Ha. Yeah somehow i missed that. Please do, i'm interested in getting in contact. I have a fully counterbalanced, 11.1 compression, bottom end with a flow benched head and the jwt c78 cams and the vq35hr lifter buckets. and lots of other supporting mods. I'm thinking i am going to need the excessive intake manifold as the stock only flows around 240cfm max. My heads intake ports flow 296cfm max. I figure they should at least match. The guy at excessive told me that his are portable and he has gotten them up to the 320cfm area. As for itb's. Well, all the motorcycle itb's only flow 50hp a hole. So those wont be useable. For engines as large as ours we need something in the 52mm area.

I did finally receive my header, but I haven't had any time. Its still sitting in the box, since I had a new roommate move in and the last thing I needed was to start pulling out car parts.
There will still be a bit more work to do, as the builder did not have any flanges to actually mate to the cat (obviously, this company is more geared toward race and V8s). AMS should be able to fabricate what I need to connect everything properly. In the meantime, I'll be borrowing a DC Sports header to travel. That's assuming I can get it started again. I'll be updating this thread with pictures soon.

I'll admit, its a bit anti-climactic. Its so hard to envision this thing in anything other than PVC at this point, that seeing it in stainless just doesn't seem right. Notice how much space is between the pipes? I really wish I could have used a smaller diameter pvc to mock this up- I could have easily fit a 4-1 then. But it is what it is and the results will be what I'm most concerned about.

Sick. I am interested in how it all fits in there. Reminds me kinda of the tubes in futurama.

I love it, but i just don't see any benefit in that. way to much going on and a lot of bends and what not....just seems to me like a Dc or OBX would flow better...

Okay, now I'm less worried by my design. While others (and myself) have struggled with twisting the OBX header in vain attempts to install; this went in in 10 seconds. I could have done it with one hand.

Not sure if you can see it in the last one, but the tab for the slip connector on the 2-1 collector is quite close to the firewall. I'm not sure if it will actually be a problem, but since I won't be driving with this header until I can get it to a shop to finish the downpipe, it shouldn't matter. Even then, a shop should be able to relocate that tab.
Now to replace the starter and install a borrowed DCSports header for travel.

Very nice!

Reminds me of the racing headers from the old N/A race cars.

Awesome looking header, I wanna see the gain on this design. Are you planning on making them and mak a profit out of them? Would be an awesome idea.

I love that. Both sets of headers I have have clearance issues. I like the stock log design because of how it routes the piping away from the steering knuckle and keeps it close to the motor.

Your piping makes more use of the vertical and keeps it tight to the motor. Sick fitment. Great work.

Photo request. Can you post a pic of where the collector sits at the bottom?

I'll try to get that pic tonight. And thanks for all the compliments.
The builder that made the header appears to only do custom design. If there were another builder out there who wanted to buy my design, I might be willing, but I still need to finalize the downpipe.

Underside clearance, wee!

The O2 sensor may be a bit difficult to get in because of the Trans case, but I don't think it will be a clearance issue once installed.

I might talk to a buddy of mine about it- DJSpecPants used to be active on the forums, but now has no time due to work. I know he's got an intake manifold that he's working on; who knows if he's interested.

Just out of curiosity, what is the i.d. for your primary runners and collector outlet? I would be forever in your debt. Thanks!

Hey guys, sorry I haven't had any updates, out of town for a wedding, which was supposed to double as a tuning trip to AMS. Unfortunately, the starter is not getting a signal, so I've got to track down the problem, hence no starting. I've decided to bring the car to Elite Auto in MN to have them work on everything and get it up and running. Naturally, that means I need to find some way to get it towed out of my underground garage (I'm sure my landlord will be happy about that- its been sitting on stands since January)
The id for my primaries starts at 1 5/8" I think, and expands ultimately to a 2" collector before expanding to the 2.5" exhaust.

It bolts up to a turbo downpipe, that's why the flange location is a bit different.

Do want this?? where can i get one since i dont have super epic fab skills to make one as sexy as the one your makin ajax

I understand the concept and interest in building a NA KA, but are you really satisfied with only 202whp?

A "built" car that will get eaten by a 10 year old stock Mustang GT doesn't seem fun or appealing...

LOL I don't mind losing a 1/4 mile pass to a car with 4 extra cylinders and is 10 years younger. Seriously, I don't think I need more than what I've got. If I wanted "lots of power", I would have had AMS do a turbo setup from the start; or dropped in a SBC. But I like the KA. The beginning of this entire build was actually modest power gain and a fresh engine. When the first shop to touch the engine basically destroyed it, I started over and decided to see what I could get out of it. And since I don't know of any other pump gas 200hp KAs, I'm pretty happy with the results I've achieved.

You obviously haven't had a good ka in a 240. I've seen em eat enough gts in my life bare bone stock

Mkay, im gonna call bs.. but cool story

There is no reason to be naive, but if you want to spend the same amount of money and time on your NA KA s13 as i do on my s13 except make over 120whp less... than thats your decision to live with

When somebody does custom fabrication on a car, you get my respect. People should appreciate it no matter what engine it is. Just my .02. People have been on a hating spree on this board lately. Nice #'s for an old technology N/A engine. :)

For the drive home to my garage just before the snow it, yes it was... I'm getting really excited to take it out of storage when the snow leaves...
