but remember these stock z24's arent made to be turboed, and would pretty much fling apart if done so..........

I beg to differ. The club I was in turboed several types of engines with exceptional results. Because of the quality of fuel in those days we had to limit the boost to prevent detonation. The key to turboing a n/a engine if fuel regulation. Fuel pressure must be set to prevent the float chamber from drying out, so the increase in fuel pressure to the carb will prevent the forced charge of air from blowing out the fuel from the chamber. We have done - Ford Cortina 2.0, 2.3 Capri V6 2.8 - Nissan L18, L28, A15, CA16 - Mitsubishi sirus 80 (thats a 1.8) and a Chevy 350 which we installed in a 75 Escort. In most we did not drop the compression and ran a maximum of 7 lbs boost. In the Cortina 2.0 and the L28 the compression was dropped to 8:1 and the boost increased to 15lbs.

ok so i suppose you could run a turbo, but would it really be worth it? i mean after you spend the time and money? cuz ive heard its not too safe to do it to one of these motors, so i would guess no more that a few lbs to be safe.... so i think it would prolably jus be easier to switch to a ka/t.....

wow great read, liked the carb'd turbo info.

I should be tearing into the KA24e and Z24 heads soon after I get my tools back home from my friends tomorrow.

Then I will flood you with pictures of blocks, heads, and measuring devices.

At the latest I will have them cracked and compared by the end of second weekend in November. If I wasn't going to be in two weddings in that time period I would do it sooner. Let me know what you want pictures of and which comparisons you want first. The KA should be easy being its just the long block.

The additives in the gas react with the type of material used to make the impeller. You will normally see streaking first (a groove cut in the face of the impeller as it forces the gas out of the housing. Then pits appear. Sometimes you get a white build up that looks like aluminum thats been heated and left with out using for a long time.

i think i broke the backrests off... i didn't care since i wouldn't be using any of the stuff again

i think i broke the backrest off... then removed the interior plastic... then removed the bolts that held the backrest on

the backrest is attached by bolts... but from what i remember you can't get to them to save your life

there is 2 bolts on the bottom, then you have to slide it up, the top is just clipped in! use the force!

you can wire the fan to do what you want... you can have it turn on when the thermostat gets to a certain temp... by switch in the cab... whatever really

the old one comes off by unbolting it... if you take a look at it you'll prolly see the bolts pretty easy

anyway... after changing classes... i no longer need to retain ANY of the stock pieces besides the subframe... so i'll be making a full custom suspension for it with some help from harbor freight

the engine build will be 13:1 compression, lots of headwork, valves etc... ITB's and some sweet FI

well as of right now.... i got no chance in hell... he's already got his full custom suspension as well as full engine build done

he makes 150 more hp and weighs 1700 lbs... and he's on 275 width hoosier A6's

the times depend on the track cause its always different.... but until i get my build on the suspension done as well as sticky tires like his... nowhere near the same times... the last event he was 6 seconds quicker... which is a lot considering i ran 44 seconds to his 38
