Update!
I bought a new clutch, Spec Stage 2 since my stock one was slipping under boost.
Yay!
I jacked up the car and started unbolting everything.
My dad helped me remove the transmission and everything else.Out with the old...
In with the new.
My rear main seal was leaking a little bit so I thought I'd replace it while I was in there.
Cleaned up, and inserted new seal.
The bellhousing was a bit dirty when we got to it, there was also a bit of gunk at the bottom where the oil leaked from the rear main seal.
My dad cleaned it up a lot while I was hunting for a tool to remove our old pilot bushing. We also cleaned up the pivot arm and stuff and installed a new throwout bearing but I'll take a picture once it's all installed.
Still to do:-Install a larger alternator from the Quest, Krazydriver gave me one a few weeks ago.-Replace the stock clutch fork pivot with a stronger one from SPL.-Bypass the clutch dampener and replace the old clutch hose with a stainless one from SPL parts.
Woot!!! I'm excited for this new clutch, I haven't been able to freely go into boost without my clutch slipping.
Also, if some of you can give me ideas...When we were taking out the transmission, a small lump on the bellhousing (Circle'd in the picture below...) prevented us from pulling the transmission out nicely, it kept getting us stuck at the firewall. We ended up unbolting the pressure plate and dropping the transmission down with the clutch, I can't do this in reverse when I install the clutch because I need to keep the clutch aligned while I'm bolting down the pressure plate. We rotated the transmission and everything but the transmission's input shaft kept hitting the pressure plate and we couldn't drop it.
Here is the lump I'm talking about...
So, I'm wondering if anyone has pointers to prevent that lump from installing my transmission.I rotated the transmission clockwise to dodge the part where the starter bolts onto, (Tips thanks to spooled240), and I rotated the transmission here and there but the lump was about 1cm too tall to dodge the firewall.I loosened the motor mounts to try and angle the engine but all it did was raise up the engine and didn't help much.Any pointers?I'm tempted to just cut it in half.
Anyways, thanks for watching!
