looks pretty good, hurry up and paint that hood though.

anyways, i have about 2k to spend. what do you guys think i should do. my front passenger side strut is terrible and the drivers side isnt too much better, im pretty sure my front rotors are warped, my car sits like a truck, my tires sucks, im pretty sure i need some new bushings for the tie rods etc.

i wanted to buy coilovers, but its just so much money when i think about what else i could spend it on. i do definetly need new suspension though. i was thinking about buying some new struts for the front and buying the crappy adj lowering springs all the honda kids have, but i dont want to blow them.

honestly, unless you're just in the money and want to spend it, or if you plan on extensive track time, forget coilovers unless you find a super deal on them. That's just my opinion. The right springs and struts will handle just fine and look good too. AJ-USA sells S14 kyb struts for like $67 apiece, and I think s13 stuff is cheaper so.. there you go. A set of Eibach springs goes for like $150. I think I priced out 300zx front brakes at like $350 and I think that was brembo rotors (not much price difference between those and autozone ones), and everything else from autozone, so it would all be new. Rounding up, that would put you around $800. Of course if you do that you might as well go with a 5 lug swap; which new will cost about $400, but you can buy used S14 parts cheaper if you are lucky. then a set of wheels and tires, I don't know maybe $350 for a set of S14 SE's with good tires? Just an example. Then some good bushings and tie rod crap will probably eat up the rest of your $2 grand.

Or you could forget all that and go straight for a jdm motor swap

zerothread?id=176037

... of course then you could resell your newly installed KA for probably enough for some cheap struts and springs.

ok here's the deal:

96 Nissan Pathfinder SE, 4x4 5 speed manual, power everything, sunroof, new tires, clutch, rebuilt transmission, nice new stereo and 4 speakers 163,000 miles, price: $5200

2000 Nissan Maxima SE, 5 speed manual, power everything, sunroof, 2 new tires, factory bose stereo, leather interior, 85000 miles price $8500

Odds are the maxima won't last past the weekend without being sold, so this may not matter, but what do you guys like better, considering the cars I already have and that I won't be driving far with it?

clubsx, those springs you showed me are what all those honda kids in my neighborhood have. they seem to be decent, how much would you want to sell them for?

if i bought those kyb struts and some eibach springs i would be spending close to 400 dollars or something so i figured why not try and pick up some coilovers for like 750 or so. i could always sell them and get most of my money back. but then i think about what else i could do with that much money. i could always buy those cheap springs and lower it and then buy some nice wheels and then buy coilovers later and do some more power stuff now. theres just so much i want to buy and i suck at making decisions esp involving decent amounts of money.

is that maxima a 3.5?

no, that maxima is a 2000 model so it's just a vq30de. 2002 is the first year of the vq35de and the 6 speed transmission.

I kind of think it's going to end up being the pathfinder because of the price and usefulness of it. Besides I practically already have a maxima.

I agree with both of you, it's pointless to waste money. You already have the luxuary maxima in the Infiniti. The pathfinder is definitely the way to go given the situation; you don't plan to drive it that often and gas prices are sky high. You've got a win-win situation! lol Additionally it would round out your fleet better to have an SUV for those jobs that require a larger vehicle.

scs13, imo if you want a decent suspension setup, why not go for some ground control coil sleeves and some kyb/tokico struts. Both type struts can be purchased with some level of dampning adjustment and the ground controls can give you the option for height adjustment. You should be able to get the GC's for about $300 and the struts for about the same amount. Next I would say to address all the general maintenance issues that you may have. Afterwards I would consider what James said, 5-lug conversion and some wheels...Brandon is selling his for the xtra low price. After all that you should still have some dough left in your pocket for some performance parts or maybe some braking upgrades. I hear that the q45 rotors are decently sized and offer some better user friendliness than the z32 rotors. 11" rotors would look good @ all four corners.

I'm not even sure what ground controll sleeves are, never heard of them, maybe you could explain and give a link so I could see what they look like.

I thought you wanted those wheels?

I'm interested in doing a z32 brake conversion, but what do you mean by user friendly when refering to q45 brakes? Are they easier to install? work better? just wondering, because I don't really know what all is involved with it.

Well thanks for disecting my post James..lol.

1.Ground Control coil-overs/sleeves: http://images.google.com/imgre...LD:en

2. I do want his wheels, but I don't have the cash to buy them and it wouldn't be fair for me to "reserve" them when someone else can benefit in the meanwhile.

3. IDK where I read it at, but somewhere on Nico I saw something about q45 rotors fit the s13 caliper without mods unlike the z32 caliper that requires bracket relocation or something like that. I could be totally wrong.

ehh I don't mean to disect, you just raised a lot of questions about things I was curious about. We'll have to look into the brake installation though...

I'm in the same sort of situation as Jordan. I have some money but not much and I'm pretty sure I want to spend it on suspension. I have ok struts so would it benefit me to just get some decent springs? Also I don't think I could put those on myself. Could anybody help or would I have to go somewhere to do it?

If anyone knows of a good price on a decent fmic let me know. Thanks.

I'd be happy to help you with your springs and stuff if you can get the tools (spring compressor). As far as the fmic is concerned, check on ebay. I say some really good deals on there yesterday, albeit I can't vouch for the quality. Matter of fact I saw one for $100 but I'm not sure if it included the piping or not. A lot of companies are selling sr fmic kits for about $350 with piping and all that other stuff. If you need my help just shoot me an email of when you can come to Columbia and we'll colaborate from there. Meanwhile I'll try to secure a shop so that we don't have to do the install in my yard.

I don't know about those ebay intercoolers. They're way too sketchy. Thanks for the offer, I'll consider it. Right now I'm thinking about some rs*r springs. Is it a bad idea to get lowering springs on my current struts. The struts aren't the original ones but they're not great. Also is anyone going to nopi?

i wanted to have a meet this summer when everybody was out of school and everything, for those that are. but nobody really came together on it and time just flew by. id love to have a meet any time now though. we went to ceasars head yesterday, boy was that fun. it was me, zack (93 civic w/b16), greg (gsr integra), justin (crx w/b16), and randy (crx). it would be nice to have some more 240s up there. we should have a meet there or at the tail of the dragon sometime. i think we might be goin there this coming weekend.

James do you still need a sr maf? If so I have a friend that just swaped to a z32 maf on his red top sr, I think he wants it $35 for the maf with the filter adapter.

nah, I have 2 of them now. I just got through changing the spark plugs and then test driving the car and it runs great and has plenty of power. Although I'm reluctant to trust it under boost for very long. I'm also not going very far until I get my cooling system a little more squared away.

btw- Brandon thanks for all your help over the weekend, I promise I'll help you at least as much on your 240.

As far as a meet goes, I'll be lucky if I have my car ready for NOPI. I'm trying really hard though. I will be there with or without my 240 though. We could sort of have one there, and I think at least 3 of us will, but if you guys want to set something up later, that's cool.

Also if you guys know anyone that is looking for a truck send them my way.
