For those that live in areas that have a cold winter, these are just the ticket. All of these units are the latest and greatest from Directed Electronics. All units are the Viper brand and will do manual transmissions and turbo timer with no additional parts. I have been installing/selling remote starters since they came out and have never been more impressed with a lineup than these new units from Viper. I also stock all necessary interfaces if you want to install it yourself or just get a better deal on the interface. I also include all wiring documents available to me if you want to install it yourself or maybe have a friend do it. And like with all purchases from me, I make myself available for email or phone tech support. Please check out the links provided for in-depth information on each unit. Or feel free to ask me about any unit in this thread. I have already installed dozens of these so far this fall.... so ask away. On to the goods!

Would like to purchase a 5501. Have a few question though...

Is the 519H2 garage door interface compatable with the 5501 remotes ? If so can you supply one and what is the cost ?

I've installed a number of remote starters before but never a Viper. Can this unit be configured without a Bitwriter ?

Can you provide wiring information and some tips for installation in a 2005 Altima 2.5 S ?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry for the stupid question: But how does it do manual transmissions, you have to hold down the clutch to start the vehicle.

No, the garage interface is not compatible with the new remotes. The new remotes use a completely new type of rolling code.

There are certain features that you can program more extensively with the Bitwriter. Basically it gives you a few more options under certain features. For example under run time: With the standard programming button you can choose from 12, 24 or 60 minute run time. With the Bitwriter you can choose between 1-60 minutes in 1 minute increments.

With a purchase I include all of the tech information that is available to me in the form of wiring info etc. You can also feel free to call or email me for tech support.

First of all you will have to interface with the clutch switch. That way every time the remote start is activated it will send the signal to the ECU to make it think the clutch is engaged.

The safety feature of the remote start will do the rest.

When you know you want to remote start the car on the next start up, then you have to follow this sequence:

Before you shut the car off,

1)Foot on brake2)E-brake ON-OFF-ON3)Foot off brake4)Remote start vehicle5)Take key out (car stays running)6)Open Door(get out)7)Close Door8)Lock the doors with remote (car shuts off and is ready for remote starting)

This looks like a lot to do, but once you have done it several times it's no big deal. Because steps 5-8 you would be doing every time you get out of any car.

OK. Thanks for the information.

Is there a garage door interface available that is compatable ? If not, will there be an interface unit available in the near future ?

I can't imagine that there would be a loss in functionality with the newer high end units in contrast to the older units.

I don't know of any plans for a new garage interface. They didn't sell very well. Especially now that most new cars come with Homelink.

I have sold one of those units in the 16 years that I have been selling DEI products.

I am curious If I can acquire from you all the documentation for the 5301 LE?

You want the the owners/installation manual? If so, you can get that directly from Directed Electronics. Just give them a call and talk to their customer support. 1-800-753-0800

I do not..... their site for dealers is password protected. So I can't give you the URL..... you won't be able to open it.

You can maybe get them from their consumer website.

Nope, I sell a module that does door locks, and immobilizer by-pass all in one. It doesn't even require you to lose a Intel. Key

The module runs $50

What exactly are you asking? Can I get chipped keys or an interface to bypass chipped keys?

I have a Infinity FX35 2007 and have been to a couple of local directed retailers looking for a remote starter system. It seems no one has recent experience with my car and they are not sure what funbtionality I will get (or lose) or the parts to use. I have the intellikey with proximity sensor and am looking for remote start, no security is needed.

1.Will I have to carry both the intellikey AND the DEI remote? Or will a bypass allow me to leave the intellikey in the car (it WON’T lock the door with the key in the car as it stands now).

2.Will I be able to start the car remotely, unlock the car and engage the normal ignition WITHOUT having to stop the engine and restart? (I have heard of numerous fx owners that say they have to engage the brake and stop the car motor and then restart, the dealer is NOT SURE).

3.Can I use the OEM remote to start the car through a pattern of pulses? (Yes, I know the range will be limited).

4.Will I have to sacrifice an intellikey for this system to work?

5.Please list the parts needed and any caveats I should be aware of installing this system

1) You will have to carry both.2) You will be able to perform a normal ignition take-over like any "normal" ignition keyed vehicle.3) I would highly recommend against it. It would open up all sorts of problems.4) You will not lose an Intellikey.5) You would need any of the new systems that I have for sale above and a DLPK interface module. The DLPK runs $55.

1-way is just a standard remote. 2-way is a confirming remote. So it will confirm every button push that you make. So if you are starting your vehicle from a long distance, you can be assured that the command was actually received. The 5601, which I do not have listed is $199 shipped. It is the same as the 5101 only with an alarm. The 5701 and the 5901 are both 2-way systems with alarm, keyless, remote start. They are both listed above.

Thanks,

Toby

Sorry man, I really can't go much cheaper than that. Pretty much most of your online locations are not authorized dealers. They may or may not even be familiar with the product. Authorized dealers are not even suppose to sell from an internet site. I do not have a site that I sell from where you can go and purchase it via a "shopping cart". I only sell from my actual store front and on here. Even on here, members still have to contact me one way or another to purchase.... so I get a little bit of one-on-one with them. I can make sure they understand the product and give them professional advice on what they are looking for. I have been an authorized Viper dealer for over 20 years now. I provide unparalleled support via email or over the phone. I provide all of the vehicle wiring information to you, that is available to me, with every purchase. I have literally walked some of our members on here through an entire install. With that being said, you may just care about the absolute lowest price you can find it for..... so I understand if you get it somewhere else.

Thanks,

Toby

p.s. Obviously if I am only $10-$20 or so more, then I think I can handle matching the price. What price were you finding it for?

The 5901 is an awesome system! I guess I am not sure what you mean by "Does everything come in the box?" It is brand new, so it is a complete unit. With the purchase I send you wiring information for your particular vehicle and you can contact me for support via email and or phone. What vehicle will this be going on? If it is a S13 with the 1-wire locking system, I also include the relay and wiring for that.

Thanks,

Toby

Functionality wise how different are the 5701 and the 5901? And how difficult is self-installation on an Altima with CVT?

The 5901 is a 1 mile range system. The 5701 is only a 1500 foot range system. The buttons will all work the same on both systems. However, the 5901 has the advantage of the LCD screen.... so you can adjust things like the shock sensor easily from the remote.

Install would be a little tougher than the average car. You will also need to purchase a module that does the immobilizer by-pass and door locks etc. Does it have push button start? The CVT won't make any difference as far as the install goes.

Yes it has a push start button. From what I've heard installing an alarm like this should not really be attempted by somebody like me who's just got some experience installing head units, and at worse the steering wheel adapter. Though I do understand fairly well the basics of electronics (from school). Would you say the same?

Also, what's your opinion on the Viper vs Autopage alarm systems?

Since it has push button start, then it would be a bit of a handful.... especially if you have never even done a remote start install. Some shops won't even do push button start vehicles. I just did a push button 2008 Altima on Saturday that even had a manual transmission.... which made it even more difficult. DEI makes a interface module that makes it a little easier, but it's still very time consuming. And since it's not a traditional type of remote start install, your average local friends that may know something about remote starters, will not know about this setup. I would be more than happy to give you help over the phone if you needed it though. I always live by the saying: "if you don't know how to do something, then teach yourself".

I much prefer the Viper product over anything else. I have been a dealer, at one time or another, of all the "major" brands out there...... and DEI product is what I have stuck with over the last 20 years.
