Hello,

I just bought my first car that isn't older than I am. I have a 1997 I30 Black in San Diego.
I got the car for $1,700 cash to help a buddy out of some financial woes and my Camaro had recently passed on, so I needed a car.
I was delighted to find this website since the car has a few minor issues but is still a great deal.
I normally would never be able to afford this car, so I want to take care of it and hopefully hold onto it a good long while.

I am a computer geek, my dad was the mechanic in the family, so I apologize if I describe things in a completely noobish fashion :P
I can handle myself under the hood if its not too messy though and I already have my own reader for the ecu and hope to learn more about my cars hardware.

Some of the issues I need to get looked at are the engine light comes on and reported a code related 'engine ping' (I still have to write all this stuff down and post properly),
then the engine light goes off after awhile (a few drives). My brakes on the left driver side seem to be bad, and the brakelight is on. The drivers window needs a new motor, I opened it up and tried and to me it seems the electric motor is dead (it moves, but can't continue). Also the previous owners bent the hood, but I figure that should be fixable too. And the radio volume knob is stuck at max volume (the stereo sounds awesome btw, I'll listen to it more once I can turn it down lol).

One bit of confusion I have is... this is an Infiniti right? Is the I30 considered a Maxima or is it very similar?
Sorry, my previous life was all classic cars, so I dont know all the names.

So Hi everyone, I will gather the required data and make some formal posts when I get lost or need to verify some info.
I look forward to learning alot from this forum.

95 Maxima, Dark Green metallic, tan leather interior, Auto, currently working on a motor swap. I'm in Belleville, IL. near St. Louis. I think it's a GLE, I'm not sure, It has no markings on it, but it does have heated seats, mirrors, sunroof, Bose system, but not the changer. Dark gauges, not the white face. power drivers seat, manual passenger, power windows, locks, and factory anti-theft, if that helps.

New (to the forum) with a Infiniti I30t I purchased in September. Had it for a month now. Pretty solid car but the MPG sucks.

So far I have changed the lights to Sylvania ZXE (video will come soon) and changed some lights in the car to LED. The ultimate goal is to do the whole thing LED and do full real suede where Infiniti decided to put cloth that mimics suede (plastic panels mostly)

Also, it has 6th gen Maxima rims. Came with the car. 18's. I will post pics up later in the week when I make my cardomain.

Hello everyone! I am new to the site and am unfamiliar with how forums work, but i think i get the concept. I have a 2000 Infiniti I30t 3.0L V6 automatic. it is silver with black leather interior and completely stock. i live in costa mesa, California. this is definitely the nicest car ive ever had and ive had it for about 2 years, but its giving me a headache. (i posted that in a new topic.) Anyhow, i am looking forward to hearing stories about other I30s and learning from fellow owners. Thank You.

Whats up everybody, new to the forum. My wife & I were given a 1997 Maxima GXE, automatic, and I have no idea what color it is (looks purple sometimes & looks grey other times). It has 143,000 miles and I'm from Joliet, IL.

I am a newbie, registered today. I purchased a 1997 Maxima new in '97. Pearl white, GLE, V-6, Automatic. As of today it has 265,139 miles. In it's lifetime it has had four sets of brakes, 4 sets of tires, one AC compressor, one starter and one set of struts. I need help replacing the brake light switch and have posted a question on the Maxima forum.

Hi Guys,

I'm new here. My name is Rafael Valente and I live in Rio de Janeiro / Brazil. I own a Maxima 98 GXE A/T transmission. It only have around 76000 Kilometers, converting to miles only 45.000 miles. I bought this car exactly because it reputation that it's hard to damage or all the parts is very reliable.

Best regards!

2005 Nissan Maxima SL 3.5 - my main and only car I drive

Automatic, 6 cylinder

Blue Exterior with Sliding moon roof and rear spoiler
- Clear coat burned off on trunk and roof, bumpers banged up, some scratches all over car and a few dents/scratches from other people hitting my car while opening their car doors. Chrome trim from bottom of window to end of roof defective on both sides-peeling and dull color. Need new grill-black Nissan letters fading off.

Bought new tires, rotors f/r, brakes f/r, v-belts & air conditioning fan. Driver's side door power window motor replaced. Sometimes passenger lock sticks when using remote. Have to get the car checked, because it seems to buck when it it changing into 2nd gear. Hope no transmission problems, I heard for this year car that other owners are having.

22,170 original miles est.

Black Leather Interior with duel heated power seats and heated steering wheel. Bose 6 cd sound system.

This car has almost all the bells and whistles, that was offered by Nissan.

When I have the money, I want to get a new after-market grill, the car repaired & repainted - UV protectant clear coat a must!! & with some chrome accents - car handles and a couple of others, but not too much. Then down the road, new chrome rims/tires.
Because this car was bought new, I love it, despite the problems I had so far. I always wanted a Max. This car is going to be my car for the rest of my life, unless I win the lottery.

United States Virgin Islands - shipped down from the US Northeast/Mid-Atlantic states
