It's fine if you don't like your transmission, but that has absolute no relevance in making the car faster. Gears > shift time.

The shifts themselves never seemed slow. To me, it was the car waiting forever to finally make the decision to change gears.

But no matter how bad you think the Q's 4AT slushbox is, its much worse in the 5-speed Lexus LS400. I owned one, and I dumped it after only a few thousand miles because the Aisin gearbox is unresponsive crap.

I want a luxury car with Cadillac's hydramatic, the Q's V8, Mazda's steering, Audi's styling, and BMW's suspension. Unfortunately I cant afford to buy five cars, take them apart, and piece them all together.

I recommend you take a look at the new KIA's or HYUNDAIs.

But Jesda is right, its like the transmission can shift faster but it chooses not to. And the 5-speed AT in the Lexus sucks.

It would be nice to have air suspension.

You're just hopeless. You must have an incredibly low IQ, be partially blind and mostly stupid. Read all of my posts on this board and tell me where I made that my main gripe. My complaint was never that the car is slow, I never said the transmission made it slow. In fact, I specifically stated a firmer shift wouldn't make a difference in terms of quarter mile time, which isn;t what I care about. You fabricated this entire argument to look for a confrontation. Either that or you are so dense a neutron star is light in comparison. I am done with this.

Wow that is the nicest and most civilized argument I have seen on this board.

Damn! Neutrons!

I loved the "denser than lead" comment....

Yes retard, read the topic of the post. I gave you credit where it was due, I simply stated you were wrong about something.

I think Jesda hit the nail on the head here.

I see a few people in this thread who really don't have the intellect or the motivation to learn a damn thing, much less own an advanced technological marvel like the G50.

Seriously, anyone whining about their Q's performance probably hasn't maintained it very well.

My Q would spin the tires hard through an intersection, slam 2nd gear under hard acceleration, with minimal shift lag, and was a strong performer, easily outgunning my P71 Crown Vic (police package) both from a dead stop and a roll... even with 18" wheels and oversize (255/40/18) tires.

Any more bickering in here (from people who haven't read the FSM and maintained their car properly) will result in vacations.

Carry on.

Always nice to remember that half the people who drive on the road and shop at Malls have an IQ below 100........[give or take a few points say 95-105].I would assume the same applies here with posters.

Mensa and Epimetheus Members are welcome to post a logo, even Densa [the low IQ Society] Members are welcome to say so proudly.

Dead hookers absolutely love cup holders IMO.

I used to own a '95 Impala SS and it felt more powerful, but also felt more crude. My '66 Chevelle was the same way. I'm definitely partial to rear wheel drive v8's. It's fun to break the tires loose once in a while.

I also just got a rent-a-car two days ago, a Pontiac Grand Prix GT from Avis and I know it would smoke any Q. And it's a front wheel drive 3.8L v6.

But I dont give sh*t. I paid $3k for my Q and have put about $1k more into it and it is way more sexy than any front drive v6. People always ask "what kind of car is this?" and "Wow! It's a really nice car, smooth ride". The best part is when then find out the car is almost 15 years old.

The Q is fast enough for me. I've had faster cars, but they costed a lot more and were definitely not as refined. The value someone gets in buying a decent-shape Q is obscene.

And that's what most people don't realize. They just think "Hey, this drives pretty good for a $3K beater!" without realizing how good it would be if it were resotred.

BTW, I think the economic meltdown is raising the average Wal-Mart IQ to room temperature as more affluent buyers emigrate their for their staples.
