So I ought to ask you--what the hell happened to 'K' Cider? Have you ever tried it? It's from the U.K.
It's no longer available in the states from what I can tell from their site and stores that used to have it. It was my favorite as most hard ciders are excessively sweet; K was really dry which I loved.
Samuel Smith has an Organic cider that is close to K's dryness (I like their beer too!).
I think I've had the Woodpecker cider before and it's decent. Definitely better than a lot of the ciders out there. I had a Strongbow once and it tasted like water. Blech. Also have had Hornsby's, Ace and something called "Sin" cider. All too sweet or just watery/flavorless. Oh well.

I like Belgian "Wit Beers" and tried this one today. Not bad (not my photo):

I'm being told by my beer snob buddy that I need to try Ommegang's Wit beer

I'm not a great fan of beer. When I do drink it I have three that I actually enjoy.

Bass and Guiness

Looks like it could be promising! Also, World Market apparently lets you "Build your own 6-pack" of beer! You select beers in the store, put them in a crate, and it rings up one flat-rate price! I'm so going to Fresno this weekend.

^ Uhh...

So in continuation of the post on the previous page I made on Flying Dog's Seasonal Wit Beer...my friend stopped by to help me with some computer crap and brought this over:
Image
Ommegang Witte (Belgian
Verdict: Well for the price it better taste better than Flying Dog's Wit Beer. The flavors are fairly the same; it's a lot more carbonated; less hoppy (I really hate overly hoppy beers); it has more of crispness to it--if that makes any sense.
So if you like the Coors version of a Belgian White(i.e. Blue Moon) try this one instead (or at least Victory's/Flying Dog/Allagash version). I need to try Unibroue's version next.

I saw we make Carlisle a mini tasting next year. Everyone bring 4 different six packs of their favorites, trade up, and throw 'em back.

Marisha had a few growlers of some tasty stuff this year.

Update, tried something new this past Saturday at a local Mexican restaurant after working on the Miata:

Image

Good flavor, it's your basic lager, but definitely has a maltier taste than most central american beers (they just about all taste like water except Negra Modelo IMHO). Had it with a huge bowl of guacamole too. A good summer beer I think :)

Being that I am the only person who's posted in here with a beer label as their avatar, you can probably all guess that I've made other beer threads and can do a quick search to see what I like.

But, something new is a Dark/Black IPA (India Pale Ale)?
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co ... 04931.html
I tried some at a brewery in Eola, TX. http://www.eolaschool.com/ I forgot the name of it, but it was an interesting brew. I will look for the same style by other more formidable breweries. It looks like Rogue has a highly regarded black IPA. I highly doubt it'll be my favorite, but I'm sure it'll be good.

Looneybomber, if you haven't checked it out, you should try the McSorley's Irish Black Lager I posted on the first page. It's terrific. I had Yeti probably a month or two ago and I liked it a lot.

I get to go to an International Beer Tasting this weekend in New Orleans. I'll try to take some actual pictures and try to remember what I had and how it was.

Never even heard of that style of brew. Black Irish Lager? Beer Advocate classifies it as a Euro Dark Lager. I tend to not be a big fan of English syles and lean more towards Belgium and German...and Amurica! If I can get it here (back in KS now) I will certainly check it out. I am not one to dismiss beers too often.

You suck (typing as taps plays in the background. No seriously, it's 9pm and taps just played on base)

Not a fan of Sam Adams normally, but this one is absolutely delicious. I hate they only have it during the October time season though :(

Also, the bar on base here (Spud's) just opened up their own brewery about 2 months ago. Their in-house beers are absolutely awesome. They have a full time Brewmaster on staff, and his whole job is to manage brewing the goodness. They serve an IPA, a Lager, a Wheat, and a dark stout. All with interesting names as well. "Sidewinder", "Prop Wash", "Foggy Bottom", and "Anchor Grease". They serve you a plank with 4 4oz glasses for $2.50. Same price for a 16oz glass. My new favorite place to drink.

When I go buy beer, I like to get 2 6-packs. 1 6-pack will be a beer I'm familiar with and the other will be one I have never tried before. The beer I'm very familiar with is Shiner Bock. It's just about the darkest I can stand. It leaves a nice sweet after taste. It's hard for me to explain beer so you're just gonna have to try it some day.

Image

I even have a big blow-up Shiner bottle.
