well from what i have learned about crown vics, is that the base model crown vics max out at 116, and that teh P71 (cop edition) crown vics, are speed limited to 129 or 139 ( i forget), the rear end has a 3.27 gearing, but some of the earlier models had a 3.55 rear gearing, and that gave a higher top speed, but the acceleration factor suffered a little bit, the crown vic has a 4.6 DOHC engine(from the mustang) that produces in the neighborhood of 225-250hp, but the brand new cop cars will have the 300hp mercury marauder, and they are working on removing the speed limiter than is programed into the computer, and as a side note, for cop having "calibrated" speedometers, tehy are actually only acurrate to 2-3% of the actual speed, so if you really wanted to fight it in court, you could bring up that info. the crown vic is built for in town rapid acceleration/deceleration, but not for long distance pursuits, and did you know on the old LT1 caprice engines, they have a hose that circulated engine coolant from the engine, all the time, instead of waiting for the thermostat to open, and on both the caprice classics, and crown vics, there is a little feature that turns off the A/C compressor when the throttle is open more than 75% ,and that both the caprice classic and crown vic, have the option of a aluminum driveshaft, instead of the steel driveshaft that comes on teh civilan models.
and if i remember correctly, at least with the FL camaros, they produce little over 500hp, and they are supercharged, and they are the ones that are really built for highspeed pursuits
hehe, dont ask why i know so much about cop cars, maybe i use it to my advantage
