Man Greg, I have been hating my BRM since I got it in February, mainly cause I used my friends cat with a bent flange, so the exhaust never sealed and Ive had a crappy sounding leak. Today, I got a new cat finally, slapped the gaskets on, turned the car on for a little, let it cool, then retorqued the bolts. Alls I can say is "OMGZ!!1`~~~~``" This exhaust sounds so awesome now. Thanks for making a kick *** product!

Just installed my BRM 2.5" catback exhaust (dual tip) w/ 14" resonator on my s13. Everything fit together so well. The only problems I ran into was that I had to cut off one of the rear tow hooks and the hanger by the resonator has nowhere to go... other than that perfection. The system looks beautiful and sounds amazing (deep and throaty). All I can say is thanks Greg for a nice quality non-rice exhaust. Go BRM!

Okay, so I finally got my exhaust in today..... I'm pretty excited that it's here, the dual tips look amazing and the SS is nice.

BUT, there are some problems with it. The resonator has a dent on it, which might be cosmetic, but I didn't exactly want a dented 'new' product. Also, there is a hole in my exhaust. This is not cosmetic. It's right where the pipe meets the muffler. Looks like somone rushed the welding job and missed a section that is roughly 7/16 " in size (I measured it). I can see it from the outside and when looking in through the pipe. Now, for $575 this isn't exactly what I expected. I'll post pics, but I am leaving to work right now, so it'll have to be tomorrow.

A little dissapointed

I was looking on the Magnaflow website and noticed that they offer several different tips for their muffler. I was wondering if you could make a system with the slant dual tips instead of the straight cut ones? Also, would there be any additional charge for that?

I have slant tips on the car now and really like the way they look.

Greg, I just sent an email for an order. 2.25" ss w. 22" resonator and dual tips.

I've spent many hours this weekend online researching exhaust systems and I keep coming back to yours. It just has the best combo of sound, volume, dual tips (although I think they are a tad big but that’s okay), and stainless steel. Thanks for your help answering questions on this forum and in a couple emails I sent you last year. Can't wait to install the new exhaust!

And thanks for posting pics and sound clips everyone!

Hey AZHitman if I were to order a BRM can I choose a 2.5 ss with a 22inch aluminium resonator instead of the 14inch ss resonator? And if I were to order the 2.5 ss, would I have to pay extra for the 3inch tips? or does it automatically come with the 3inch tips?

I got my 2.5" cat-back w/22" resonator and dual tips yesterday. The only thing missing in my package was an extra gasket and 2 nuts, bolts and washers. The person packing everything must not have realized that I got the hi-flow cat too and so I would need the extra hardware. No big deal though; went to Home Depot and got some grade 8 nuts and bolts and went to the local muffler shop and got the extra gasket. I just finished installing it today and I must say that it did not disappoint. I also had a grounding wire that went from the chassis to the stock exhaust and there was no place on the new exhaust to put it. I just drilled the hole out to 3/8" so that I could just slide it onto the bolt that held the new cat to to the exhaust. All was well.

I was looking for a long time for a replacement exhaust since my stock one had a huge crack after the resonator. Luckily, I found this site and all the positive feedback about BRM's exhaust and ordered it. I'm glad I did. On a side note, if anyone is in the Redmond, WA area and needs the stock muffler let me know by tomorrow afternoon. After that the stock exhaust goes in the trash.

Got my exhaust on yesterday. I bought the 2.25" SS w. the 22" resonator. My previous exhaust was 2.25" with a Magnaflow muffler.

PowerI seemed to have gained a slight bit of power. The BRM has 1 bend on the front section whereas my old exhaust had a pair of "S" bends. I'm guessing those bends hindered flow a lot since I can feel a difference with the BRM.

SoundThe BRM retains all of the nice throaty sound of my old exhaust. No raspy sound except at high rpm, even though I have a Hotshot header. My old system began to get raspy at a lower rpm. The only change in sound I noticed under normal driving is that the BRM has a more "breathy" sound to it (if that makes since to you).

VolumeI was looking for an exhaust that was quieter at highway speeds. That is just what I got. Around town the system isn't really any quieter that my old system. From 45 mph up the system is about 20% quieter. It's not as quiet as I hoped for, or expected from watching the videos, but the car is now comfortable on my 3 hour drive to college. I guess the majority of the exhaust noise is because of the header, so the 22" resonator probably makes a much greater impact on cars with the factory exhaust manifold.

AppearanceI was a little leery about the size of the dual tips when I ordered. However, I must say that they look great in person. I like them more than my old slant tips. The muffler tucks nicely under that car and the rest of the system sticks pretty close to the undercarriage.

Quality Beautiful welds, thick flanges, and quality gaskets and bolts. I did have to file off a thin metal crescent on the pipe for the rear section. It stuck about 1/8" into the pipe and 1/2 the way around the diameter. Easy fix, but it wouldn't have been too good for flow.

FitmentI have some problems in this area. The first is the muffler. It is cocked slightly towards the drivers side with that tip slightly higher. I think the un-level tips may be fixed by bending the hangers, but I don't know how to fix the cocked muffler. Second issue is that the resonator sits less than 1/4" away from my Suspension Techniques sway bar. They have not contacted yet, but if they do I hope the VHT paint on the resonator doesn't scrape off. If it does in just one spot, it will undermine the whole purpose of painting it. The last issue might explain the muffler position. The muffler was welding into the assembly UPSIDE-DOWN. Yes, the Magnaflow emblems are on the side of the tips facing the ground. Maybe someone was just having a bad day when they put my exhaust together.

UPDATE for everyone:

Apparently we had quite a mess from the hurricane, lost most of the shop roof and had pretty significant water damage. Our fabricators and welders all took a week off to take care of their residences and families, so this week they'll be playing catch-up.

I've been out of commission and away from the office for several days as well, so my apologies for the delays in replying.

Should be "business as usual" resuming this week, and I think everyone's received replies and updates.

Thanks guys!

Greg, so this is what you do for a living? I like the looks and price of your exhaust systems, but I really love the look of the muffler facing diagonally instead of straight out the back if you know what I mean. Can you guys do that and would it cost more?

Hi Greg, everyone. I figured I'd post some pic's of my install while I'm here... 2.5" aluminum, dual exit tips, 22" resonator. I intended to paint it tonight and install it tomorrow, but I was too eager.

Anyways, pretty basic stuff here: I roughed up the surface of the piping with a green 3M pad, wiped it clean, and let it dry in the sun. I was glad to see that the welds were already primered, which said a lot for the quality to me, even though it was the aluminum version. I sprayed it w/Rustoleum BBQ Grill paint, because it was $3 cheaper than the auto-part store paint! Good for 1200* too. Anyways, it turned out great, and I really laid the paint on. Almost 1.5 cans worth. It dried in less than an hour.

Ripped the stock exhaust off, then fired it up for sheits 'n grins.

Install was straight-forward, although pay attention to how the mid-pipe goes on! I'll spare myself the embarassement of elaborating.

Bolted right up, and the dual tips had zero interferance problems with my tow hook. Below are some pic's; wish I had taken more. The *only* problem I have is that it seems to hang low. It's almost 3-4" away from the rear sway bar in the rear(w/the car up in the air). FWIW I installed a zeifer test pipe, which may have something to do with it. I could never get my hanger on the transmission mount to line up, even on the stock exhaust. *shrug*, my guess is my header(stock)/collector is out of whack, the test pipe, or sagging stock rubber hangers.

Sounds great, and it really livened up my ride! Under 3k it's very deep and rumbly, at 3k it sounds pretty damn mean. Above 3.5k(on a stock DE), it really quiets down. I will certainly have to be carefull on main cruise streets on after hours/weekends.

All-in-all, love it. My only regret is not breaking down sooner to buy it.

Cheers,Jamie

From the pictures it looks like the fitment is exactly like mine... like I said the res. hangs a little low, but it bolted up fine and is a good system. My hangers are indeed old, and I'm sure it would help a bit too. Also worth noting is my engine mounts are pratically shot, which will lower the collector pipe off the mani, lowering the exhaust even more. Mute points anyways... anyone with an aftermarket exhaust and dropped suspension should expect to avoid speedbumps/etc, which I have learned to do.

Fitment looks good to me. Sure the BRM system hangs a tad low but unless your gonna be driving in 6" of snow or off roading, I doubt the exhaust will ever drag on something.

Hey AZhitman, do you use make your own resonators or utilize another type? I just installed my header on my s13 with a hi-flow cat and custom piping back to my magnaflow muffler (my system looks almost like yours except I have no resonator). It's really disgustingly loud now..and Im trying to find a way to tone it down. I'd love to purchase one of your resonators and slap it in there, love the sound of your exhausts. Good job. Cheers,-Red
