correct. daily with a hint of drift.

SO, car nearly burnt the running light harness today. correction, burnt a foot of it. stupid a** insulated "summer fun cup" aka my 64oz beer party mug decided to frolic about in the trunk, causing the two leftover running light wires i forgot to tape off to run into eachother, blowing the 20amp fuse, then the plastic of the fuse melted and reconnected the metal fusable part, creating a now unfused direct short. cool. that burns the insulation RIGHT OFF the damned wires, causing fun smoke and smells. cool.

cut out the bad part of the harness, patched it with a spare harness, re-fused it, and removed the unused wires that caused the whole problem to begin with.

car works great. no death-fires. no death-smoke. lights work. life is good.

helped doug put in HIDs/fogs tonight.

coupe is dug outta that ridiculous snow we just got. was too slick to even get enough traction to make snow drifting cool. the car barely moved. so i let her sit.

also fixed the front coils as one of the collars decided to walk the driver coil up an inch. made handling all SORTS of cool in bad weather let alone uneven roads.

fixed a bunch of random s*** that bugged me about the car. felt accomplished. cant do too much big s*** with all this cold/snow, and im doing what i can to keep momentum with this build.

fixing a lot of little things always feels better then doing one medium sized thing. glad the electrical fire wasnt too bad. makes me think of the time the fog lights on my old s13 caught on fire cuz they got power by being wrapped around a fuse

5th gear lives. i just instinctively went to shift to 5th on the highway, not even thinking that 5th didnt work, it went into gear and i drove for another couple hundred feet, then it hit me, IT ACTUALLY WENT INTO 5TH!!!!

great news, as i hate stabbing transmissions back in. let alone in the cold.

my car still drives weird like it did when the coil walked up an inch on the driver front.... soooo i gotta figure that out. ill talk to RT and see if they can throw it on the rack to assess the issue.

so my friend wants the benifist of coil overs but he doesn't want to lower the car. I told him, that i wasn't sure but if he gets ajustables he could keep it at the stock hight. am i correct in saying that?

Yeah, he's the one that bought Keegan's first coupe. Lives right down the street from me.

BTW, Tom, here's the original picture of his signature.

So how do you transport an SR20 from the side of the house to behind the garage? You put it on an aluminum skid and pull it through the snow.

How is the steering response? Lets say you come out of a corner and let up on the steering wheel does it rotate back to center, or does the steering wheel stay where you left it?

I'm having a bit of an issue with my steering (due to minor off road excursion). I the driving feel is less inspiring. I just increased my caster from 7.0 to 8.0. I'm wondering if that's normal. I'm thinking it's not.

in a nutshell its hard to say at the moment. my car has a new rack in it, and the first gen PSM coils tophats arent the biggest fan of rotation (ordering qa1 washer bearings) and my alignments off due to a bad wheel bearing *hubs are at the shop right now getting OEM NSK bearings pressed in*.

ill hit you up once new bearings are in, qa1 pivots are in, and rt has a chance to do a final realign for spring.

Thanks.

For nothing.

I think I have a slight binding somewhere. I'm thinking I'll start with the front sway bars. Move to front ball joints. Then check out the coilovers shock bolt up top. I may of torqued it too tightly.

You're welcome.

For not offroading my car so as to have the same issues as you.

How hardcore did you go dukes-of-hazzarding?

More caster should equal more self centering, as the tires will want to return to flat contact. so i dunno wtf your car's doing

At least I'm jumping the General Lee to break it. You're breaking your s***, with just hard parking.

It's not bad at all, I can't actually find anything messed up.

Yes others have told me about the self centering as well. I gotta take it a part a little to get a better understanding of what may be causing it.

Steering response is still stellar, but not as perfect as it used to be. I just need to take my time and figure out if it's a binding issue or my alignment setup.

I'm semi confident it's a binding sway bar or binding front lower control arm. Sadly my garage is occupied by an M3, so it'll have to wait until the weather improves.
