the point is that there are bikes that have 100+ hp that weigh the same.

its all relative
The point is your a f*** retard.

You made the point that the car having less then 100hp is not a big deal because you ride a bike with less then 20.

But the bike weighs nothing.
Lets say the bike is 350 lbs.

That means each pound has .0514 hp pushing it.

Say the Aveo is 2500lbs.
to get .0514hp pushing each lb it would need 128 hp

So basically you are trying to show that you manage with a slow low hp vehicle, so this must be fine... but this thing has only like 60% of what your bike does.

My bike is 160 lbs and has 8hp, puts me about even. I need a third and fourth to race, 2G buy in. I'll be over here playing my playstation I have duct taped to the fuel tank.

As for fuel economy, the website says it gets better highway MPG than Fit, Versa & Scion. Looks to be less expensive (except the xD) with a better warranty, too. Good news for people wanting a new budget car IMHO.
The previous gen was built by Daihatsu I think, but this gen is built by Chevy/GM (again, I think... my positivity escapes me). The outgoing model is a piece. I got one as a rental, and wrote a review on it here:
2010-chevy-aveo-review-t485698.html?hilit=Aveo

The new model will be getting the 6 speed transmission that utilizes solenoids built in my plant here in Mississippi. They are currently using another manufacturer though... not sure where they are based out of, but they suck, and that's why GM came to us :)

I was going to say that the transmission gear could make up for the difference, but then I looked at the 17.3 1/4 mile time of the 2010 Aveo...

WHat I'm saying is that all these vehicles can cruise over 100mph.

You guys see a low HP number and start complaining about it.

Should there be a larger efficiency difference? Hell yeah. I'm not quite sure what is causing the MPG to be so relatively low on vehicles like this.

Compare this to something like the Honda Insight that is capable of getting over 70mpg and it just makes you wonder...

From what speed?

I have yet to be in a vehicle that didn't have sufficient passing power under 70mph...

lol razzo. "sufficient" passing power and definite passing power can at times be two different things. i've been in cars that when passing at such speeds is so slow and sluggish that *insert chick name* has enough time to do all twenty nails and have them dry before the passing is done

"Going just fine" isn't the same as feeling inspired to move.

I think we are looking at the subjective nature of a vehicle.

To me a vehicle on the road is pretty much used to get from point A to B with minimal cost.

You guys seem to need to enjoy the ride, regardless of if you're actually going somewhere useful.

I would much prefer to take a vehicle to a track, if afforded the opportunity, to have fun then do so on public roads with other people around.

Yeah I'd rather have a fun car than a car like the PT Cruiser.
Having a fun car doesn't mean you've got to speed to enjoy it.

s***, I rarely even go into boost, I drive like a grandma. I still enjoy it way more than when it was N/A.

You weren't around when I had the Q45. I didn't want to spend $300 on the under plenum hose kit so I used the local hose supplier and did the job for ~$50 :chuckle:

That vehicle was a hand me down. Can't complain.

The next car was a 92 Buick Century Wagon with a 3.3. Cost me $100. Won't complain.

Now I'm on the Ninja 250 which cost $1400. THat's the sweet spot!

I you want enough power for fun city driving, and economy, then get a Cube. The damn things handle better than a 240 and are quick for 99% of driving on public roads.

Never seen a short on-ramp in your life, have you, PMQ? Try driving the roads in and around NYC. You get 50 feet to get up to speed.

Yep, 0-60 in under 8 seconds should do just fine...

I've been in Atlanta and Chicago. Yes, i've seen short onramps. I have also seen proper merging lanes...

I don't know what your parkways are like down there/out there, but up here we have stop signs at the ends of some of our on-ramps. The ability to move is imperative. Often you don't get a "proper merging lane," however that's defined.

Seriously man...

Why do you post on a car enthusiast forum if you don't care about fun cars and just want basic a->b transportation?
You don't go to the track, and say you don't care about a fun car on the street... Why are you here?

Of course you don't need anything more then something like the Aveo... But we like cars. You don't need more then a $10 pair of speakers so why buy any more then that?

This is "Nissan/Infiniti Car Owner Club".

The large majority of members here have only posted a few times, and that was to get help on fixing their vehicle(s).

So I would actually ask "why are you here" as you are among a handful of people that care about the performance of the vehicle while you're driving. The majority of the members here are not here for that purpose. They have come here looking for help on fixing a problem, not enhancing performance.

This site mainly revolves around the sharing of information about Nissans/Infinitis, and to a smaller part, all vehicles. It does not revolve around performance modifications. That is but a very small part of the postings on this site.

If you want to say that this is an enthusiast site, you need to look up the definition. Hell, I'll do it for you:

Enthusiast:

"1. A person who is highly interested in a particular activity or subject."

Activity or Subject. The subject here is vehicles. The activity is anything to do with vehicles.

I have little interest in "enhancing performance," too. I'm still an enthusiast who recognizes that there's a lot more to driving than getting from A to B
