Keep the cap on your radiator closed, open the cap on the PBM swirl tank and start the car and fill up the tank as it bleeds the coolant for you.

LOL, pulling my engine would be such a pain for me.
motoman399 wrote:what i do is have the down pipe still connected, and when im putting the trans back in i pull down on the down pipe angling the engine enough for the trans to clear everything. good luck. its looking nice
Thanks haha. That's a pretty good idea as well.

I'll be installing my new rear main seal and a few other things later today, can't install the clutch yet because no machine shops are open today to resurface my flywheel.

Just read you're whole thread at work and just wanted to say your car is awesome! I do have one question. On the top of the 5th page you mention that you thought your brake check valve was going out and causing your idle to drop when braking. Just wondering if replacing that fixed the problem because I am experiencing the same thing. Thanks and keep up the good work!

Thanks! The reason for my bad idle was my air filter.Since I'm using a chopped up airbox from an Altima (or was it a Maxima? Forgot), the airbox was kind of cramped in there and the crappy filter that came with it restricted the air too much.

I replaced the paper filter with a better one from K&N and that fixed my idle and stumbling problem. If you haven't already, check for vacuum leaks and clean your IACV (Idle air control valve), my mom's Q45 had that problem and cleaning that out fixed the problem.

I didn't do that much today, just a few things I had left to do, gotta wait for the weekday to get my flywheel resurfaced...Today I replaced the stock fork pivot with a stronger one from SPL.The stock one was pretty worn.

New SPL part installed!

And also the rear main seal got installed.I put a bit of oil on the inside of the seal and the seal slipped in super easy.

I greased up everything and put the fork and throwout bearing back in and wiped off the excess grease. It moves super smoothly!

My dirty transmission sitting under the car.I cleaned it up a bit but didn't take a picture, I'll clean it some more later. If you want to pull out your transmission, the transmission jack makes it much much easier, I highly recommend it. I bought it from Harbor Freight for $130.Also, when you're gonna remove your pilot bushing I recommend renting a slide hammer puller from your local parts shop, I pulled mine out under a minute and it was easy.

Random picture I took of my clearance.350z wheels with stock spec tires with KYB struts and lowering springs the previous owner put on. It's pretty close!

Glad the clutch swap is going well! I hate waiting for things, I called around and found a machine shop that was open on Saturdays, had to drive 45 minutes to get there though haha.

You're going to love the clutch feel without the damper box thing, you feel the clutch a lot more. With the new clutch you're going to think it's a totally new car!

Haha you should dude it was pretty simple, bleeding the thing was the only annoying part.

Well, I got everything installed. I spent some time to clean the transmission since it was so dirty.
I sort of wanted to clean it up with the dremel like I did for the differential cover but that'd take way too long.
Image

I also bypassed the clutch dampener and replaced the stock clutch hose with a stainless steel line from SPLparts, I love their products!
Image
I thought it would be a bit tricky to bypass it but it wasn't all that hard, I rotated the end part of the pipe towards the hose as much as I could, then I curved the looong part of the pipe so I could finally thread the hard line into the hose.
Not too hard.
Oddly though, when I filled the clutch master with brake fluid, it wouldn't drain down even when I had the hardline disconnected. So I slipped a silicone hose onto the hardline and sucked on it for a split second but somehow I got a tiny bit of fluid in my mouth. YUCK, it wasn't too much and I spat it out quickly but man did it taste nasty!
But that got the fluid flowing normally again and I started bleeding the fluid.
I bought the one person speed bleeder from SPLparts so that made it easy for me to get most of the air bubble out of the system, then my dad came home and he did the pedal pumping and I did the fluid filling so that went even quicker.

Also, my front lower control arm was a bit rusty.
Image
So, I removed as much rust as I could and repainted it.
Image

And my differential is still clean!

Lol, you are like OCD about getting everything clean. Hats off to you sir.

I'm too lazy and have zero patience.

May I ask why you are supporting the exhaust with a jack?

Crazy.

I was supporting the exhaust because I had it unbolted from the downpipe and I didn't want it getting in the way.
I had to unbolt the downpipe so the engine angles down easier.

Thank you!

Yeah I drove it with the new clutch, feels nice, almost stalled while pulling out of my driveway haha.
It engages lower on the pedal stroke and harder than the stock clutch, but it didn't take long to get used to it, I like it.

The whole pedal stroke doesn't feel stiff, which I thought was what'd happen.
It just feels stiff in the area where your clutch engages and disengages, my pedal tries to throw my foot back when I'm disengaging but I got used to that already.
Like everyone says, you can feel where you clutch engages and disengages better, I like it.

^^looks like we both share goofy avatars lol

sounds good razi, i'll have to do that sometime. I started to take it off one day before work and the 10mm wrench kept rounding off the clutch line cuz it was so tight so I said f*** it. Next time I'll give myself enough time and try the flat part of the vice grips on those lines

btw get yo PM straight son lol

Haha oops I forgot to turn on PMs!
It's turned on now. :)

Yeah, when using the 10mm wrench I rounded out one of my rear brake lines so right now my rear right brake line still hasn't been replaced by an SPLparts line.
Vice grips work good to remove the rounded lines though.

I went to Kragen and bought one of these.
Image
The solution!
I haven't rounded any lines, besides ones I already messed up on, with the flare nut wrench.
Good tool to have.

Bahaha, we have mostly metric and only a few standards.

I finally washed and waxed my car today, it's been a few months since it's last wash.
The interior was dirty as heck too, finally it smells better haha.
