my not so exciting story: late for work, doin 55 in a 40 and i see a cop buried in a group of cars. when i see him signal to do the u-turn i floor it, turn down the next street and pray my beater camaro was fast enough. i saw a van, got beside him, revved up, got in front of it and hit the brakes a couple times and pissed the guy off. He rode my *** and the cop was waaaaay back but right when i thought i was in the clear the van signals and turns right, leaving me all by myself. Cop turned his lights back on and got me. He was really cool and though i passionately denied that i was running, he knew what i did. He just told me to slow down and left. (the *only* time i've had luck w/ cops - they are ticket MACHINES around here.)

I of course didn't read all these replys, but you guys know me. I work in Law Enforcment (communications).

I skilled driver in a good car can take to police. The average police car, Crown Vic with interceptor makes like 240 to 260 HP. There really not that fast. I have done many hours as co-pilot. The Chevys use to run the LT1, again not that fast. The new Cameros will do 160 which is a little harder to beat.

If you are out on a back road and shoot past a cop at 100 mph and he is at a dead stop, would you really pull over and wait for him? Get real. Hit a few turns and lay low for about fifteen minutes.

Now my personal moto is I never run unless I am on a motorcycle. If your in a car, you run the risk of wrecking and killing your fool self. Remember these guys are paid to drive for twelve hours a day for how ever many years they have been doing this. Not to mention the training they have had to be able to chase down people like us who would run from them.

p.s. Radio's only come into play if there is another officer that can get in place to spike your ***.

And as far as license plates go, they have to get close enough to read them suckers. More people get away than most people think. But more get killed running from the law than you hear about.

Things to remember!

better pickup, easier to hide... yea I could see that...

...but less likely to wreck and kill your (fool) self? Uhmmmmmmmm nope.

I've heard that some highway troopers drive Camaro SS to chase speeders. Is that true?

Yup I'm preaty sure cops use camaros.. I was watching cops once and I saw a cop in a stang 5.0..

Quote »Haven't you ever seen COPS:)[/quote]

Let me tell you something about this show, It can be full of crap. There was a video going around the internet about a BMW M3 running form the cops. I think this was discussed on the BMW forum. It was great, the bimmer actually out ran a camaro LT1 (I think it was a first gen M3 so it wasn't as powerful as the newer I6 motors, and he managed to somehow spin the camaro.. ).. M3 is seen speeding off... they couldn't catch him.. at the end they say "And later the M3 was found on the side of the road, broken down." But if you look closely, while they were saying this the M3 was not coasting to a stop from a blow motor or watever.. it was just footage seen before... shown in slower motion. I bet that M3 was gone for good and they just made up the whole broken down thing.

I don't know what I would do because I don't think I'll ever blow past speed traps at 100mph.. but if you did you also have to think of the time it takes the cop to get up to that speed. What? 20 seconds? You have atleast a 20 second gain ahead of him (he's still got to get on the highway, make sure its clear and usually is off road so traction isn't the best for him) if you keep accelerating.. catch the next exit I wouldn't be surprised if you make it home free... I did see a BMW 5 series though blow past me one day left blinker signal on.. fast land all of that.. cops were everywhere though.. all the overpasses had cops they must have had all exits blocked.. but he still had a preaty good lead ahead.. half hour later I see him on the side of the road with a cop writing him up. That was during rush hour.. so that guy was a moron

By the way... for those of you interested, Getaway in Stockholm 3 is out. It features an NSX, speedboat, and helicoptor.

Not hard to find on Kaaza/whatever. Big file though, unless you have cable you probably wont want to download 700 meg.

Well the worst part is when you are on a motorcycle get pulled over and the cop says you were evading and get a felony on your record....., but in reality you were just cruising at a high speed and din't know the cop was behind you that really makes you think.

Another possible urban legend...but hey what the hell?

I live at the beginning (or end depending on how you look at it) of I-35,i heard a story about this cop that clocked a ZR-1 doing 120, just outside minneapolis, so he called ahead 20 miles up to have them set up a road block cause he knew they wer'nt gonna catch him the ole fashion way, so the guys @ the road block waited and waited, so they called up about 40-60 miles north to a little town called hinkley to ave them set up a road block, onca agin, no one saw the vette. So they hinckley boys called up to duluth to try and stop him on his way into here, some off duty guys to catch a cup of coffee and had heard about this vette, only to see one parked in a cafe parking lot. When they got out they heard the engine "tick tick ticking" as it was cooling down, and someone bought the officers a cup of coffee, as they came in.

Prolly Full blown BS but definately a coll story.

It is possible, but definatly suggest it. Over the summer me and a bunch of my friends go on top speed runs. There were 2 supras, 2 wrx's, and integra type r, Turbo b16 hatch, and a few others. We were doing about 140 when we saw a cop sitting on the on ramp with his lights off. His cherries quickly came on. I was in a wrx with my friend, so we punched it, pulled the ebrake and blendid in with traffic. Cop went flying right by us. our friend matt that has a blue supra said he got up to 155, cops never had a chance. The cop did end up catching the other supra because it got off at the first exit. We all drove back to the 24 hour mcdonalds we hang out at, and like 25 minutes later the red supra that got pulled over showed up. Cop let him go doing 130mph plus. He was lucky as hell, and all the cop said was damn you were going fast, i didn't think i was gonna catch any of you. We fly down 290 on the way to chicago alot to, but ive never even seen a cop turn there head at us. They are worring about more important things, or just really lazy, but works for me.

Well, about 3 years ago, when my brother had his riced ford probe at the time, decided to try and out run the cops. Luckily, we lived in Dunwoody Georgia at the time (Suburbs of ATL). Heres what happened, he was racing his friend and was going 120 plus, then I looked to the right and saw a cop, i yelled it out, my brpthers other friend, said gun it. Luckily, in Dunwoody, all of the neighborhoods are about 20 plus years old and have lots of trees and lots winding roads. We had been living there for about 8 yrs and knew all of the surrounding neighborhoods really well. Eventually, my brother turned into our own neighborhood, and people had recently put in road humps to help people stop, well, we had forgot about them totally and my brother went on them going about 60. So we got some air time and flew up into the air and landed hard with no suspension work at all, and got a flat. Went about another half a mile and got to our house, bent rim and all, oh yeah, my brothers friend was drunk and ended up puking. Cop ended up circling or hood with just the lights on for another 5 mins. Got away safely. Scary though.
