. My top end and turbo upgrade won't be untill at least the end of next summer, so I have some time to make up my mind. I want to be able to drive this car as much as possible next year before I have to send the cpu for it's initial tune at enthalpy or JWT.
