Well, i figured I'd introduce myself here. My name is Rob, Im 15, and got my first nissan not too long ago. Its an 89' 240sx fastback, with 234k on the shell, and the single ka rebuilt (not sure how many mile but runs strong) It needs the pasenger strut tower welded (long story) and some body work, interior work, and paint. I'll most likely be asking for lots of help, as I already creep the forums looking for tips and advice. I plan of acomplishing alot on this car this summer, even though i have no job yet, or a garage. Hell, i even have to work on the car in grass, no driveway! Once i get the car welded up and driving, i will be doing alot more to it, and maybe eventualy swapping it with an sr ( but thats a while down the road). I might be making a build forum but who knows! I guess I'll update this with pictures as i go.
EDIT: I got the car for $950 Not too bad of a deal imo

I pulled off that s*** cracked foam? spoiler, and pulled out that broken wiper unit, i'm hopefully bondo-ing all that up today

Image

Image
debating whether or not the car would look good sleepy eyed, especialy since I might end up rattle canning the car to look like a track slut until the projects done. ideas?

Image
I still need that left blinker

Image
thats what I need welded :bs:

Image
I need to clean up the bay, and those chains were put on by the last dumbass to keep it from cracking off completely, which it did, wich is why the car is on jack stands now, more pics maybe tommorow?

Do you have a welder? Are you going to do it yourself? If so good luck! Make sure to line it up perfectly so the suspension geometry doesn't get all messed up...

So, whats the long story on how that happened lol?

Welcome!

This car was for sale at E town, saw it in person. Good luck fixing that stuff, I'm pretty sure you can still get some OEM metal for the strut towers from Courtesy Nissan, would probably be worth looking into

I don't have a welder, but I have a few buddies that went to votec for it, so i should be able to get it fixed pretty cheaply. The guy i bought it from buys and sellls junk cars and him and I asume that someone hit a pothole, going extremely fast inorder to crack it that bad, and they chained the tower to the frame to keep it from cracking, but they did a s*** job and it cracked a few days after we flatbeded it to my house.

Yeah thats where i found her too. I've been looking for somewhere realialble online to find a new tower, rather then cut one out of another 240, but i havent had too much luck. Thanks though.

This is for the whole passenger side, part #64100, I don't see the strut tower listed separately, but I would choose this over cutting one out.

No problem broski. You can try to call them and see if they have a part number for just the strut tower, that way you don't need to buy everything

Yeah, I need to atleast have some cash for when i call though, that way if they have just the tower I can order over the phone right then, and get this show on the road.

damn a 15 year old with so much knowledge about the 240. i dont know whether this is a good thing or a bad thing, either way, welcome to the forums.

on another note, your third picture, the one of your engine bay. i wanted to know what that little container in the top right corner is. the one with the yellow cap, not to be confused with the brake fluid container box thing.

:spitout: that's a good one...

op, welcome and good luck with teh car. personally, i'd look for someone with a lot more body welding experience to fix that strut tower instead of a couple of buddies who just did some welding in school. that tower needs to be on there perfectly, otherwise your suspension will be out of whack.

Wow, thank you! , not for the compliment but i just went out to check out what that was, and i folowed the cable, and it comes down and is broken right next to the frame. i have no idea what it is, so i took some pictures.
Theyre hard to see, but i'll try to explain it.

it goes in a cable from the yellow cap, accross the top of the firewall, and goes down with the rest of the cables and that little sqaure-ish thing is mounted to the frame, and the cable comes down and looks like its suppoed to go into that. Any ideas???

Me, personally, think you shouldn't sleepy eye it, and you shouldn't rattle can it

Not only do sleepy eyes suck at night, it's been too played out. Everyone and there mom had to get sleepy eyes for their drift 240

And the paint doesn't look to be in super bad condition, I would rather have it look like that then flat black

I hope this doesn't turn into a 5 page thread about how sleepy eyes don't effect your visibility... :lolling:

Well the whole paint thing is, im going to have bondo all over the hatch, and hood in a few days, and up close the clear coat is peeling in the roof and pillers and hatch, and it'l only be rattle canned for a year or two until i get the car done and get it painted
