You bought a rb20 replaced the gaskets, turbo, and painted it big effin deal wow. Seriously you need to get over yourself.

And didnt even change the rings, on a 20 year old motor. Im sorry i try not to talk like this but your s*** stinks to.
OK, insulting CA18 is where I cross the line. He only said one little thing and you flip out... If you actually follow his build, you'll see that he has gone the distance to make sure nothing is halfa**ed. Sure he didn't put new rings in, but i haven't seen a lot of swappers that actually have...
No offense, but I'm agreeing with Noxy on this one as well. And i'm gonna have to say if you really did read through CA18"s build... its ridiculously well thought through and put together. The COMPLETE OPPOSITE of what you've done in this build thread so far. Now you're gonna go with an RB20? I'm scared to see how bad you'll F this up as well!

And you're really going to say CA18's "s*** stinks too? I'm sorry, but if anyone puts your build thread remotely close to the caliber of his build thread... lol, i dont even know. But a word of advise, if I were you.. i'd be taking some notes from his "s*** stink build". If you dont, you'll probably end up bolting the turbo onto the intake manifold or something similar to your hood spacer issue :tisk: .

PS
And there was a lot more than a turbo, gaskets and paint involved in his build lol... And even if that was just it, it Sh*ts on your halfazz'd, reverse spacer'd BLOWN KA.
PS Part II
He did a compression check on all 6 cylinders in the middle of his build. "5-7 PSI drop from factory" on all. No need to change rings if compressions good :dblthumb:

I'm sorry, but with all due respect... Your thread = ra-tard

So movin on. The first thing on my list was to do a compression test to see what condition the motor was in.

Everything coming off the motor is noted, tag and bagged. Even the valvecovers bolts. Good Organization.

Everything was set and ready to go.

And hooked everything up, ready to turn the engine over and the GD starter was bad... :tisk:

Stay tuned in for next week.

i would have a bottle of ciroc and belvedere if these shifty chicks i was partying with didnt keep the bottles...

this is what im buyin next Image

and as for the crank bolt your gunna need hulk strength or you need to block something on the flywheel so the whole thing doesnt turn.

just my two pennies tho... invest in a good brand name electric impact in 1/2" I have an Ingersoll Rand IQv and i have air tools as well

Use a 1/2 drive socket wrench and hit the handle with a mallet, it doesn't always work but its worth a try. Also, someone on the other end of the motor with a wrench on one of the flywheel bolts to help keep it from turning will improve your odds of success.(or get the flywheel bolts loose)

You don't have to pull the abs unit completely out, just unbolt it from its mounting points and push the little bugger out of the way. Just be mindful of how far you push it so you don't kink one of the lines hooked to it.

I just skimmed through this last page... Happened to notice you're using specter couplers... GET RID OF THEM... If you want to save money, find the JDM Sport or CX racing ones on Ebay.

To be honest the abs would be good if the car was 5 lug, i think somebody did a swap on this car and switch it to 4 lug. :squint:

The motor is coming along real good the rest of my parts should be here today. Then im going to buy a electric impact and i can put the timing belt on. The timing belt on there seems to be in good condition, but i want to change the waterpump so i will kill 2 birds with 1 stone. :spitout:

I doubt it, one of my friends has a factory 4-lug, abs, and lsd car. The guy he got that car from is a good friend of mine, and said good friend got the car from a little old lady.

Its hard for me to describe how much I hate the abs pump location in s14's, they make the already annoying job of removing/installing the engine harness into a horrible experience that makes me want to club baby seals with kittens when I'm done.

The ecu plug has to make a tight turn right at the hole in the firewall, and it is a lot easier to get the plug to make that turn with out the abs pump blocking your view and taking up space your hands need to work.

You're just pulling the engine harness, on non-abs cars there is only one thing to make it difficult, there is a little clip( I hope there is a special place in hell for the little Japanese engineer that thought that clip was a good idea) that holds the harness to the firewall behind the air box, I just wedge a flathead against the clip and give it a couple of hits to break it. On abs cars you have that clip but you also have to haggle with the abs pump for space to pull the harness.
