The biggest thing is when I installed the cometic hg I over-tightened one of the camshaft bracket bolts and it broke. So it's got to be tapped out. Once that gets done it's just a matter of putting the valve cover back on and firing it back up. But I don't don't know how she'll run or even if it will even start.

Here's a pic of her before I cleaned off the dust

Hey that's awesome you got the wrx! That's my plan too, even though I love my 240 I will need something with more room for the kids. I've looked at a lot of options and I'm settled that my next car will have 4 doors and AWD. Audi and Subaru were the only options and the Subbie fits the bill for me, and it even gets the stamp of approval from the wifey

You guys know I would love to figure out how to register a Japanese car here in America. I mean most car on the Japanese yahoo auction site got for less than $10,000 while the same car will go for about $25,000. It is insane. Mainly I am thinking out lout, but look at this.

American

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem

He wants $22K

Japanese

http://www.google.com/translat...=UTF8

He wants $7,323

It is just amazing how people are trying to cheat each other in America. Anyway I am just thinking out loud, sorry if this post bothered anybody.

Zee, I used to live in Japan. Things are just different there. Cars like that are fairly rare here, but not so much there. But the biggest reason is it gets very expensive to keep a car over 10 years old in Japan. I don't remember the exact term, but there is inspection/insurance thing your car has to go through every 3 years. It costs more and more money each time so after about the 3rd one it's just cheaper to buy a new car than it is to keep the old one. So these older cars get sold really cheap or get scrapped for parts. It's kinda good they do this though or you wouldn't have so many SR, RB, CAs etc being imported over here for our 240s.

It'd be nice if you could easily import cars from there. I wish I could have imported my Toyota Levin. I loved that car. A couple of years ago, when I had my Z32, I met up with some other Z owners in Charleston. Well one guys buddy shows up with a super nice R34 GTR V-spec. I don't know how he did it, but it can be done. Just not legally.

I do know how much it costs to ship here. It costs $500 for deportation documents, and $500 for a freight on a ship.

I knew that also. The reason the taxes are so high after 10 years is because the government promotes people buying new cars to boost the economy. I just wish we can find a way around all of these laws in America. I have a feeling something can be done through the post office because of Rural carriers are able to buy RHD vehicles. I don't know how they do it, but both my parents are in the Post Office so I am trying to get as much information on it as possible.

Hey man, totally go with a lightweight flywheel if you can afford it, SR20s love them, belive me I had a 15lb(not too crazy stock is 22lbs) in my s13 and I could really feel a difference in throttle response / driveability. The only negative to them is the cost. You shouldnt go with a cheap steel flywheel because the metal is so thin it can break / warp easily. Make sure you get an aluminum one.Heres a pic of my clutch that came in last week.

sorry to say you are a little short on your calculations...i work in import/export and yoru right on one thing.

$500 export docs (japan)$500 export loading(japan)$200-300 export customs clearance (japan)shipping can be from $500 (if you can consolidate with other cargo/cars)but most likley for a single 20' container its about $1200 (at cost) from the far east (Japan) to the west coast (cali)if you go from the far east (Japan) to the east coast you're looking at around $1900-2100 (cost)$500 import docs$500 import unloading$200-300 import customs clearance$1200-3000 US Duty (us import tax)

these prices are on the REAL conserative side. best case scenario is around 4-5 grand if you have the hook up and do it all your self. Also thats only for US approved imports (for skylines, r32 and before thanks to the a*s*s*holes from motorex)

dont you think if it was ony $1000 to import a j-spec you would see a few more on the roads?

I guess I was a little short, but no I really wouldn't think there would be more j-spec's around only because a lot of people don't want to take the time to figure how to import, then figure how to register it. I am not going to do it. I just wonder if it would be possible.

I will probably be moving to Canada in a few years because the job I am training for cannot be had down here. (I am training to be a Video Game Programmer, because regular programming is a little to boring.) Anyway I just wanted to know how to do it because then I could possibly help some people out rather than basically trying to steal from them. The prices that people are trying to sale JDM cars are outrageous and I know there can be something better. That was all I was thinking.

It is a nice car and a great price, but I really don't like the exhaust. Anyway I don't have the money anyway so it is all yours.

May I ask why you are selling the cobra so soon?

Oh and HAPPY HALLOWEEN GUYS!!!!

Yeah that exhaust is sort of....funky

Speaking of exhaust, this is what I did yesterday on my day off. Between school and work im on a limited time schedule so the process takes a little longer than normal, lol This Friday night the motor is going in and everything mechanical I will be hooking up. Then towing it up to NSP in spartanburg and David is going to do the wiring for me sometime next week.

The area im working isnt all that big so the pics are sorta cramped.I installed a new manifold and elbow. But the key factor was I replaced all of the factory jmd gaskets on the t25. I could tell that the guy before me had blown his turbo inlet gasket. So instead of graphite gaskets I went with metal inlet and outlet gaskets. If you look at the bolts you will also see where on a couple of bolts I sawed the heads off to make it a stud and double nutted it with lock washers.

I agree that light weight flywheel would be better for aforementioned reasons. Furthermore, you can get a matching one from the same place where you got the clutch and you know Exedy stands by their products.

The deal is, I had a 1989 S13 with a redtop in it. I bought the car from a guy in charleston where some shop had done the swap.Last summer in July after owning the car for a little over 5 months it caught fire and burned to the ground on the side of I26 20 miles outside of columbia. I was by myself and it was 4am on a saturday morning, took fire fighters 15 mins to get to my car and by then it was totally gone......The fire I belive started somewhere on the intake manifold side, and my only guess to why it sarted would be wiring. Im not trying to come to any quick conclusions, but I think the people who did the swap may have done a half *** job on wiring.Ive personally done swaps with my dad in my crx, his 91 civic, and my little sisters 92 accord. I know I could send off my current harness or straight up do it myself. I feel confident that ive done everything right so far but I do not trust myself to do the wiring. But, NSP is a guaranteed way to help incase I did something stupid or messed up somewhere in the swap.

RIP baby I will always miss you...

hey james you think you might be selling any 240's soon? i decided not to get the pignose because i dont wanna run the risk of buying it and putting a clutch in and it still not run and then having to shell out more money on it.
