Getting the motor tomorrow afternoon . The people we bought the engine from said it can be driven over 60mph for the first 1,000 miles . Seems like a long time to break a motor in.

if your complaining lol Ill take your new motor for a trade for my stock one. Mine only has 300,000km on it. But look at the bright side, you wont have to break it in lol.

I know I'm really late to this thread, but I've taken a special interest in this car because I'm also in Long Beach and would love to see how the project turns out once everything is said and done. I'm planing on starting a thread similar to this tomorrow, and would like input on where my build should go, so please check it out. Thanks and see you on the boards

i have the money to buy a car plus some mods but i have to be 18 to buy a car without a cosigner unless the seller doent care and i cant drive it around because insurance would be to much for me

Its coming together very nicely . I painted my valve cover today. I wanted it to come out Burgundy like the cars color, but it came out more of a red like the SR's. I'm going to go pick up a darker shade tomorrow and just paint over it. But anyways the motor should be ready to be dropped into the car tomorrow . Hopefully will be up and running by tuesday. Well heres some pictures.

Awesome job so far! I wish I would have just bought a new block instead of spending so much here and there on mine.

Well I just finished the new motor tonight. Tomorrow after work were going to drop it in. So hopefully by wednesday it will be running. I don't think after its back in the car it will be that difficult anymore. The hard parts already done.

Well we got it in the car yesterday and today we where just putting everything back together and getting everything right. I have one question though. Where does the negative battery cable bolt back up to? I cant seem to figure this out and its the only thing.

LOL this is soo funny. Last year me and my buddy were looking into doing a RHD swap on his 240. Later that day we were driving his mom's Mustang and they dash board looked pretty symmetrical. We were thinking how easy it would be on a mustang cause you wouldnt need a new dash. Th dash swings up for the gauge cluster and on the passenger side it makes the same wave for the air bags. LOL.

The main ground go's on the side of the intake manifold from the one that's also attached to the battery tray.

Looks good.

Got it running today . Its having some timing issues though. Im going to get on that tomorrow. And the top radiator hose feels pretty pressurized. Not sure if its supposed to be like that but I'm going to burp the system tomorrow again.

You sound intelligent. Not like most s13 owners our age.

Good job. You're going to have a really nice 240 to drive when it's all said and done. Be sure to post some good pictures.

Thanks. Im getting really frustrated with it though . When we where letting it idle in the backyard it wasn't over heating or anything but the heater was blowing out just normal. It didn't seem like it was hot at all. It kind of seemed like the thermostat wasn't opening. Then after about an hour of only idle we revved it to like 2,000 rpm and the temperature immediately started rising and went to the line right under the highest line and stayed there. I got scared because the motor was brand new and shut it off. But I don't know. What could it be? The motor is brand new.

Well we didn't really mess with the car today. But I'm pretty sure I figured out why it spiked the temperature gauge yesterday when I revved it.

When it was just idleing there it didn't really seem like the thermostat was opened because the heater wasn't blowing hot at all, So it kind of seemed like the water was just sitting in the radiator heating up from all the motor heat, So when I revved it and the water pump spun a little faster, it popped the thermostat open and hot water started flowing passed the temperature sensor. And immediately after I revved it the heater got hot. So I think the thermostat was stuck closed and it was just cooking the coolant in the radiator because it wasn't flowing, and when it finally opened hot coolant passed by the temp. sensor and spiked it.

Kind of makes sense right

Sounds kinda right. Im in the same boat as far as age and 240. Ill be 18 in october and my new s13 coupe will be my 7th car.... no i only wrecked the first one. One word of advice i would give is to stay motivated about this particular car. I have a bad habit of getting bored and buying something new and then selling it when i get bored again. I got it honest tho... my dad doesnt keep cars for more than 6 months... i think he will be keeping the s2k he just bought for a while tho haha. Good luck with your engine.Oh and if u do ever get into selling cars... its fun. I bought my 96 s14 for 2200 and put about $400 worth the parts in it and i just sold it for 3500. i got lucky. U can always find a great deal and then sell it to a sucker. As the sayin goes.. there's a sucker born every day so take advantage of it. clean hatch by the way

Thanks . I've only had it for about a month so far. I think I'll have it for a while though. I've already got a lot of money into it and its nowhere near where I want it
