Sooo...talking to a few other NICO members recently and a while back about beer...
Like PEZI recommending the awesone Great Divide Hibernation Ale, which I drove 20min from my house and found worth the drive (if you can find it, go for it!). Lol

Here is my attempt to start a NICO beer thread. I personally like dark beer, I might just be barely new to this... but I know what I like and what I don't...
More personally... being Mexican, I have come to know Mexican beer very well, and I dont like it. In fact the only beer I really like from Mexico is Negra Modelo

Pictured here..

or Dos Equis Amber

Image

... on a regular basis, I like getting Newcastle Brown Ale or Guinness.

So all i'm asking from NICO is...
What's your beer of choice... wether it's locally or nationwide available. Post pictures of your favorite beer or recent beer you have tried... wether you liked it or not.

Recently, as of a couple days ago I tried this..

Image

http://www.hangar24brewery.com/

It was ok, not really my favorite kind of taste... had a similar taste as "Shock Top", but I did like it.
I just wouldn't go out of my way to find it. Lol

Well, hope to read your thoughts and suggestions!.

oh yea...don't drink and drive... and stuff!

They just released it last month. I love me some Shock Top, and this is no exception. It does have a lot more of a "fruity" taste to it, but I like it.

Other than that, I like normal Shock Top, Blue Moon, and Guinness. One of my faves, however:

LOVE that beer. I've been trying out new beers as I go through the commissary on base (I'm on a Navy base, so you already know there's a great selection). I'll post my findings as I drunkenly stumble through them. :P

Oh boy, this might take a while. Let me pull up my fav's.

This is my new favorite. I loved it!

One of my old fav's. A little too hoppy for some occasions:

Just had this last week and liked it pretty well:

Had this on tap at a local bar last week. Thoroughly enjoyed it:

I'm going to a big "beer tasting" this evening in Jacksonville, FL. I'll be sure to check in back here with my favorites.

^ You have much to learn, young padawan. ^

Blue Moon is a good "beginner's" beer. Heinekin is one of the best widely available pilsners around. I like stouts and dark ales and whatnot, so my tastes are somewhat different than yours. However, I can still make some recommendations.

Brooklyn Brewery has some great beers. I like their Pennant Ale, which is a very smooth, light beer. Goes great with crab cakes! Also try some Turbo Dog and Abita. Abita has many good beers as well. Maybe give Stella Artois a try. It's a bit girly, but it's good sometimes :)

Stella is NOT girly. Stella will straight set you on your a** if you're not careful.

We have had this conversation before, Repo. Many moons ago.

I guess we'll confine girly beers to things my parents and my sister drink: Smirnoff Ice, Zima (do they still make that s***?), and Hornsby's Cider. Happy? :squint:

BBQ/Summer Brew: Sierra Nevada or just about any pale ale. I LOVE me some pale ale, especially in the AM. Anyone that was at Carlisle knows I like my breakfast beer.
Winter Brew: Yuengling, Mothers Milk, anything a little heavier
Binge Brew: Coors Light/Miller Lite/Bud Light or any other alcohol infused water
Blackout Brew: Chimay...Chimay is AMAZING. It gets you toasted so quickly though. Doesnt matter which one, something about the extra carbonation I guess gets you lit.

LOL, we did, didn't we? Not much changes, does it?

One week ago right now, we were touring the Yuengling brewery in Pottsville, PA. What a great time and awesome beer. I highly recommend it!

Tis not Rogue. Rogue has Dead Guy Ale which is similar though a little less... ambitious. I like Dead Guy Ale as well, though. It is yummy.

As serg said, I'm a huge supporter of Great Divide Brewing. They're local to me in CO, and have several awesome choices. All are delicious, and all are VERY potent.

This is my favorite... their Grand Cru. Its a Belgium Style Dark Ale, at 12% alcohol. just as good in the bottle if you can find it as it is in the Great Divide Tap Room.

If any of you are in Portland and want a good place to go a drink...try the Kennedy School in the Boiler Room.
Favorite beer from them is their Terminator Stout. They even make a Milkshake with it which is...interesting.

I used to drink Killians until I had real reds, now it tastes horrible to me.

I love the local bier in Norfolk from OConner's Brewery. ATM they only keg and pour growlers for friends. But as soon as they bottle I might have to ship some out.

Also Trader Joe's has pretty great selection of microbrews.

Great Divide makes awesome stuff. I've had their 'Samurai' lager and really liked it (good summer brew for BBQ fare) and their Claymore Scottish ale...really good.

As soon as the weather changes for the warmer I like lagers but last night I tried this stout from Yard's (local to Philly) for the first time and it was really smooth:

Well, the beer tasting was last night in Jax and I don't remember much. I drank about 30-40 different beers and after a while, they all just sort of blend together. The standouts that I do remember was a Sierra Nevada 30th Anniversary Special beer. It was tasty. The aforementioned Yards Love Stout was there and I enjoyed that one too. I have a couple brochures and stuff that I left at the house this morning, but when I remember more, I shall post.

Boddington's Pub Ale.

Woodchuck.<----- great with Smithwick's when you make a snake bite.

And about TraderJoe's... at least around me there are quite a few different biers to choose from some are like 60cents a can plus tax. One was brewed in my hometown in Germany but the can was a Dutch company. it was like 16oz and 1.07 plus tax.
