You being a musician has nothing to do with it. Yes i'm talking about the founders and the early 90s, and underground. so if you know all about the good stuff, how can you even say lil wayne is good with all the great hip hip that is out there. All of them would destroy him lyrically with there vocabulary. lil wayne is just mother goose type rap simple minded.91SilviaKs wrote:
first off....let me start off by saying, that I am an avid muscician...My only other joys in life are cars, bikes, and undergraound hip-hop (real hip-hop son) from the streets...as far as your assinine questioning, you will get different answers depending on who you ask..Do you speak of original hip-hop (Sugarhill Gang) or are you talking more of the early ninties gangsta ****...Ohh and by the way, I dont own or listen to the radio....ever
What ever is clever bro...Im obviously fighting a losing battle talking to you...listen to what you want, even if its s h i t t yLeroyBrown wrote:

AZ would destroy lil wayne lyrically.91SilviaKs wrote:everyone keeps talking Wayne in the present....maybe I should post up some older mixtapes, and well let everyone decide who is best?? let me know if I should....Im gonna upload about 7,000 songs worth that would smoke those guys in the first link.....
Just as you have your opinions, I have mine...and it seems as tho neither of us are going to be swayed by the others thoughts...I will check your boy out, just so I can say beyond the shadow of a doubt that wayne is better...Ill give you that...LeroyBrown wrote:

Hot Boys is NOTHING without Lil Wayne.
SQad is NOTHING without Lil Wayne.
Cash Money is NOTHING without Lil Wayne (Baby even knows it, thus why everything Cash Money Records focuses has only been him for the past few years)
yes...yes....yesadrians_s13 wrote:I don't watch MTV (mostly because its crap. They don't even play music videos anymore, wtf?)..
but let me just say a few things regarding this thread:1) solja boy is Epitome of crap2) solja boy should not be mentioned in the same sentence as Lil Wayne3) Lil Wayne actually has skill and has been in the game for a decade already, he's not new, so there shouldn't be comparison between him and "old school rap," unless of course you're talking about like east coast new york biz markie type stuff... then that's more hip hop than anything.4) music and mainstream changes every year, yet Lil Wayne has still managed to make gold and platinum records with every release and has featured in almost every other R&B singers and other rappers' singles and albums that a) self promoted himself b) sold their records
no need to hate on Lil Wayne.
I've listened to rap pretty much all my life and appreciate all of it (cept that solja boy bullsh^T). From conscious rap to gangsta rap. No need to hate. Like I said, the game changes every year. If rappers like Nas and Wu can't change to accomodate to the change, how do you expect newbs to purchase? You're only gonna get hardcore listeners (long time fans) to buy records... and that isn't enough nowadays. Hell, even Common is switching things up...

o not at all!!!koukicody wrote:With the exception of Wu Tang, I just plain don't like rap. Is that so wrong?
got that song....love it, I think he was still in the womb when he recorded thatadrians_s13 wrote:dammit, I'm at work and can't see youtube.
but if you want gangsta ****...
"Gangsta sh1t" (actual name of song) - Lil Wayne ft. Petey Pablo (500 Degreez) -> Lil Wayne's last verse is FIRE. He was like 7 when he recorded that album (not really LOL, but he was still young compared to others)
im my opinion f**k yous3teen wrote:in my opinion f**k lil wayne...
man... Lil Wayne will verse on an already used radio rap beat and MURDER it making it even better than the original song. AND its been proven.... check out all the Sqad-Up mixtapes when Wayne was reppin SQ back in like '02 or something.s3teen wrote:in my opinion f**k lil wayne... he has catchy songs but do people really listen to songs just for the million dolllar beats??? just wondering
not at all. I've really been into a lot of Electronica/electro pop type of stuff lately (i.e. datarock, digitalism, etc)koukicody wrote:With the exception of Wu Tang, I just plain don't like rap. Is that so wrong?

This is an easy answer. He is marketable. He sells records because he is Pop Culture not because he is a good rapper / hip hop artist.50 Cent is a perfect equal. At his prime he had a 6 pack and pleanty of million dollar beats so guess what he ruled the game as well.ANVIL wrote:the people hating on lil wayne dont keep up with his mixtape stuff. if they did they wouldnt be insulting him and at least give him props to where its due. sounds like you are the ones listening to all the radio, because its a different type of songs that he makes from mixtape to radio. the guy literally makes 2-3 songs a day, or at least drops a verse or 2 on someones track. i mean, this year alone hes been on something like 75+ features that arent his own songs. if he sucks so bad then why would everybody want him on their tracks? of course if you make that many songs he changes it up and makes those silly raps... your favorite rapper does too, ill gaurentee it
this is by far the most pointless post in the entire thread...it deems no responce..rcabrita wrote: This is an easy answer. He is marketable. But serioulsy when lil wayne claims himself to be the best rapper alive it and you cant speak english that is a problem. The only people that agree with this are people in his camp, the people he has collaborated with and Robin Thicke
Also I have seen him live in concert and he was too blasted to perform. MTV music awards he spent his performance barely holding his pants at his knees.
That plus he giggles on a track...Who does that
