Hahahahah.

The rear suspension is reassembled, bushings in, and all 4 wheels are on the ground.

I have pictures, but spent the weekend out of town. I will try to get them uploaded, and posted at some point tonight.

Brake lines, body work, paint, wiring, engine, reassembly, and shakedown.

Its not a short list. Its time to put up or shut up.

Sweet, post up some pictures.

I guess I better bring everyone up to speed.

I hate bushings, hate hate hate.

I didnt get any pictures of installing them because my hands were covered in lube.

Getting the subframe back together.

Got the diff, and subframe bushing inserts in.

Almost, almost, almost......

There we are.

Im loving the ground clearance. Im pretty sure the diff could clear a basket ball.

Today I decided to push her out into the driveway next to my coupe. I really needed to clean underneath the car, along with everywhere else, so I posed it next to its stock height sister.

I also picked up a new non ABS master cylinder today, installed it, and got the clutchline back in. I started running brake lines, but realized I dont have the right line nuts. I will have to pick some up, and get to bending and flaring.

Goood lord man that puts the height into perspective.

I feel your pain on the bushings. Did you do the burn N' cut method to get em out? I'm having them done on a press. I was SICK of it after doing three. Such a PITA.

I have a special tool for it. Its called a ball joint press. Its basically a big extra beefy C clamp driven with a 21 mm socket. Using an impact, It rams them out no sweat. Its just getting the new ones in that sucks.

Lot's of hard work going on here.

I tell you what. As soon as you hit a jump at like 80mph it'll be worth it. Let's see pics of you catching air this season!

This thing is super strong. Thanks again. I have some front tension rods and brakes from my s14 if it will help you at all. I might have some other parts laying around so if you look thru my thread and see something that might help you let me know, I would love to contribute to the OFFICIAL NICOCLUB RALLY CAR.lol

Speaking of which Ian, I have a spare adapter to convert the oil pressure sender location to 1/8 NPT and some other random 1/8npt goodies if you should need them.

It seems like updates have slowed down quite a bit recently. I hope you are getting enough help to get things done.

Actually its my lack of free time that is killing progression as of late.

I was able to get both master cylinders installed, the clutch line run, and all the brake lines, and steel braided hoses installed. Its got fluid in it, and has a pedal. Just needs one last bleed for good measure.

Ian, if you're working on the car during the week at all, let me know. I've never bled lines before and would love to learn. Also, I need to use the poundometer and won't have time over the weekend.

I've seen it and I have never really liked the black/white/neon paint schemes he has on his cars but it doesn't look too bad.

Ok, sort of an update.

Master cylinder in, and brake lines run. They aren't perfect, but they will work fine. I just need to find a way to anchor them to the firewall.

Uh oh, whats that? Am I putting the first fluid into the car? Thats right, I got fluid in it, and bled forever. Brake pedal is good and solid.

And that is all the further I have gotten because.....

I bought a new car. Or more specifically, a truck. Check it out.

zerothread?id=488501

So between fixing some little stuff on it, and the awesome barbecue we had this weekend, I have not gotten anything done. But now that I have a new daily, can start ripping apart my coupe for parts.

Progress has been slow lately. Ive been trying to make sure my truck is reliable.

I do have a small update. I pulled the motor out of the coupe, stripped all the emissions stuff off of it, and got it mounted on the stand. I will tear it down, and replace all the gaskets, and check the bearings. Then it will go back together with a thorough cleaning. Then it will go in the car.

I do need to order a clutch, and find a piggyback.

Back to business.

Boy is that a mess of wiring and vacuum hoses.

Image

Stupid ECU wiring harness. I ended up pulling the dash to get it out.

Image

One of my favorite style Nico stickers. Im sad to see it go.

Image

Hey look at that the engine and transmission are out.

Image

Image

Dont need that, or that, or that.....

Image

Or that, or that.....

Image

Or any of that.

Image

Oops, might want to save that.

Image

Not too shaby.

Image

Pretty clean for something with so many miles.

Image

I'll need a new one of those.

Image

And thats all for tonight. Hopefully I can get the block cleaned up, and the head/timing covers off tomorrow. Then I can start reassembly.

I also finally got the roll cage inspected. Bad news is, it failed. Apparantly, the cage builder forgot to add some neccesary gusseting to the windshield hoop. Hopefully I can have that fixed by this weekend. Naturally the builder is doing it free of charge.

Got the motor up on the stand, and got it cleaned off a little.

Image

Image

Image

Then I pulled the timing cover only to discover that one of the chain guides was broken, and the chain is very loose.

Image

Then I pulled the head off to replace the gasket.

Image

Then my camera battery died. I got the block and head cleaned off. I installed a new gasket, and bolted the head back down with new head bolts. I installed a new chain and guides, then reinstalled the timing cover with all new gaskets.

Tomorrow I plan to get a water pump, and thermostat, then I can get them on, as well as the oil pan. Then I will strip the secondary butterflies out of the intake, and clean and reinstall it.

It's nice to see the build moving again.

I usually see people pulling single cam KA's to trash them...

I didn't know the KA had a variable intake system. is it the Nissan version of tvis?

Glad to see more progress Ian.
I wish I would've removed my secondary butterflies when I had my manifold out. :(
