Massive sigs, pics we dont need, threads repeated 10,000 times , stupid replys, people who refuse to search, and post whoring EAT BANDWIDTH. If I could afford to make a donation that would actually make a difference I would. I appreciate that this place was set up to make everyone feel welcome. I think thats great. But there are ways to very easily save this site a bunch of money, and it starts at the bottom of every post.

You got a new modification for your car? Great. I dont care. If its really necessary the mods can make one big post with everybodys mods as an archive.

Noobs-if you have a post count of one, we all know that you are new. Creating a post just to say hi is a waste of time and money.

SEARCH. use it. We do not need a mountain of posts on the same thing. If you have a question about sleepy eyes, IT HAS ALREADY BEEN ANSWERED. with the level of membership this joint has it would be an impossibility that any question about pulleys, clutches, lights, rims, shift knobs, or someones underwear have not been answered. You CAN find another thread with exactly the same subject matter. Expand on it.

post whoring. you can get along without putting your 2 cents in on every thread. Think QUALITY, not QUANTITY.

I think its worth mentioning that its not postwhoring or repeating threads that take up bandwidth, its pictures. Pictures take up at least 75% of nico's bandwidth.

As for stopping funny threads and repeating threads on useful information, im not going to stop them. Im here to have just as much fun as the next person in addition to having a great resource for information. Old threads contain old information, plus its sort of like reveiw when someone brings up the subject again in a new thread :pface

Driveability is the art of realizing that something is "A" problem, not "THE" problem. I realize that post whoring is not the only cause of bandwidth use, but when you have a pile of threads all talking about this same thing, with a bunch of the same people with massive sigs postwhoring in them, it eats bandwidth. I like this joint. I'd like to stay. But cleanup is required, and Thats what moderators are supposed to do. I am a member at another site that has closed registration because they figured out what eats bandwidth and they decide to do something about those people. They set forth rules and ENFORCED them. longstanding members get booted when they break the rules. This has lead to a site that is clean of stupidity, low of bandwidth use, and has the highest quality tech I have found. There is no bs, and everything can be easily read and understood. there are very few repeat threads, and the few that are repeated are rideculed. this has lead to a bunch of trustworthy, respectable guys that know what they talking about. bandwidth usage is kept to a minimum, so the site runs quick and clean. Maybe the other place spoiled me, but I definetly cosider them The high water mark.

I am NOT attacking the mods. You guys are great. I just think that you should be afraid to chuck somebody every once in a while. And if you decide to pitch me for MY OPINION, thats fine. Just dont block my ip, im not the only one who gets on here through this computer.

A little cleanup, some hard moderation, small (not just smaller) sigs, and a stop to repeat posts will make the site look cleaner, as well as help facilitate the transfer of useful information to whoever needs it.

THe only pictures that take up the bandwidth is the photopost and the attached pictures as well as navigation buttons.

Linking an image from another server DOES NOT take up bandwidth.

In fact searrching takes up more server time than posting a new thread.

But I do agree with mike, the 'postwhoring' has got to stop. The general offtopic forum and some others have gone to ****.

Yes, well that works well for that site. IMHO, that sounds like no fun.

If you ask me, NICO is about more than more than being a car enthusiast. It's a place where people can get together and just shoot the breeze (especially in General Chat). I know if NICO turned into the site that you just described, I'd stop visiting. Just my $.02.

mikeG - Some of what you say as merit.

However, even though almost every question on earth HAS already been asked, if we forced everyone to just search and not discuss, this place would be more of a library than a source of enjoyment.

We are actively addressing some of the BW issues, but here's the deal: We are the biggest and the best for a reason. No other Nissan site has the activity and enthusiasm we have, and that's what's great about NICO. There's a sense of family and camaraderie here, and I think we can all tolerate a few n00b questions here and there for the sake of doing the right thing.

Postwhoring needs to be curtailed somewhat, and we're also gonna work on that (ahem, Mods). :)

mikeG, let me add your opinion is respected. Criticism is constructive to us providing a better site for everyone.

I, for one, plan on reducing my useless post count, as well as, once I get the means to, contributing to the site. I love what we have here, and I'm pretty sure everyone else does too. Therefore, while the criticism is constructive and somewhat warranted, the idea that this site should be completely closed off to a little bit of immaturity and randomness is absurd. We're all here to learn and have fun, I believe we can do both quite well as is.
