Got my first 240 about 3 weeks ago The body on it needs a little work but no major dents. A lot of little door dings and things like that though. It needs the head gasket and things change which I will probably start on tomorrow. What do you guys think? Any feedbacks appreciated.

DAY 1. Man those rims had to go .

DAY 3. Got my rims and tires put on it and got eibach sportlines.(I know I need coilovers but I'm 16 and need to save up, and couldn't stand how it looked.)

Then it blew a hose and overheated on the freeway . Had to get it to a shop.

Got every hose on the motor changed, radiator cleaned out, and new thermostat and it still overheats. And this morning I noticed black specs in the radiator so I'm pretty sure its a blown head gasket. Bought a manual today. I'm Going to start on it tomorrow morning changing out all the gaskets.

Not bad. It could be lower, but not everyone can throw down a grand for coilovers right away. For only 3 days, it's looking a lot better.

Clean hatch fellow jailbait. I liked the older wheels (albeit they're hubcaps) better, but only because I despise those staggered 962s. The body looks hella straight and the paint seems to be in great condition. Great start, keep her clean!

Btw, what car were you riding in that was rhd? (Pic behind the tow truck)

I just don't like the staggered sizes. You should try and find an extra pair of rear sizes to put on the front. 962s can looks pretty badass when they're done right.

But that's my opinion. And I take back my statement, those do look better.

I think it could use a little more lip in the front. But I like it to looked tucked in. It needs coilovers bad though. Just don't have the money to pay for them right now.

Just save up money behind their backs and bring it home one day. "Now you don't have to drive me everywhere." Or just park it near your house and walk home. I had to hide my old Infiniti M30 from my mom for like 2 years cause she wouldn't let me drive on my suspended license. Good times..

Would the top radiator hose being really pressurized mean its a head gasket? Any have an estimate on how much it would be to change the head gasket at a shop?

I would estimate a headgasket replacement in the neighborhood of 500-1000 maybe more. It's quite labor intensive

we don't have the tools for it. Plus my dad doesn't really want to help me do it. Anyone have anymore estimates?

Well we found out today its either a cracked block or cracked head. So were just going to replace the motor. Smog laws are a B**** in california so my dad doesn't want to let me get an SR in it. Is there no possible way for it to pass smog? I don't want to put another KA into it.

man your one lucky guy that your parents will pay for the motor and the rims. I'm 16 also and in the same boat as you. My car is blowing a little blue/black smoke when I really step on the gas. I just got to change my rings. My car is all stock except its straight piped and has 'Z' rims. Take a look, my pictures are on my facebook. The links in my sig.

Nice progress dude. Not a bad price on that long block either. Hopefully it works out well for ya!

About the SR passing smog, if you have all the factory emissions stuff hooked up, passing smog should be no problem. It's just the visual check people are worried about.
