will the y-pipe be 2.25" or 2.5". I am going to get the artisan catback and it's 2.5 I would like to keep that all the way through. Raceline did say a larger diameter pipe...

Sorry Guys it's been really busy around here.

Dyno was done on thursday but the results were not as high as expected. Thats' why I didn't rush in to tell everybody.

The car made up to 8hp around 4700rpm and 6hp at peak. But I want more from it. There were 2 factors that contributed to the lower numbers we feel:1) the test car came with it's large and bulky winter rims AND Winter tires, although a minor detail, it does affect the number slightly even if it's only 2hp

2) the pipe the was returned from the benders had a slight deviation from the original design. The merge collector that was supplied had more of a "T" shape to it than a "Y" which we feel is causing some turbulance in the flow, thus hurting numbers.

With all that said the car is going back to the same dyno this coming friday to see how the computer has adjusted after a week of driving and hopefully get a few more ponies out of it. If they show up then the production run will be started with the collector issue fixed. Meaning we'll be claiming "x # of hp" but your likely going to get a few more. I'd rather under rate the part a bit than artificially inflate the numbers like many other companies do.

If the numbers we're looking for don't show up then the car will be put back to stock and we'll wait for a new sample to arrive and start testing all over again.

Cliff notes:

-car made ok power-we're trying to get more from the part before we release it

That is amazing and awesome that you guys are holding off for the perfect product. You could just say **ck it and give us what you have already but you're not and that is worth a ton in my book. Thanks, and I can't wait for the finished product.

Careful where you go with this kind of statement. "OUR Y PIPE PROVIDES 15 HP WITH RACING WEIGHT RIMS AND TIRES"

What exactly do you consider "large and bulky" winter rims and tires? I'm hoping the only reason you mentioned this is because the stock test was completed on a different set of rims and tires then the PIPE test was. If thats the case then i wouldn't want to see another dyno until a stock can be taken with current rims/tires

I know it sounds mean, but if we are worried about the extra 2hp, then i think we should be comparing components properly

All that was meant by the statement was that winter tires 99% of the time are (a) heavy, and (b) oversized compared to stock.

for a better analogy is a car with 20 inch chromes will dyno less than the exact same car with oem 17's.

the added circumferance and drivetrain weight does effect hp, it's a fact.

That said since the car had winters on for the first test, it will be dynoed again with the same setup next week.

If you read the rest of the statements made, I mentioned that I'd rather under rate the part then overrate it.

I don't think even with the revisions we are going to see 15hp, but if I can get a reliable 10hp to the wheels then I am happy.

LOL i knew i was going to hurt someones feelings.....

I'm well aware of rotational mass/drive train loss/tire diameter all playing a part on the dyno.

More or less what i was trying to say is i hope that the "stock/baseline" dyno run was also with the snow/winter tires.

Before everyone jumps down Joes throat, friday I was to go in for the Dyno, unfortunatly the folks doing the dyno last minute could not accommodate me. I believe we have Tuesday roughly planned for another dyno run.

They said the new sample pipe should be ready in 2 weeks and the final pipe should be ready for market in 4-6 weeks max. Let's hope for the best!

hey now, no need to get snippy. you cant rush perfection, and it isn't like Racingline didn't just release a STS kit to feed our mod bugs, right? and considering how difficult it is to get HP out of an N/A vehicle without building internals and what not, i dont really mind waiting to make sure that we get the most power out of so inexpensive a part as a y-pipe.

the current delay is due to the fact we moved production to a new vendor/bender. The previous one could not make the tight radius bends we needed to ensure a smoother flow for the new sample. plus they really drag their feet. So we took the jigs else where and the new sample is in process of being made right now.

Ok. so you guys don't satisfy with the result (6-8hp), how much do you expect it to be then ? Is it going to be easy to install ? if the scale is 1-5. How difficult you going to rate it ? How hard to take out stock bolt ?

we expect 10~15hpit's going to be easyon that scale its a 1 being the easiestyou need an impact wrench, either the 12V plugin to the car type or the electric impact wrench or air tool impack wrench.

or a big a** breaker bar

Last time I checked it was 4-6 weeks until the final product. So that gives us mid March to early April.

2.5s are an inline 4, they don't have a Y pipe like the 3.5s.

CC'd from other site

the new pipe is now completed from the new production facility. We chose to switch the production facility in favour of a shop with better tooling in an effort to make the part better. I believe we have accomplished this task and will get the test car back on the dyno as soon as it can be booked. If all goes well which I'm sure it will, final product will roll out in as little as 3 weeks, perhaps 4weeks for good measure and to make sure they get packed up and ready to ship. Trust me I know your all anxious, and I want to sell it to you all, I really do, but I want it to be right!
