Some trans designs use a solenoid that modulates the line pressure overall and can affect almost anything on the trans if that one goes............usually called a main pressure solenoid or close. The others usually just work certain facets of the shifting action.
Need a line pressure check, likely not enough there. If pump is prevented from making the pressure needed then of course nothing will work.
Thanks amc, for the verification on that. The shop says they did test using a pressure gauge at the solenoids and at the pump test port. They were not seeing any pressure at the pump.
The one thing I was not happy about, was that before i actually took the car to them, the shop said they could test the solenoids and the torque converter for failure. However, when I got the final call about not getting line pressure at the pump and learning that that could mean its a problem with everything between the pump and the torque converter, I asked if they tested the torque converter. They told me that there is no test for the torque converter.
