thats exactly what i said. it was great back in the days, but only average to slightly above at this time.

240sx are some of the worst cars ever built(no offense), they are only used by people who are drifters wannabe. i think in my 8 years of racing, i honestly can only think of one guy who is actually comppetetive. the fast guy i know doesnt even have a swap on his car. along with the is300, i say the 240s are definitely in the overrated crowd.

i belive the point that most of us are making (cause i know its the one that i am) is that for its have a** that is has and how old she is, its a pretty dang quick car, its not fast, but shes dang quick, ive been in alot of fast cars and i deal with alot of people that build fast cars and they are all suprised when they get into mine caue they just dont expect it out of a heavy car, she can still hold her own on the street when it comes to stock to stock, heck 240sx's are so great right? well they look good in my rearview (and i can back this up, i own a 240)

I have the JHG50 (Nissan President) sales brochures from 1989 to 1994 and none of them show any type of AWD system as standard or optional.

I just double-checked my thread that I originally posted the 1994 brochure in and all the pictures are coming up just fine for me.

IS300 0-60 7.3 and 1/4 [email protected] Q45 from 90 car and driver 0-60 7.3 and 1/4 15.5, R/T did 6.9 and 15.4.

Is it me or are you saying your car is slow? Getting a .1 or .2 sec isn't exactly blowing people away.....

That says a lot though in how crappy Lexus is.

Its been how long and the Q45 is still faster than there cars.

I don't understand though, if you Q45 is the slowest car or sedan in your driveway why keep it?

And is the maintenance and everything all caught up on?

Dont forget, the Lexus is a 6 cylinder.....and the newer Lexus IS350{also 6 cylinder} is very, very fast, as in 0-60 in the low 5 second range.

There-theirbrake-breakyour-you`reto-two-too

Does anyone even know the difference anymore?????

So what All we need to do to keep up with them is add a turbo or a super charger. Just look at *sijo's Q45 his does 0-60 in 5 seconds and 0-100 in 10 seconds.

*sorry if I misspelled your name.

But can the turbo/supercharged/modified Q45 engine produce those great times long term???? Will the modified motor last anywhere near the stock engines 350,000-400,000 mile life????r will it destroy itself in 10,000 miles?? No one really knows.

True but that depends also on the condition of the motor, Previous owner, service history,OCI.

There are a lot of variables but I think that the VH45DE is a great motor, And once restored makes a great car but restoring it takes a great person or a person with a lot of money to restore it and keep it in great shape.

I don't get it, why is there so much animosity towards Mustangs on this site? As an owner of a '00 q45 and two Fox body Mustangs I don't see how the two cars are being compared, they are as far across the spectrum as you can get. On one end you have a luxury sedan with decent power and a nice quiet ride, and the other a rather cheaply built pony car that's alot lighter with similar power (stock). I'm not knocking either car, but a 5 liter Mustang with the smallest of mods (a decent driver being one of them) will outrun a q45 hands down. My '89 lx will run mid 12's at the strip all day long, and my '86 should run high nines (at least that's what I'm shooting for) and still be street legal. My q's road manners are excellent, it's a very comfortable car to drive, it's an awesome car in it's own right. Both cars do what they are designed to do very well, but fail when asked to do the others job. When I want to go fast I drive my Mustang, when I want to cruise in comfort I take the Q.

but its just soo cool to be able to beat mustangs, no offence but they are very much over rated just like the 240sx and the is300, but guess what, the reason they are over rated is because they are a dime a dozen and they are very very cheap to fix, hence me transfering over to my 240sx soon. dont get me wrong 240sx;s and mustang notch backs are a great car but more importantly, they are great to beat on

Going by your theory, i will have to keep buying cars since i cant have a slow car. if i have a 400hp ferrari, it might still be slower than a 500hp lambo. would i have to get rid of that?

maintainence or not, the q is a respectable car, but not a rocketship. 7 sec 0 to 60 and 15.3 quarrter mile time is no rocketship, especially in todays standard. i bought my car to run errands, not to race people. it is a respectable car, but to think it is a fast car? get a grip. my fiance s8 will do everything better if you are racing them.. bottom line is g50 is a good car, not a rocketship. it is cheap and can be used for commuting while having decent power to get out of its own way.

I think the question is "Why do Mustang drivers target Q's?". At least that's what it seems like to me. I'm driving along, minding my business, and all of a sudden, I'm being accosted by some guy in a Mustang. So I beat the pants off of him in my 16 year old 2 ton luxury sedan.

Kill yourself.

No way in hell does the G50 look "Grandma-like".

Long hood, short rear deck, slight rear flare. That thing is sex on wheels pal.

To me the Q45 is the foreign version of the Chevy Impala. But still a little bit better than the Impala.

If it does look "grandma-like", would that make her "ze gee-milf" ?

I wouldn't think so. The block and rotating assembly are plenty strong to take some serious boost. My only worry would be the compression/heads since the compression is too high to run huge boost and there aren't the head-bolts around each cylinder that an engine built to supercharge would have. Be that as it may, with some dish pistons or a taller deck the engine could still take a considerable shot of boost, enough to hold pace with some serious muscle if wanted...

lol yes, it was on a 40MPH roll actually.. i think it just sounded fast.. but wasn't i have seen a few of those lx's cause some problems though,

And the is300 is350 and is250 are fast... all but one is a v6 and can take on some "big ballers" the g35 might have a run for it's money against a is350.. but i dunno im not into lexus all that much.I wasn't meaning the car is ugly... im with you guys i love my q.. as a matter a fact i was driving in katy texas last night and a v6 mustang with (what sounded like) pipes cut all the way from the headers, decided he was NOT going to let me pass him... he drove alll over the road trying to stop me, i put 'er in 3rd gear, passed him them slammed on my breaks.. wen't on for like 20 min.. he wasn't able to keep up to my top end though, so i just drove away .. i don't know why mustangs seem to target them.. their like nasty women.. always wan't what they can't have :p

I own 2 240 (97 and 93 hatch with silvia front) and I'm not a wannabe drifter, although for every 1 of me there are about 1000 wannabe drifters that destroy good clean cars.

How can you say the 240sx one of the worst cars ever built? You do know that the 240(s13), q45, and z32 all share nearly identicly suspention setups(z32&q45 have a better front setup imho but the 240's handling abilitys are nothing to skoff at). Also, having spent much time working on all three, (own a 94 q also) I can honstly say that for the most part the basic design of each car also closely resemble one another.

The reason you hardly see 240s in competive racing is because the ka sucks fat hairy monkey balls(my personal opinion) and most racing leagues don't allow motor swaps or swaps put the 240 in to high of a class to be competive.

As for the is300, meh, its a tipical boring toyota with some luxury crap thrown in, but can be made into a fun car(if you have $$$$$$$).
