so i snagged another S13 SR today. this ones a redtop, my other is a blacktop.

got some solid motor mounts the other day.

picking up a moroso oil pan in a week, as well as another spare t25 with no shaftplay, but will be rebuilt.

i have one rebuild kit here awaiting the t25 in my closet. sooo thatll happen soon.

i was planning to start spending money on rebuild parts for the first SR, but the deal on a clean spare SR came up that was one i couldnt let slip away.

thats about all.

pics tomo before work? probably

cool. so the car overheated AGAIN. f*** this cold weather.

i figured out WHY finally tho. the rad (thickass mishimoto) was cooling TOO well, allowing the thermostat housing/coolant to stay too cold, and when it got hot enough to try to open the thermo, it just ingested ice cold coolant that was sitting dormant in the rad til that point. rinse/repeat and you get a motor that wont open the thermo at all to cool off cus the thermo doesnt think its that hot.... and thus overheats in 18* weather....

solution:

bigass piece of cardboard over the center portion of the rad, leaving 1/4 of the rad exposed on either end. car runs like a champ, but i havent braved trying the heater on the inside for fear of overcooling it again... so it was a COLD drive home tonight...

permanent solution:

im gonna be like a retiree and move to florida. then the car will never freeze.

win.

I dunno about your permanent solution there brotron.....It was freezing down there a few weeks ago. It'll just follow you. PA weather has that affect.

That's what I would have done w/ the cardboard. gg. ps; moving to florida sux because everyone drives slow/roads are flat and boring.

Yeah big semi trucks do the same thing with their vinyl grill covers in the winter. I was thinking the same thing about my new rad, sometimes in 20below weather my cooling acts up, but not like yours. Mine stays open too much and temps drop below running temp. I think it cools too well haha. It didn't do it that much this weekend, only like 5min on friday.

alot of ppl have them;

myself didderson and MGE all have them locally

they are stiff; you get alot more feedback from the rear and it feels solid as hell

Are there cooling fins on the head? If so, Blacktop. If not, Redtop.

No guy. We're talking about ways other than the valve cover color.
