Hmmm... Where to start. Great thread!!!

Well, for the past 5 years my work cars have been police package. A 96 Lumina, a 97 Crown Vic, a 2001 Interceptor and now a 2002 police Tahoe.

D240 said the P71 package CV is supercharged - it's not.

KCar - Dude, you're brilliant - Well said!!!

Frankenstein's right - The Interceptor is speed-limited to 129 (I've been there). In addition, I've raced my work car against my Q45. Now my wife ain't the best driver, but it's pretty simple to "stab-it-and-steer". The Interceptor got out quicker, but within 4 car lengths the Q straight up ate its lunch. What's more important is that the Q can run all day long at 150 mph, whereas the Interceptor chokes at 129 (probably less, the way they're maintained). So yes, they can be outrun. Not smart, not funny, but possible.

My only "evasion" story occurred in Tucson. Going about 60 in a 35 down the main road through town on an old Yamaha V-Max, I got clocked from the side. Immediately gave it enough throttle to reach triple digits, braked and entered a neighborhood. Scurried about until I found a dark carport. Rode right in, parked and sat as still as I could for over an hour, terrified that the PD would find me OR the homeowner would come out with a bat. Dumb a$$.

i was 15 driving my girlfriend home(about 6 miles from my house) in my moms 1996 monte carlo. there is this straight away(speed limit 45) between mine and her house, and i was like i wanna get on it.So as i was turning right onto the straightaway i floored it.i was going about 80 when i seen a car coming over a little hill in the straightaway, and for a second i thought "cop",but iwas like nah because one of the headlights were out so i keep it to the floor.as i passed the car the big reflective sheriff logo lit up.and when i looked in my rearview i seen him hit his lights and a u-turn.i didnt have a license,so i kept it to the floor and hit about 120 with him a pretty good distance back.i slowed down to like 65 and pulled a 90degree turn into my girl's neighborhood. and pulled to the side of her house and jumped out(damn always running lights). i looked around the side of the house to see the cop fly by with his lights on. man i was pumped!

well that was my story,if it doesnt sound exciting to ya'll ,i was 15 and my adrenaline was straight flowing at the time it happen

was the cops headlight out? i've gotten out of a ticket because of that in KY.

You guys need to move to Bowling Green, KY...

- There's a 1/4 mile track- Domestics run rampant here and are begging to get blown away by some imports- The police have a "no pursuit policy"...they will not chase you for a simple traffic violation- I live with two cops and I can get you out of speeding tickets, etc.

Attention all 240 owners...move to Bowling Green, KY!!!!!

Well up here in Richmond Hill we have very little chance of running away. Our cops have the 'ol chopper out most times and it has a responce time of like 2 minutes to most of York Region. Plus it has full night vision and infra red capabilities. So if you can't out run the cop in 2 minutes the Helo will find you. A few guys have tried to run but a whole lot have been busted. And to top it all off some of our roads now have "timing marks" painted on them. Time how long it takes a car to go from mark1 to mark2 and you have his speed. The Helo follows you until a cruiser can get you......real easy to get busted

my first cop evasion just happened friday night. i was heading to a friends house and there is about a 7 or 8 mile strecth of road that is no passing and about 3 or 4 miles in the no passing zone there is a neighborhood on the right that has a turning lane. i got stuck behind someone going 45 when the limit is 55 so i went dropped it in 3rd and started to pass them in the turning lane and as luck would have it a cop was passing by just then and i saw him turn on his lights so i pass the van, turn at the next stop sign make a left and pull down a street about 3/10 mile down the road. i wait there about 2 minutes or so then start to pull out and see the cop fly by. i guess he saw my headlights so as i pulled out i saw him stop and turn around so i turned back on the road i came from, went into another neighborood and waited for about 10 minutes and left safely. it was scary but a lot of fun. don't want to do it again if i don't have to.

and as for weird cop carsnorth vancouver - brand new jaguar xj painting like a normal police car, sirens and allcoquitlam - VW new beetle with cop paint (seriously, if that thing pulled me over it would jsut be funny. not saying i coudl outrun it, im sayin getting pulled over by a ****in beetle is funny)vancouver - volvo s40 with cop paint

i ran from cops twiceonce i was speeding and cop pulled uturn behind me so i floored it and started zigzagging thru residencial neighborhoods late at nightsecond time i blew thru radar in a school zone (30kph) going about 70 and i just kept going and zigzagging again (this was during broad daylight like 1pm in the summer)

its not a matter of outrunningits a matter of losing them

Sometimes it´s just to be nice and regretful.(if the cop is ok).

Other times they just drive you crazy with bureaucrazzzy.I have been halted a bunch of times just because the car looks "different".

I was riding with a freind the day we installed his t66 on his 3.0 CL. was 2 in the morn no cars out except the cop car sitting in a speed trap. i saw lights turn on and fade in the rear view. a min later we we got off and took a right, a left, a right and a left. parked the car in a parking lot and called his girl friend for pickup.

I was down at the races here in seattle, i was riding in a friends car because im usualy camera man for our crew. when on the 2-way i hear cops cops, 5-0 !!!.

over the radio the friend that rolled with me there was wondering were my keys were... in my pocket... "merlin" swings around and flys back to my car. the friend i rode with is sitting in the drivers seat spooked. i throw my keys at him and jump in the passenger seat. at this point we are at the rear of the pack. not good.

he starts the car up... i fumble with the cam-corder tape.

he drives slow at first. we see lights way swing behind us. and speed up quick. no lights on so i look at him and say. run.

fly up out of the area and are rolling hard. we meet back up at "chuck" as we call it and there is the white car. kids in a damn crown vic wanting to race. WTF !!!

you can't outrun the walkies....that's all i hafta say. i got busted goin 120 in a 60. cops were waitin on me a few miles up the road. i pulled over and said i was flirtin with some girls. Luckily they let me go...TRUE story. so i guess i outran a speed trap i knew nothing about, and he called it in up the road. YOU CANNOT OUTRUN A WALKIE.

i would at least tried to go a little farther to see if he caught up. if I don't see him in the rear view mirror, I would turn off my lights, down shift, exit, turn lights back on, go to the gas station, chillout, take a piss, put some gas in the car, buy some donuts, eat them donuts, go buy some drinks, get back in the car, figured out I need another piss, go back in, take a piss, come back out...that should be enough time to fool them cops. Then I bust out my cellphone, call my friend(s)/relative(s) come and pick me up...that's why I would do. But if the cop is catching up, go back to the part where I said turn off the lights, instead, pull the ***** over....lol then you can shut off the lights, hehe

i have a friend that would go to street races and you always run when the cops come. well this one time when everyone bolted, my friend's friend took the lead, thinking everyone was following him... after he was a distance away he realized no one was following him except the cops... he tried to outrun them but they sent the 'copters out to get him... he eventually got stopped and was put on house arrest... he had to wear this thing around his leg such that he had to put a bag around his leg just to take a shower.

Thank God, till this day, I've never had one speeding ticket or accident, guess I've just been lucky up to this point. But even if I had the means to outrun the cop, I'd rather just pull over and pay the fine instead of dragging it out into something that could be potentially dangerous, if your going like 100mph+, you gotta remember that there's other people on the road. And plus, I don't wanna end up on the t.v. in one of those "breaking news" things......
