I do know how much it costs to ship here. It costs $500 for deportation documents, and $500 for a freight on a ship.rps13srsc wrote:oh and zee you do realize how much it would cost to ship it right
I knew that also. The reason the taxes are so high after 10 years is because the government promotes people buying new cars to boost the economy. I just wish we can find a way around all of these laws in America. I have a feeling something can be done through the post office because of Rural carriers are able to buy RHD vehicles. I don't know how they do it, but both my parents are in the Post Office so I am trying to get as much information on it as possible.DocLiv wrote:Zee, I used to live in Japan. Things are just different there. Cars like that are fairly rare here, but not so much there. But the biggest reason is it gets very expensive to keep a car over 10 years old in Japan. I don't remember the exact term, but there is inspection/insurance thing your car has to go through every 3 years. It costs more and more money each time so after about the 3rd one it's just cheaper to buy a new car than it is to keep the old one. So these older cars get sold really cheap or get scrapped for parts. It's kinda good they do this though or you wouldn't have so many SR, RB, CAs etc being imported over here for our 240s.
Hey man, totally go with a lightweight flywheel if you can afford it, SR20s love them, belive me I had a 15lb(not too crazy stock is 22lbs) in my s13 and I could really feel a difference in throttle response / driveability. The only negative to them is the cost. You shouldnt go with a cheap steel flywheel because the metal is so thin it can break / warp easily. Make sure you get an aluminum one.Heres a pic of my clutch that came in last week.tdcoy510 wrote:exedy clutch came in.
and i gotta question, light weight flywheel, or oem?

$500 export docs (japan)$500 export loading(japan)$200-300 export customs clearance (japan)shipping can be from $500 (if you can consolidate with other cargo/cars)but most likley for a single 20' container its about $1200 (at cost) from the far east (Japan) to the west coast (cali)if you go from the far east (Japan) to the east coast you're looking at around $1900-2100 (cost)$500 import docs$500 import unloading$200-300 import customs clearance$1200-3000 US Duty (us import tax)
these prices are on the REAL conserative side. best case scenario is around 4-5 grand if you have the hook up and do it all your self. Also thats only for US approved imports (for skylines, r32 and before thanks to the a*s*s*holes from motorex)
dont you think if it was ony $1000 to import a j-spec you would see a few more on the roads?

I agree that light weight flywheel would be better for aforementioned reasons. Furthermore, you can get a matching one from the same place where you got the clutch and you know Exedy stands by their products.tdcoy510 wrote:exedy clutch came in.
