Across from my local Infiniti dealership is the "Liquor Barn" which has a large selection. I also hit a couple other places while on vacation the other day in which I grabbed the Pyramid and numerous other wheat beers. The little IGA food place there had a section where you could mix and match singles so I got 6 different ones there.

Last week I tried a 6-pack of König Ludwig Weissbier which had a nice flavor without being bitter.

Image

I also drank a 6 of Derailed Black Cherry Ale. It was difficult to discern a pure cherry flavor from it and was somewhat awkward. It was way too over-carbonated. Not one I would try again.

Image

Finally, I tried a draft of RJ Rockers Son of a Peach Wheat Ale. Not a bad wheat beer but didn't really have much of a peachyness to it. Was worth a try but probably not a 6-pack

^ Konig Ludwig! I saw you drinking that on friday. Last time I had one was at the base of Neuschwanstein castle. Its pretty good stuff from what I remember. I haven't come across any here in the states despite the large selection of my local six pack store (20+ cooler doors)

Hi, ya'll.

We (O'Connor Brewing Co.) just made a Punkel Weiss. The Wort was amazing and now that its almost done fermenting its sessionable, not over spiced or too pumpkiny.

I can't wait til next week.

Also Really enjoy the Nogne line, they come in black bottles with slashed O on it.

I'd recommend the Imperial Stout and Two Captains.

For tonight I have started with a Erdinger Hefe-Weizen. It's a plain hefe and seems kind of thin. It's good but not one that would stand out. Tad bit over-carbonated but just barely.

So, trying the Sam Adams Octoberfest....Thickish and bitter. Not really my style.

Image

Probably my last beer of the night: Schneider Weiss Hopfen Weiss

Image

It's a 8.2%ABV beer so you can taste a bit more alcohol. Has a strange hop flavor. Too "German" for me it seems as It's not something I would try again. Still, I'll finish it :)
EDIT: I fresh squeezed a large orange and poured the contents into the bottle and it smoothed it out pretty well. Was much better, IMO.

I thought that this year's brew was better than the past few years. I actually prefer a more bitter/hoppish beer though, so that could be why.

You is brewmaster? This is very cool. I have a few friends that tried to get into it and had no luck.

EDIT: Just saw the TEH KOOP plate. I think we met at Carlisle in 2011, though didnt speak upon beer. This is surprising to me.

Yeah, not Head Brewer, and I brewed up til like 2 and a hafe weeks ago... I started running the retail/ tasting room side of the brewery. I can sell you shirts but there is no free schwag at this point. But come on down to Norfolk and sample the wares and grab a growler and a Pint glass.

As far as the Punkel Weiss the kegs are pretty much presold by now...so area restaurants and bars will have some but its pretty limited in volume as we probably only made 18ish barrels of it.

For anyone who is close enough to stop by Thurs 4-7 Fri 4-7 Sat 2-7

The current favorite is the Agave IPA, dryhopped with 55lbs/in 20barrels of agave sweetener kick starting a secondary fermentation and bringing the ABV to 7.5-8%. Awesome full hop flavor and light on the bitter palette.

Mail me some? Sounds right up my alley. I'll have to scour my area for it.

Tonight I'm trying a Goose Island Summertime. It's a pretty light ale with a touch of citrus. Kinda a light wheat bear. I find it pretty refreshing with a mild aftertaste.

Does anybody here have an Untappd account? Since this thread began, I have officially tried over 160 beers.... I really don't feel like posting them all on here...

Stupid me, I forgot two other beers I had last week.

O'Fallon Wheach which is a peach wheat beer. For a wheat beer it was pretty good but not monumental. Not much peach flavor with this one either. RJ Rockers had more. Still, was a good beer.

Image

Then there was People's Farmer's Daughter Wheat Beer. This beer claimed it was a wheat and lemon grass concoction. It was more a slightly wheat ale than a hoppy wheat, kinda between a basic wheat and a Miller lite. Not bad but only a 4.2 ABV.

Tonight's conquest.....

Southern Tier's Hop Sun Summer Wheat. Somewhat bitter with a lime bite. Not bad, would do again.

Image

and a Redbridge Gluten-Free Sorghum Beer No real smell from the bottle but it's like drinking light pancake syrup. After a few more "sips" it just seemed a bit confused as to what it wanted to be.

Image

I'm turning into an alcoholic!!!!

Next up, New Holland Golden Cap Season Ale....Relatively light with a weird-assed after taste. Some online talk about a fruity spicy aftertaste. At the moment it's like a belch taste after eating Sliders

312 is a nice beer. For a clear beer I actually did like the Summertime.

Tonight....Schlafly Pumpkin Ale....First taste came as a quick hit of pumpkin spice followed by a hoppy dry bitterness. Has lots of flavor but seems a bit overpowering to me.

Image

Widmer Brothers Hefeweizen....Gave this a try and was quite pleased. Right amount of citrus/hops and a slight thick silk feel. Not too bitter, not too sweet. This is one beer I'd have again with no problem.

Image

Ayinger Weizen-Bock...quite a good German beer. Nice cloudy color and head, not too bitter with a nice citrus after taste. Would do again.

the Goose Island Summer was aight, I probably wouldn't buy it again though.

We just released in kegs only, "Mild Child" a mild ale that is insanely overhopped with amarillo and CTZ. Its like hop juice.

I had a Stone Belgie IPA, it was okay, if I was in the mood I'd definitely drink it again. But it was an odd mashing of flavors.

Had a three philosphors ale, I really enjoyed that.

Hardywood Community Hopped IPA. Really cool beer using locally grown hops... a lighter IPA, but nice flavor.

Also had a pearl necklace oyster stout, solid stout but I didn't like the brine, but I don't eat much seafood either.

Lancaster Brewing CO. Strawberry wheat.
Image

A light wheat beer with strong strawberry aroma that doesn't overwhelm the taste of the beer. Looking into the brewery it isn't made in the land of the Amish however 3 hours north in Wilkes-Barre PA.

PunkelWiess is about gone, we still have a few 6th barrels kicking around. I might take one soon and try to kill it asap.

We released our winter Seasonal, O'Connor Holiday Pecan Porter. So Session-able and tasty.

Not sure what's next on the Limited/Seasonal as far as Doing a big batch.

We test batched quite a few things since I posted Last, in no peticular order

Rosemary IPA
Rauch Scottish Ale
Scottish with Juniper
Couple different stouts
West Coast IPA
A couple Porters(one we made and its awesome)
There are probably a few others. But Some of them we way too strong in one way or just didn't go off like we wanted.

On to other Beers...

I had another Three Philsophers(still great), but also had the the Belgian Chocolate one too from Ommegang, and I am pretty sure I enjoyed that one.

I recently had Sierra Nevada Estate, which is cool is concept and an interesting brew. Total wine just hella discounted here in VA, from 8.99 to 2.99. I'd pick it up again. especially next year.

Hardywood Gingerbread Stout. (So good Sam Adams got a hold of a bottle and immediately started testing their own version, or so I heard)*scough*

Blue Mountain in Nelson County has a Barrel aged Stout that was solid and If I didn't have to drive I would have killed many more pints.

Wife Picked up a winter pack from Sam Adams, and so far 2 bottles opened...two bottles that have a metallic flavor you have to overcome to even try to really taste the beer. I have had good SA draught but I have not had an amazing SA bottle, maybe I am too far away, but people seem to keep buying it so w/e.
