Hes just been in faster. It works well. There are still gains to be seen without upping the boost. Better flowing exhaust will help for sure, but you definitely don't need it to spool any sooner.

Haha thanks Scott, but yeah, sell yourself. Time for better flow. We'll do that, hit the dyno, then talk about upping it.

Did you order the new intake yet or am I doing that? Lol

Edit: PS. I swear to god if you make me pull that engine to build the internals you'll be doing lsd at the same time.

Yeah dude change out your exhaust first.. You'll easily get 20 hp just by doing that especially with your turbo. I would hold off and see how the engine holds for a while on 7psi before upping it. Oh and if your gonna end up doing the interns def upgrade the valve springs.. You'd be able to more safely raise the rev limiter that way and get an extra few hundred rpms of peak power

I would change them to something ala SPEC-V springs while we're in there for reliability's sake, but without a way to raise the limiter (atleast without getting something like the powerpup again) or without a standalone to properly support this engine he's probably pretty much SOL for that. For someone willing to mount their own crank wheel and pickup to get a more 'normal' signal then I'm sure standalone is an option (if you can control the dbw throttle). There are so many things to take in consideration, which makes working on this slightly more difficult than others. Not that the Nissan world ever has it easy (if you dont have a vq or something of skyline/sylvia lineage).

Edit: Anyone know if the rev limiter be changed with a consult3? I'm too lazy to dig out the service manual. Might have to suck up to someone at Nissan...

Wouldnt the boost add extra stress on the valve springs anyway without raising the rev limiter? and would you use internals from a Spec-V engine as well? What would you use if you rebuilt the internals and what benefits would they have on an n/a engine if any?

Exactly, which is why the spec-v valvesprings would be a good idea.

As far as internals, I'm still not completely familiar whats out there for this engine yet, but I'm sure someone makes some stronger rods and forged pistons for it. Not sure what this uses for head bolts, but if ARP or another reputable company makes head studs and stronger rod bolts I'm sure it wouldn't hurt for a little more peace of mind too.

NA the spec-v pistons would bump the compression up approximately another point. Thats one place some of the extra 25hp of the QR25DE-HO comes from.

I know JWT made some internals for the QR25DE for some earlier models but I emailed them about it a while ago and they said that Nissan changed like an oil pan feed or something like that and that the internals aren't comparable with the newer QR but I found it kinda bard to believe cause the thing he said that was changed didn't sound like it would make a difference for anything internal.

And according to SFR's website with their new QR turbo they may be in the works of making some new internals. It'll be interesting to see what happens

I know the balance shaft removal kit no longer works on the newer motors. It even appears the sparkplug size is different. BKR7E-11s didn't fit in the Altima, but I see people using them in older QR25DE turbos in SERs. The plugs in the Altima's QR25 were smaller.

I'm sure CP or another manufacturer can make something if I'm able to provide specs or have a piston to base it on. We'll have to see down the road what Scott wants to do. It's not my car afterall.

Not a question of what I want to do, it's a question of what I can afford. lol.

Summer project maybe. lol

Wonder how hard it is to find a wrecked altima or ser up here? Starting with at a minimum another block would at least give us some freedom to build as things come/become available.

New boost gauge to replace the condensation trapping, needle not working other one!

Yes I'll get a better pic once it's actually powered and working. Too cold in the garage tonight -18oC outside. Brrrrrr...

QR25DE, even though SFR just came out with a turbo kit for the 2.5, it must feel good going through this on your own and having it come out nicely!!! Kudos to you my friend, this thread will hit 20,000 view soon, but it is already epic!!!!

RACE X Boost-Bar gauge. To mount it (and ESP will love this), I used a petal lens hood from my canon lenses and cut off the petals. The gauge it right in snug. Epoxy is the winner here. Works for me.

Looks good, now go change the AEM face/bezel to match it. :P Yeah I'm picky. We'll wire that gauge up later today. Yay no more vacuum hose running through the firewall.

I'm impressed. Good job on the fab work. I didn't read all 9 pages, so were you able to do this under your $2800 limit?

Hells yes... without labor, but labor was pretty much free with myself and my friends. Mike ^^.

Lol shhh.... I expect him to put out his clutch first anyways.

I think we're going up to 10psi when the new datalogger arrives. Might have to switch down to a (slightly) smaller injector so the ecu isnt adding so much timing on the top end from the maf voltage shifting of the safc (theory). Won't know till we try it, monitor everything, and get it on the dyno.

Agh so lazy. I should be doing my own cams right now. Fail.

PS. Cutting up the spring larger than 10 so he can't use it.
