Seriously though. Picture this:

you're racing with some dude down the highway.... 65... 75...85...95...105....... and you pass a speed trap. You're caught-- you see him pullin out after you as you pass. Now honestly, you're already going 100 or so, and you've got this tricked out fast *** car.... you think we could take the cops?

I know those police interceptors are badass sometimes, and once in a while they've even got tuned up sports cars. But if we're talking about the average speed trap cruiser- you think taking off and catching the next exit or so would work? Or would that po-po catch right up to us and tag us for both offences??

Ok obviously this is hypothetical, I dont wanna hear "oh thats illegal I wouldnt do that blah blah..." what do you think would actually happen?

:naughty

Unless your car travels faster than a radio signal I advise against running from the police. Atempting to elude is not a pretty charge :) Once you're caught you then get a ticket/charge for every possible thing you have wrong or done wrong. I had a friend run from the cops, caught 10 mins later. 15 charges on him, ranging from improper U-turn and no signal to possession of illegal substance.

funny you mention thismy friend easily drives one of the sweetest VW's in the city. he raced another frined on a highway, but there were cops behind them. he pulled over voluntarily, but the cop told him if he decided to keep going, he would have lost the cops for sure.

he was going 280km/h, not miles, kilometers, when he pulled over

hahaha

I'm sorry i wouldn't recommend doing that on an interstate or major highway were the only place you could exit was at an exit or at anytime for that matter. If you have to go a long ways to the next exit the cop will catch you.

Police use helicopters along highways to help catch speeders so if you could stay away from the cop, they may track you form the air.

It is possible still on smaller highways with many side streets that you could exit off onto an lose the cop.

Even then this isn't the good old days anymore and run from cops very rarly works.

Haven't you ever seen COPS:)

you dudes are missing the point-- of COURSE its not a "smart" idea... I'm talking about POLICE INTERCEPTOR VERSUS SLIVIA here... hahaha minus all the radios, hellicopters, whatever-- could we take em?!

I doubt it. The cop cars around here are pretty fast, but they're different than US cops so i'm not sure.

I'd never try to out run a cop though.

Even with their much hyped police packages, they are not a match for a well balanced sports car.Except don't forget that they will generally be better drivers than the vast majority of us, since they basically drive their cars for a living.

Even so i would not rercommend running from them, even if you are in an enivoroment were chances look good.A speeding ticket is a lot less of a charge than , evasion.I used to get them all the time (speeds that is).

On the other hand if you just se a cop turning around in you rear view, he doesnt have his lights on yet and hasnt established an attempt to pull you over, picking up speed to make a quick exit right away has worked for many a speeder.just be sure to pull over right away when he is behind and has his light bar on.

I have a friend that was racing on 83, and a undmarked cop turns on his lights and starts to run him and this other guy down. So my friend is just like **** and starts pulls over. The other guy who as doing 120 or so at the time doesn;t slow down at all. The cop follows him and catchs up to him and pulls him over, my friend just turns of the highway an leaves. He was so happy.

.The answer is no. You can't take them. You might beat your chest and think you could in your oversized winged, apexi N1 equipped, Type R stickered "well balanced" Nissan terror machine, but the cops already have you beat in the skills department. I spent time with the guys from BSR. They train cops in the art of hi speed pursuit/hi performance driving. The do amazing things with full sized automatic 2 ton Chevy's/Fords. Trust me, you're outclassed.

i heard this through the grapevine and its prolly some urban legend or something...

border patrol down in cali were sitting on the road one nite, when suddenly they heard a loud high pitched scream fly by them, and 220 mph flashed on their radar scope. the next nite it happened again, and same the nite after that. so they decided to set a road block down the road and that same nite the same thing flew by, well they finally caught whatever it was at the road block...some dewd in a tricked out lamborghini diablo wearing night vision goggles!

haha its prolly really fake, but man o man, would i love to do something like that one day :)

Ok yeah... I realise that SOME of them are trained to the max- to these unstoppable crime fighting supercops... but honestly.... not every cop is like that. I doubt it's even a significant percentage.

And anyways, I know at least my state (CT) has no-chase laws where they wont follow you over a certain speed or length of time. The speeding/evasion ticket really isnt worth putting other people's lives at risk, and it's true.

...or you could do that trick like in cannonball run where you pull off the road and these hot honeys in bikinis wash the fake layer of paint off your car with a garden hose and then you drive by the cops like whats up. that one would DEFINETLY work.

Not counting radios and backup all you have to figure is this: a cop car with lights on top can go 125 TOPS. One without cherries can go around 130-135. Some of the older ones (like the 93-95's) actually had governors at 137 mph, believe it or not. So, if you can go faster than 135, then you are probably gonna be able to outrun a cop. Now, if you happen to get into it with a State Penitentiary car..well consider yourself fuxored. Those version have the twin cam 4.6, which go somewhere around 150-155. There are rumors that a very few amount of highway patrol have these cars too...but chances are you would never see one if they did have it.

it depends on what kind of car it is. The older ones are extremely fast but the newer ones aren't. I raced a friend of mine with my old s14 through town. from 0 to what he said was 145 he never left me.

Yea you could run... roll your car.. wrap it around a tree.... explode into flames... and then get eaten by rats... and somewhere down the road become a urinal cake...

Even the crazies who run the Gumball know to pull over. The RUF that flew by at 206 this year but was clocked at 147 (thank God the gun had a limit) even pulled over. There were some guys in Germany or something who did a movie, two in fact, of them racing a Porsche and a Supra TT (I think), though the second time it was completely staged. Another guy in Germany (I'm not totally sure on locations of these stunts, in case it isn't obvious) ran from the cops in his Supra TT and lost them, he pulled up to his apartment, got out of his car, walked in, and was never caught.

cannon ball run? :)

and the "escape from stockholm(sp)" can not be staged :P

racing through entire cities at high high speeds can not be pulled off easily.

it was planned, but not staged :)real cops chasing them.

and that cosworth kicked total ***.... i love the sound of that thing.

Stockholm 2 was staged. By staged I mean that the cops knew about it and allowed it to happen, not necessarily closed the roads. And cannon ball run was a movie I believe, the inspiration for the Gumball I mentioned earlier, anyone else seen this year's Gumball video(s)? (I'd be willing to bet there was more than one)
