yep... i cut the wood to fit right in the spot where the vents were... then used the bondo to give it better hold and make it smooth

well im gettin it done!!thanks for the help Pezi!!the only thing i can think of is keeping the bondo off the vinyl as much as possible because the vinyl is soft and would allow the bondo to crack...

it does crack a little.... but if you do it right and make your lines clean it'll turn out fine

Love the look, shame you covered the old paint, yet the black looks pretty slick as well. you spray that on with a gun? looks too good to be a rattle can job. I'd love to stick a set of wheels/tires like those on my 78 datsun pickup.

Looks like you put a pair of headlights back on, having to use this as a daily driver as well? or just tryin to stay street legal to and fro events?

the paint was done with a gun... in a booth... the whole setup lol

the headlights are back in so that i can make it to and from events mainly... sometimes its nice to be able to drive it when there's no light out

With those new tires, what kind of turn radius you got?

I lost a little when I changed the rims on mine. I remover the lock stops trying to get it all back but the tire rubs on the lower arm at full lock.

yeah... mine have a different issue completely... they are so wide that the outside of the tire when turning comes in and tries to rub against the inner fender well (firewall side)

The firewall's not a place to pound out. It might affect the pedals.

Pezi, I'm new to Nico and realize this thread is ancient but I stumbled across it and really like the look of rims and bfg tires on the silver 720. Can you tell me what size tires you were using and did they rub on hard turns? Do you rember the rim offset that you had?
I own an 85 ST 2wd that I purchased new in '85, believe it or not and am in the process of doing some mods and semi restoring it.
thanks!

Rims were 15x7 Outlaw II from American racing... -6 offset. The BFGs were 225/60/15 Radial T/A's and 225/45/15 G-Force Sports (I had two sets of BFGs throughout my time with it... great company. It isn't the hard turns where bad things happened, it was the really tight radius ones. When taking turns, the inside tire will come back and rub against the firewall in the wheel well with the T/A's... nothing was ever an issue with the G-Forces

It was also lowered. I don't remember it having issues at stock height.
